3.11 Best Death In A Horror Movie-Kane gives "birth", Alien
Embedding was disabled, so you can watch a low-quality clip here: YouTube - ALIEN 1979 But, yeah. A baby alien bursts through the chest of poor John Hurt, leaving him a spasming pile of flesh. I was hoping this would fall to me here. I think could even be on a Mount Rushmore of movie deaths.

The Alien death is a really, really great pick. I'm amazed it fell so far.
And spleen, when I saw that Princess Bride clip earlier of Inigo Montoya vs. the Six Fingered Man, I was amazed that it made it onto the board before yours. This was my favorite scene, in one of my favorite movies ever. |

Oh, boy. This is really tough. I am making this pick based on which death I think has the higher probability of being chosen between now and my next pick. Using that as the basis, I will go with this:
4.2 Best Melee Death-King Mufasa dies-The Lion King YouTube - Mufasa's Death-Lion King-ENGLISH I am the antithesis of an animated movie fan. In fact, the only one I've watched in the better part of a decade is "Finding Nemo", which I hated. Saying that, this death was fantastic, and unexpected. Now, please, fellow drafters: Draft the way I would expect you, and let my next prized pick fall to me. It should happen. I don't foresee any of you smart people being smart enough to choose my mid-round white whale.

Well...for some reason I was stuck on the idea of picking the best death in a Comedy, and suddenly this one hit me like a ton of bricks.
With their 4th pick in the draft... 4.3 Best Death in an Action Film - Wade dies "I'm a school teacher" I chose this one not only because of the emotion and humanity that you could see coming out of Wade during the scene, but also becasue of the emotion and humanity that it brought out in the men around him during, and after his death. I will always hold it against the Captain that he decided to not move past the the Radar Tower.

That's a great pick, but I support the Captain's reasoning. If they left the maching gun nest, then they'd just be leaving it for someone else to get killed. If it was a larger unit, they could've been decimated if they didn't see the nest before it saw them.

My advisor (read: Wade) isn't around, so I'm going to make this pick by the seat of my pants! Oh no!
I am not big on action movies, but over the past 20 or so years, I think it's hard to beat this one. 4.6 Best Death in an Action Movie - Hans Gruber, Die Hard

Running it in super-slo-mo, with lame techno music dubbed in doesn't make it a great pick, I'm afraid.

Yeah, that's an excellent pick. Very powerful scene. I remember the first time I saw that, I so hated Tom Berenger's character I wanted to reach through the screen and kill him myself.

Truly one of the most terrifying characters to ever grace the movie screen. WARNING: The clip below is not safe for work. It is quite disturbing.

I hope I'm not crashing the party with my comments, but that Samuel L Jackson death was by far the best WTF moment I have ever seen in a movie (and it was an abysmal movie for the other hour and a half) Great, great pick that hopefully won't get marked down because the movie was so bad.

I disagree. I remember seeing that movie several years ago and thought that part was very cheesy (seeing it again confirms it). Jaws did it much more suspenseful 20 years earlier. Pales in comparison to many of the death picks, imo.

stevew's suicide pick seems pretty good, but am I the only one that hasn't seen DBS or heard of Bill Dwyer?
And now for more of why people don't like me when it comes to drafts. Is it just me, or do the "double" picks from movies take away from those picks? I think there should have been a rule taking a movie away if someone else picked it. In lieu of that, however, it seems to diminish the individual picks when you realize that movie was used for something else. I suppose some movies have very specific deaths that go in specific categories, but....

I have not seen either.. Also you have a point on the "double picks" but we decided that they be allowed. I think that there are several movies where the double dipping into them makes sense. |

I considered Drago but...Rocky IV just felt like this big long music video and I couldn't get emotionally involved at any point. I mean don't get me wrong, I own all 6 Rocky films, but I'd probably rank IV down there with V in emotional impact.
