EVENT 4 - HIGH JUMP - Status Update
I guess the best way to proceed is to have each of you annouce your 1st jump height - it will save us a ton of time passing. Remember, with the exception of those noted above, you'll get 7 jumps without a fatigue penalty in the 400. Fatigue penalty breakdowns are listed earlier in this thread. |

EVENT 4 - HIGH JUMP - Status Update
I will start the jumping tomorrow afternoon. If you fail to get me a starting height - I will take the first jump at your low end number. Unless someone has a better suggestion on where to start with the first jump. |

More info:
If Melo hits 6'3, then he will try 6'4. If he hits 6'4, he will pass until 6'10. In no event does he want to do more than 7 jumps. |

EVENT 4 - HIGH JUMP - Status Update
Guys, one thing to remember about the descriptions I provided. The low end result listed means the only way that height would be an unsuccessful attempt is if you were go roll an injury or NG. Everything else on the card is higher than the low end number listed. Now if there are serveral low end results, you may want to start there then skip the next height before rejumping. If you were to start say 1" above your listed low end number, the only way you wouldn't register a good jump is if you rolled an injury, NG or the low end number in 3 consecutive rolls. Not impossible but highly unlikely. Feel free to make changes to any starting heights you've already got listed, but do it below in a new post - don't edit your originals - that way I won't miss anything, because I can't promise I'll go back and check a post I already read. This is a much more confusing event - if you have questions...please ask. |

Babson will start jumping at 6'8". If he makes it in 2 or fewer jumps, he'll try every height thereafter until he totals 8 jumps. If it takes 3 jumps to make 6'8", he'll skip 6'9" and get back in at 6'10", going until he totals 8 jumps.

We can start as low as 5' 8", but you should never jump at a height lower than your low end number and probably should jump at least 1" higher than that. |

EVENT 4 - HIGH JUMP - Status Report
Seeing Jeff Nights announcement and some others I think I better futher explain how the event works. The bar starts at a height of 5' 10" (I am getting starting heights from everyone, because I don't want to go through the tediousness of having every athlete sign in just to pass for a few days). The bar will be raised by 1" when everyone either clears, passes or misses for the 3rd consecutive time (although all 3 misses do not have to be at the same height - I'll explain that later). Once the bar is raised - it will not be lowered - therefore once you pass, there is no going back. If you start at 7' for instance and miss on the first 2 jumps, you can't then request a height of 6' 6" to make sure you get a score. That is where the strategy comes in. What height do I start at, then do I pass a height before rejumping or continue to jump at each height that comes up. Also how many jumps do I take and is the fatigue penalty to much or can I justify it. Your player is out of the event when they either annouce they are finished jumping or miss 3 consecutive time (regardless of height). Therefore I could miss my opening jump of 6'5" then pass my second, jump at 6' 6" and miss then pass the height and try again at 6' 7". Their is no rule that says you must clear a height before you raise the bar. Last edited by Breeze : 08-23-2005 at 07:00 PM. |

EVENT 4 - HIGH JUMP - Status Update
I have gotten heights in on all but 4 players (Kappe, Cat, Soldier, and Mighty), so I'll start lining things up to begin the event. Unfortunately this event is going to take some time initially it will be Mello and Cat that have to make a number of decisions to move the dynasty along (because they are starting at a height below the other competitors - and Cat hasn't been very active in the thread for a while). Also a note on the 4 who haven't entered an intial height - I will be starting them just above their low end score - since that has been my advice in other threads. Also - you may change your mind on your starting height as long as you annouce it before I begin the jumps after the bar is raised. Here what I have for each competitors starting height: Pflaggstettler - 6'8" Lesgettham - 6' 9" Yellope - 6' 7" Palmer - 6' 6" Mighty - 6' 7" Gonzalez - 6' 8" Mello - 6' 3" Babson - 6' 8" Kappe - 6' 6" Ivanov - 6' 6" Eckberg - 6' 7" Soldier - 6' 7" Gunner - 6' 11" Elli - 6' 6" Cat - 6' 3" Nights - 6' 9" Last edited by Breeze : 08-24-2005 at 06:55 AM. |

I have worked with albionmoonlight through PM to finish up Mello's jumps. He said the results of others wouldn't affect his strategy and he had no problems continuing until he was finished. Anyone else who would prefer to run the event through PM is welcome to contact me. |

Since most of my results are 6'7" to 7', I will jump at 6'7, skip to 6'9, and then go till either I miss out or hit 8 jumps (or max height)

EVENT 4 - HIGH JUMP - Status Update
I have completed this event with: Pflaggstettler Mello Babson Gunner Cat Yellope (I finished him using the instructions listed in the post above - picking up the jumps at 6' 9" and jumping at every new height until maxed out, reaching 8 jumps, or 3 misses whichever came first) and am scheduled to finish with Gonzalez this morning. We are now on 6' 8" and I'll need instructions from: Kappe Soldier Palmer before I can continue. Unfortunately, Kappe and Soldier are 2 that haven't gotten instructions in for a while - so I expect I'll have to wait until tomorrow to continue the event. (I'm open for suggestions. If you see them online maybe PM to them that we need instructions before we can move on.) If anyone active wants to complete the event through PM I'm still open to that option.
