Nice to see Archie Manning during the Pats game, just like the GEFL version of the Pats.

I was guessing he'd retired, based on his performance out there.

twas under 2 minutes so it couldn't be. pissed me off that the booth didn't review it though. I've seen far less questionable things reviewed by the guys upstairs under two minutes. Grrr. Ah well, it's not a perfect system i suppose.

Huh?

They may win it. Only if they outscore the Pats. Not likely, but stranger things have happened. Here is the problem. . . The Raiders defense sucks. Horribly. They are slightly better than the Chiefs defense of two years ago.

If they figure out a way to shut down the middle (and it looks like they are blitzing straight up the middle now to control it), they'll end up leaving the sidelines wide open. Look for a wheel type route down the sidelilne by Watson or Graham soon.

Also look for Branch to catch a long one. To shut down the middle, the safeties have to come up. They come up, their corners aren't staying with Branch.

I meant on Moss's "Catch" a bit ago, the Pats radio guys were saying that they thought he had it.

Sapp has been single teamed all night. Stick a fork in him, he's done. Good adjustments so far by the Raiders. Brady will have it figured out in a half a second.

If I'm the Raiders here I call trip 9's (fly patterns) down the sidelines and middle. Find the guy who is singled (or Moss if he's only doubled) and throw it deep.

I'm in full agreement. He's never been a big offseason conditiong guy, and it's probably cost him what could have been another 2-3 years of effective play.

done in terms of being an elite player maybe, but i have to believe that someone somewhere would be willing to sign him for say a minsal deal with big incentives built in. he still has some football left in him, just not as the player that he thinks he is.

and i'm no sapp fan...AT ALL

He hasn't been an elite player for quite some time, and he's not even a good one right now (nor last year).

Did he look this horrible in the preseason? He hasn't broken a single tackle tonight. he hasn't move the pile one time.

That was a strange, strange play.

he looked alright in the preseason, but he did not get a lot of carries at all. No more than maybe 30 all preason I'd guess.

Ah well, there we go, there's some Dillon running.

Aside: The Pats have had a lot of turnover on offensive line, so maybe that is contributing. Not that they're not blocking well, but just that Dillon and them aren't in total sync.

The Pats Radio on that kickoff: "To the 15 to the 20.. the 25.."

BOTH announcers at the same time "WOOOOOAHHHH!!"

no that would be now (after the 3 and out) if the Pats can go in for a score, preferably a TD, but even a FG

The Raiders have oddly abondoned the run and the deep ball.

No, they are still looking for the deep ball. The Pats have removed the ball.

i think the fact that "the raiders have abandoned the deep ball" is probably attributable to the fact that the Pats DB's have made the necessary adjustments to take the deep game away (more or less).

that's gonna be the book on the raiders this year: "don't let randy moss beat you deep."

let lamont jordan run at you all day long, make Jerry Porter beat you, but DO NOT let Moss beat you deep. Pretty one-dimensional.

that's always been the book on him. I guess it's because he's easily rattled.

edit: second time they've had an ineligable receiver downfield this quarter. someone's gonna get reamed!

When a team can get pressure on a QB rushing only three players, you got to think it might be more than the QB.

Do you realize just how stupid this sounds? This has been the goal of every team that has ever faced Randy Moss since midway through his rookie year... yet he manages to beat people deep consistently.

By saying the Raiders have "abandoned the deep ball" i mean they haven't even thrown it downfield at all in the second half. Just by seeing replays we've seen a number of plays where they could have at least thrown it in Randy's direction and hope he beat out his man.

Worse yet, it was the same guy both times.

How much do you want to bet he's earned an ass chewing when they go over films?

It's consisntely been the FB or TE missing a blizt pickup. I'm not seeing much interior pressure.

i don't think it's the same as "every team that has faced randy moss ever" cthomer. On Minnesota at least the attack was more multifaceted. Bennett could run the ball, Culpepper could improvise and wasn't as easily rattled (at least recently). My point in saying this was saying that the Raiders offense doesn't have much else going for it. Given, Jordan is a good back, but he has never started for a full season so we havn't seen yet how he'll hold up over the course of a season, or how he'll produce. He's not as good as the Minnesota running game I think we can agree, although I don't have numbers in front of me. And Collins gets rattled a ton easier than Culpepper.

My point was that the Raiders offense is more one-dimensional than Minnesota's has been in the past few years. And I don't think you can completely wipe out Moss, you can just hope to minimize the impact he has on the game. Don't let Moss beat you.
