Rams will not make the playoffs this year, no chance. Still a good trade though as it should help Bradford's development and confidence.

I dont think the Niners are an upper echelon team. Just looking forward, they have 5 games after the break that aren't vs the AFC West. Vs Browns, Vs Steelers, @Ravens, @Redskins, @Giants. That's probably not an 0-5, but it could be if the Alex Smith magic goes away.

The Rams have 6 divisional games plus 5 other games that they won't be favored in.

All I'm saying is that if the Rams and Niners are playing week 17 for the 8-8 NFC West divisional title, I'm not going to be super-shocked. Obviously the Rams need to make a move now.

Redskins, Giants, and Browns are doable. The Rams would have to go 8-3 with Dallas, NO, S.F. twice, and Pitt on the more difficult side and there are some others as well. I just don't see that big of a swing coming.

I don't think they are anywhere near the NE/GB atmosphere, but I'd be very shocked if this team that beat Detroit and Philadelphia on the road from behind and destroyed a 4-2 Tampa team does not win 10 games this year. Especially considering they still have 5 NFC West games left and are currently 5-1.

Redskins and Vikes will announce who their QBs will be on Wednesday. I'm betting there's changes.

Your odds of that are probably at least as good as me getting the 14 I need from the Jets defense.

Disagree with a punt there. You're 0-4, go for the 1st on 4th and inches at the 40. Don't care what the result of the punt was.

Agreed, and if you're gonna pass on third and short like that, you need to be prepared to go for it on 4th down. Looks like it worked out here, but the problem with the Fins in the Sparano era has been overly conservative playcalling and this was another sign of it.

Marshall is all-in on Suck for Luck. He skillfully avoided a TD there while making it look like he lost his balance.

an aside: what is the value in hiring a spokesperson whose identity needs to be explicitly laid out for the audience? I am totally going to switch car insurance, now that a transvestite caveman has introduced me to Brian Orakpo.

You know I fell for the hype, and drafted him for my fantasy team. Heck, in just the handful of plays I've watched here with him isolated, I think he might be the single laziest dog it every other down receiver I've ever noticed.

Not to mention that he's self confessed that he's been medically diagnosed as an asshole.

Orakpo and Justin Tuck have the best agents in sports.

Haven't had a chance to read this thread but just wanted to mention that the loss by the Lions yesterday was brutal. Give a lot of credit to the niners defense, but I have to question some of the decisions by Stafford and the offensive playcalling by Detroit was sketchy at times.

Ah well, 5-1 is still better than 0-6....

That's national? I'd assumed it was tailored by locale and locally shot (low production values ftw!).

This is Sparano-ball.

Example: Last year Dolphins outgained their opponents in 10 games, but only had 7 wins to show for it.

They cant get Luck if they win games. They are probably keeping him around as the head coach this season to do what he does best. Find ways to lose games they should win.

On this subject of franchise QBs. How good are the Colts making Peyton Manning look right now? Based on what we are seeing Manning is worth 10+ wins to a team each year.

I wonder if Luck is going to have a list of teams he doesn't want to play for - and if so would Miami be on that list? Personally I wouldn't want to play for Sparano but if they do go 1-15 that's not going to be a problem any more.

Now that the money isn't a big deal, I wonder if we will see any FU holdouts. Luck playing wherever he wants to wouldn't cost him as much salary as it previously would.

It's always the all-world once in a lifetime players that consider it (Lindros, Elway). And he doesn't need the money. Wouldn't surprise me one bit.

Assuming the Colts are in the top 10 and he's willing to learn from Manning for a year or two I can definitely see him telling every one else that he wants to go there.

Brandon Marshall with perhaps the most worthless 100 yard receiving game in NFL history.

I'm not sure the Dolphins get enough national credit for being a terrible franchise....(or, whatever the opposite is of "credit"). 1 Playoff game in a decade (which they lost). If the Bills and Lions make the playoffs this year, I think the Dolphins may stand alone as the worst franchise of the 21st century.

Miami was ok kind of bad, or at least had a pulse at times. Lions had a stretch of 2-30. They have two streaks of losing on the road to divisional teams that date back to 1995 and beyond. Before this year the Lions were something like 1-17 in divisional road games. The sad thing about the 0-16 team is you could tell they were actually trying.

One name that hasn't gotten tossed around in the Miami debacle is Bill Parcells. I know he's not there anymore, but the decisions he made have had a huge impact right now. Ireland and Sparano were his guys.

He would deserve for all of the years being underrated.

While Cassell has proved he is a solid NFL QB the Pats were a 11 win team without Brady.

This does make you wonder if the Colts have had that much talent over the years or if Manning has just been that good.

Mike Sims Walker must be a horrible person. Not tendered after his third year in Jacksonville, despite being their #1WR on paper. Then got cut by the Rams, a WR starved franchise.

Couple of random thoughts after finally getting to see all the highlights from this week

Is Jimmy Graham going to be even better than Gates and even Gonzalez? He's breaking some of those records already which is insane considering he played one year of college and no HS before that.

Has anyone's star risen and then fallen as fast as Peyton Hillis? From nobody to Madden cover boy and well on the way to being nobody again. Probably cost himself millions of dollars so far this season and what a cautionary tale about crappy agents and taking bad advice.

While I agree that Peyton is a great player, at the same time a lot of these Colts problems would have been apparent even with him. The defense is terrible. The team is old and hasn't drafted any impact players. Peyton would have masked this to some degree, but to what degree? Would they have won 12 games with Peyton and the rest of this team? 10?

8 or 9. They're on the downswing, but still might have won that division given Houston's skill at giving away games.

I think if you look at brother Eli you'll see what horrible receivers can do. While he's certainly made bad throws, he has receivers that are borderline actively TRYING to make him look bad. At least Peyton has had receivers that can get open and make a catch.

So he hasn't had the worst team in football behind him, but he has certainly added a few wins per year to the team.

Shanahan didn’t see how Lichtensteiger injured his knee on a play left tackle Trent Williams called “dirty.” The coach also hasn’t been able to find film that showed the injury, either.

Chris Russell said the same on 980. Wasn't in the broadcast, couldn't find it on film. So I can't say that the play wasn't dirty, but I'm not sure how one can give a detailed description of it either.
