You forgot the part where Shorty does a run in to help SkyDog, then shockingly wallops him from behind with a chair and embraces HornsManiac to a chorus of boos. Jim Ross: "somebody better tell me this ain't happening!" |

Then it will be settled in a PPV 2 weeks later where, gasp Wignifty will come out of suspension to partner SkyDog against HM and Shorty in a steel cage match! Quoting SD, "Though I've never liked nifty, he's been one tough competitor and I know having him in my corner will be the difference maker"

Although I haven't watched wrestling since I was 11, the wrestling analogies are hillarious. You guys need to realize that you LOVE to hate this guy. I mean 5 pages on every thread with him as the topic since he's been banned. Don't deprive yourselfs, bring him back, you all obviously want it to happen.

Wether its real, or wehter its not, doesn't really matter. His letter brings up a very valid situation however.
In many many companies, all it would take is being able to review some of our posts here, or anywhere else, to get us fired. They could do so for what you post, for the fact that you post at all. I have a VERY hard time believing the people who say they are just "playing a role" I'm sorry, but having acted on occasion, taken some acting classes, and being an internet addict for well over 10 years now. I know that A) everyone can act and that B) anyone who can act, does so by letting out part of themselves that may or may not normally show. Can someone act completely differently? sure, can they do it over a long period of time (months/years) I don't think so. Over time you're own personality comes out. wether you notice it or intend it to. If in fact horns got shitcanned from Dell, I tend to feel that it was his own doing, perhaps yes, someone did drop them a message/call, something...and they tracked hi from that. But common sense says that the most basic option is probably true. Companies don't fire people for frivolous shit. They make a case, they tend to warn you multiple times, and then they drop the hammer. I lost a job due to the internet in 1999. I had been warned in writing 17 times, SEVENTEEN. and this was a company not much smaller than Dell. I just don't see this one event sending him packing. Could it have been the final straw? hell yeah. He is responsible for his own postings. if someone led them to the stuff he's said on MANY occasions..then he did himself in. I just can't believe it was the only thing. It doesn't follow any standard business procedures. Do I think he deserved to get canned? I dunno. I did, so I guess he does too. but thats a personal view. Do I hope he and his family to be move on with their lives? absolutely. Sometimes lessons like this help people get their head out of their asses. Horns: Good luck. I hope they word your dismissal in a way that won't ruin your life. Its a damn fine line between the net and your family. Try not to keep hopping around it. better yet, erase it altogether, don't live two lives. People aren't bright enough to manage it and succeed. FWIW, I copied the section from our Policy Manual regarding personal internet usage. As a note, the only provision that has been enforced in our 1800-employee public company is what is highlighted in bold.

pjstp -- I think you might be reading just a bit more into this than is there. I don't know about the everybody else in the thread, but I've kept reading mostly because I think the situation as described is something very real to consider. I'd have about as much interest in seeing how it plays out if it were a complete stranger on a random board.
Even if HM is laughing his ass off as we speak, having put one over on some folks here, I've known of at least two other situations where someone's online performance was directly related to their "RL" firing and I honestly believe that it's something that won't be all that unusual within a few years. It'll be treated roughly the same as some action taken on the town square, because that's what the internet becomes a little more each day. Jon

I'm a manager at a big corporation and I agree that downloading porn is the only way I've ever seen someone get fired without multiple warnings for internet use. I did see someone fired for running an outside business over the internet at work, but they were warned like 5 times to stop. Everything else is always at least 3 warnings and then usually something well short of termination. Most companies can simply terminate your internet access it they want. Of course, if they wanted to get rid of HM anyway, it's not beyond a company to use something like this to pressure him to accept whatever termination package they want to give. Firing someone for cause is actually much harder than you would think. Companies are far too afraid of lawsuits, so unless it's an obvious thing (like downloading porn) it can be tough to get fired. |

Also, in my efforts to find posts in which I have professed deep love for Ben (there are others, by the way!), I did find the time when mrskippy told some to go fuck themselves and I said, "I think you made baby Jesus cry." I have been proud of that one for a while, but I never get any QOTM love. Or how about the time HM came asking for advice on buying a $5,000 mink coat for his "girlfriend," and I said, "What is she, a hooker?" and he jumped all over me. Ah, the good old days. |

I think we should ceremoniously immolate it in gasoline fed flames, and whenever anyone asks "Whatever happened to that troll, HornsManiac", you can point to the urn of ashes.

My favorite part of the whole HM endgame was when he sent that form PM to everyone who he felt had insulted him. Let me go see if I still have it....

I'm enjoying the fact we are still rediculing him a year later. Then again, I still hold a grudge over his weaselness (that led to the SBL dying)

Yeah, here we go... from [deleted user]:
I am currently suspended for two weeks, but SkyDog is going to investigate further so it could be removed soon. In the meantime I cannot post on the board, but I can send PMs. I wanted to ask you a few questions privately. I trust you have enough dignity to keep our PM conversations here and away from the forum. Why did you find it impossible to refrain from making snide remarks to and/or about my innocent family and me? My post was clearly a sincere effort to seek information on a very serious issue. I had not attacked or insulted anyone and you had no reason to say the things you said. I have not ever, to my knowledge, insulted you. If I am forgetting something please point it out to me. If it was an unprovoked insult definitely point it out to me so that I can promptly apologize and eat my words. Now assuming I have not ever degraded you personally please tell me why on earth you would go to such great lengths to belittle my family? Also, why would you try so hard to make me an enemy? Your behavior simply doesn’t make sense. If you have or had issues with me about anything why have I not received a private message from you expressing your concerns? Is using the open forum simply a way to draw attention to yourself and encourage others to help you stone me? If it is, then in fact I do feel bad for you and hope you seek attention for such unstable thoughts. Do you truly have that much hatred built up for someone you have never even met or even remotely known? For your sake, let’s hope not and I say this for many reasons. The tide is slowly turning and more and more people are realizing that virtually terrorizing Horns constantly is not as cool as it used to be. Almost daily I get supportive messages from members of FOFC. Just reading that thread you can see at least two people who were previously known to carry ill feelings for me step and try to make things right. Please respond back with any questions, comments, or concerns you may have and I promise to get you a sincere answer right away. I hope to hear from you soon and begin working to heal some of this unnecessary bad blood. HornsManiac
