I don't see what's so funny about Antmeister's pic. I've wanked to it three or four times tonight.

As many pictures as I have of myself, just about the only pictures I have of my wife are from our wedding and from her graduation. I have a couple more from when I was just goofing off with my camera, but I don't have many. I need more pictures of her. Yes. Yes, I do. Anyway, in the meantime, here's a picture that some of you have seen before and is about three years old. My wife had more hair then.

Good eye. For a couple halloweens in fact My wife and Andrew do indeed share a passion for all things Spider-Man. She told me she watched it with him in the afternoon when he was about a year old (1997-98) instead of watching some of the asinine afternoon talkshows that were on.

Andrew's interest in Spider-Man has sort of faded recently, especially since the release of SW: Episode III. Since that moment, he and the wife are into a major Star Wars trip, watching one of the three originals on rotation every weekend

He wants to be Darth Vader for Halloween this year

Well since I was given the okay to post a pic of the wife (Dodgerchick), she has allowed me to only post this one pic of her and the kids. This was at "Rawhide" (a tourist spot that recreates a western town). I personally like the pics with her hair down, but she insisted that this be the only one to post.

Your Andrew and my Andrew have a lot in common, it seems. My Andrew is so obsessed with Star Wars that he will sing the John Williams orchestral pieces at the top of his lungs as sort of his own personal soundtrack. Not just when he's playing Star Wars... when he's getting dressed, eating breakfast, etc.

And for God's sakes... don't buy the LEGO Star Wars game for your child. He will (and your wife too) become addicted.

My kids are the same way about Star Wars. In fact, my wife bought them each their own light sabre because they kept fighting over the two we had.

The daily carnage that occurs because of that decision is something to behold.

It seems so that they do indeed have a lot in common. Everytime I see one of your post relating to something your Andrew did, I pretty much always can translate it to something ours does Andrew translates his SW addiction in doing the lightsaber sound and making fake lightsaber fights with about anything that resembles a sword (unopened umbrella, plastic baseball bat, flashlight, name it). And since he's been doing kenpo for a few years now, he sometimes incorporates kicks and punches in his choregraphy. I can simply sit there, in hiding, watching him fight imaginary evil. Too cute

Err, good advice, simply a bit too late. We are doomed. Didn't help that the wife, in the good maechanical engineer that she is, was already addicted to legos, but when SW legos came through the door, well, that was it...

The LEGO's themselves are bad enough, but I was talking about the video game. DO NOT BUY THE GAME!!!

although it is pretty fun.

My 5 year old, Avery, received two light sabers for his birthday this year from the in laws. He wields them dual, and goes after the evil ones with fury. He isn't as addicted to it as he once was. The kid is an army fanatic, and has already told us he wants to be in the army, my wife is freaking out...

In the meantime, I am just watching a miniature me, cause I was the exact same way when I was his age.

Oh, video game? You mean PC or console? If it's console, then we're safe, none of these evil things have entered our house yet, although I'm pretty sure Andrew will start lobbying for one very soon (he's 8 and a half).

If it's PC, hrm, I could get tempted, for him I mean. I would never play one of his computer game.

Can't tell if he's been to the Hasbro one in particular, but yeah, he's been to SW sites, pointing out stuff he'd want us to buy. He showed me this Darth Vader halloween costume that was selling for an ungodly price, something like $65. To me, that's 65 US dollars, or about 258 CANADIAN DOLLARS!!!! (seriously, it's a little over 80 bucks canadian, but still way too much for a frigging costume)

After he won that eBay bid for the Yu-Gi-Oh card, his web privileges have been on operation lockdown.

Andrew knows how to get to nickjr.com and that's it.

And yes, LEGO Star Wars is available for the PC, although we own the X-Box version of it.

My Andrew, at 8, is getting to the point that I'm starting to watch where he's going on the net. He spends a lot of time playing on the lego website. They have some pretty well done online game, mainly in for their Racers series. And he also likes to browse their Bionicle section.

As for the PC game, I may have to look into it. I know you warned me, but it could make for a nice Xmas gift. At least one that doesn't take up too much room in the already crowded playroom The fight could be about time spent on the computer, but we have a 30-45 minutes per day limit which Andrew is quite accustomed to, hehe...

not really, although there are some weird lego sites, but he's started writing about anything that comes to his head in the address field of the browser, thus taking him to many weird search engine sites. For example, somebody may have registered a site called www.spidre-man.com (it's not the case in this case, but note the inversed "r" and "e") and it takes him to a search engine with a ton and a half of links to commercial sites about spider-man and other stuff... Never too young to start monitoring...

After my daughter did this, I gave them their own account on my machine, and I then locked down the account, and their browsing, they can only visit

Nick Jr
Discovery Kids
Disney
Cartoon Network

Thats it, they can not surf any where else, and if they want to, I will look at the site, and then if I want to, I will add it into the list of sites.

I'll be there soon enough. Right now, our 6 year old is only interested in Playhouse Disney and similar sites. I don't think she understands the concept of browsing yet.

wait until she starts reading, even a little bit. That's when I realized that Andrew was reading internet addresses off trucks, cars, signs. He has visited about every website for every car dealers in our immediate area

My daughter's been reading for several years, actually. Hell, my wife and I had to stop spelling things to each other before she even turned 4. She's the youngest in her 1st grade class, yet reads at a 4th grade level.

I guess she just isn't as curious about those kinds of things. Either that, or she hasn't made the connection. I think what helps is that I've bookmarked and placed as an icon on the desktop several of her favorite sites, so she has never, to my knowledge, even attempted to type in a website address. Also, most of her time on the computer is spent playing games.

No, quite unlike me, she actually says things like, "Please turn down the music, it's hurting my ears!" So I don't think she goes for most of my music. I burned my daughter a CD with the Beatles, Cars, Collective Soul, Ben Kweller, and Doug Powell tracks on it. Sadly, no Dimmu Borgir tracks made the final cut.

Draft Dodger -- re: the "iceberg photo" - your little guy reminds me a lot of my little guy at that age, the profile was strikingly similar IMO. Kind of a "Whoa!" sort of resemblance for me.

Okay, that's got little to do with anything, but I figured I'd mention it.

And for God's sakes... don't buy the LEGO Star Wars game for your child. He will (and your wife too) become addicted.

And thus, two more innocent souls began their downward spiral which would eventually lead them to become frequent posters in the FOFC community.

many home have one yeah, as surprising as it may be. I've been thinking about that, the reason why, with about 2.5 months of usable time, so many people have a pool in their backyards. I came to the conclusion that, with Winters so cold and that seem to last so long (snow on the ground from December to sometimes May), people feel like they just have to enjoy as much good time outside as they can. I think it's for tha reason that we have more people that have a pool than people who have air conditioning on their house...

I'll give her your compliment (although I'm pretty sure she's read this thread and already knows it.

She works at Buff State in computing services or some such. SHe's a whiz bang programming type.

I am not worthy of my fine woman.
