How was that not a penalty on Favre after the play? Last I knew throwing the ball down was an automatic penalty while on the field.

Wonder if anyone else noticed that he was facemasked on the way down. sucks when you get facemasked tackled and fumble. how does that work if the penalty is called?

I disagree with him being facemasked, but if that penalty was called it would negate the fumble. |

OK, every team needs a guy upstairs to calm down these coaches with a dose of reality. Let them watch the TV feed if necessary. Calm down Childress and Peterson, that is a clear fumble. Although calling a timeout right now has benefits beyond giving the booth time to look at the play.

We are a coach away from being alright come playoff time. Childress called his nice conservative game to get them down 16-0 before opening it up and watching the offense take off. Next week it goes right back to conservative game calling. Its like Childress got tired of Favres success so he is trying to muzzle it all up. |

Nope. The Vikings are what they are until Childress opens the game up. Im hoping this was a good thing so dipshit coach can realize the Vikings play their best when opening it up. If they let Favre pass the ball they are one of the best teams in the NFL, if Childress thinks they can run the ball and score, they will be out in the 1st round whoever they play. far from a gimme though @ Dallas. if Philly doesn't thought and the Vikings get the 2 seed, seeing as they are undefeated at home this season, I can see them making the playoffs a pretty good race.

So lets say this scenario happens:
Vikes Win, Cards Lose, Cowboys Win. Saints #1, Vikes #2, Cowboys #3, Cards #4, #5 Packers, #6 Eagles. That is crazy, to go from playing for a #2 seed to becoming the #6 seed and causing two matchups that happened the week before. Pack vs Cards and Eagles at Cowboys. Hilarious. Packers @ Saints, Eagles @ Vikings (I would pick Eagles over them this time...) If Vikes lose, Cards win, Eagles Win.... the seedings change completely. Saints, Eagles, Cards, Vikes, Packers, Cowboys. Cowboys @ Cards, Packers @ Vikes --- Cards win, Vikes win, Vikes @ Saints, Cards @ Eagles. I'll take my chances with that as a Vikings fan. One way or another, the playoffs should be exciting...but we get one more week of this excitement.. or in the Vikings fan's case, one more week of what the hell is Childress doing? |

It's also crazy that if the vikes and eagles lose, and cards win, the cards get the #2 seed!

Why is it so fucking hard for analysts to just say that the rules for coaching Favre are different then the rules for coaching any an everyone else? The rules are not the same for everyone. All that bullshit coachspeak about treating everyone the same and having everyone follow the same rules is just that.....BULLSHIT COACHSPEAK. It is not as big of a deal as people make of it when another star player goes outside of what his coach wants if he feels it is best for the team whether it is Brett Favre or not.

But yes, 10-5 can be collapsing if you start 7-2 and then go 3-3 with single-digit wins at home over Cleveland, Detroit and Kansas City - and lose one of your best defensive players as icing on the cake. Or even when you're 13-2 if you started 11-0, looked unbeatable against a good team, then proceeded to beat a terrible team only because of an epic collapse and lost 2 straight at home, including to one of the worst teams in the NFL when trying to clinch homefield. And 11-4 can be too when you start 10-1 and are subsequently getting destroyed at the line of scrimmage by under .500 teams. |

Your expecations are a little high I believe. It is the NFL. The Vikings seem to have fallen off from the high expectations they had earlier because Childress is an idiot but the other two teams seem fine. The Vikings are notorious for this type of thing so its really not unexpected. Started 5-0 one year didnt make the playoffs. Only 15-1 team to not make the Super Bowl. Lost 4 Super Bowls. They are as cursed franchise as there is in the NFL.
The Eagles lost to the Raiders as the Saints lost to the Bucs as the Vikings lost to the Bears. I dont think anyone really thought the Bengals were any higher than a 6th-12th best team which is how they have been playing IMO. The Titans lost 59-0 and followed it by winning 7 out of 8 games. When I think of collapse I think of the Mets blowing a huge lead a couple of years ago or the Tigers epic collapse to the Twins this year. Even the Best(or 2nd best) team IMO in NFL history lost their most important game of the year. 2007 Pats. Long story short. I think its hard to judge a collapse in the NFL as the sample size is really small playing only 16 games. Last edited by jbergey22 : 12-29-2009 at 10:13 AM. |
