Iraqi republican guard dressing as American soldiers, accepting the surrender of Iraqi soldiers and then executing them. That is reportedly going on in and near Basrah (sp?). This has not been confirmed yet, but is being reported.

Iraqi information ministers say 14 civilians killed in Baghdad market when cruise missiles hit area. US Central Command investigating, not confirming. Reporters say there are two large craters in the area, and a lot of damage.

Republican guard unit with 1000 vehicles said to be headed for Marines in central Iraq.

And in An Nasiriyah, coalition forces took a hospital that was being used as a staging ground for paramilitary forces. They found 3,000 chemical suits, ammo, military uniforms, and a T-55 tank.

NEAR BASRA, Iraq — British forces engaged a column of Iraqi armored vehicles -- tanks and armored personnel carriers -- that filed out of the southern city of Basra late Wednesday, a British military source said.

The source said coalition aircraft as well as ground units were hitting the column, which he estimated at about 120 vehicles.

CNN: Coalition officials said that Iraqi forces in Najaf and Basra have threatened Iraqis with death if they don't pick up arms against U.S.-led forces. "Iraqi paramilitaries are rounding up children and others from their homes, saying males must fight for the regime or be executed," said Jim Wilkinson, assistant to CentCom leader Tommy Franks. Burridge, the British commander, said the ruling Baath Party militia in Basra is pressuring remnants of the Iraqi army's 51st Division to reoccupy their equipment after intimidating them and by executing some soldiers' families in some instances.

First Woman Soldier Lost

Pvt. Jessica Lynch, 19

Excerpt:
"A PRETTY 19-year-old country girl who joined the US Army to escape unemployment was feared to be the first woman soldier to die yesterday.

Supply clerk Jessica was feared dead after five survivors from the ambush were paraded before Iraqi TV cameras in sickening footage beamed around the world on Sunday.

Also shown were the bodies of the other seven members of the 507th Maintenance Co convoy, but Jessica’s parents could not identify her among them.

Her father Greg Lynch said: “The only thing they can tell us is she’s missing."

Glad to hear that GrantDawg.

"Supply lines, under continued assault from Iraqi guerillas, appear to be under duress, with troops running low on food, water and fuel. With some U.S. troops reportedly down to one meal a day, soldiers are calling the 250-mile-long supply lines — a network of roads toward U.S. troops south of Baghdad — "ambush alley."

April 1 — Two Newsday journalists and two freelance photographers who were imprisoned for more than a week in Iraq sent word Tuesday that they had been released unharmed and had left the country. Although they were not physically threatened during their captivity, they were subjected to psychological duress, including death threats by their Iraqi guards.

German Foreign Minister Joschka Fischer said Wednesday he hoped Saddam Hussein's government would collapse quickly, marking a stark turnaround from Germany's previous opposition to regime change as a goal of the U.S.-led war.

"We hope the regime will collapse as soon as possible and we'll have no further loss of life -- civilians or soldiers," Fischer said before a meeting with his British counterpart, Jack Straw, at a hotel in Berlin's Grunewald suburb.
