Off Season Procedures
Last year has me even more determined to start getting my own recruits in place at Chapel Hill and get back to the round of 8 and actually win it this time! My coaching skills have increased. They now look like this: Recruiting 90 Scouting 76 Offense 87 Defense 87 Our recruiting class was ranked #6 in the country. Oklahoma State had the #1 ranked class. Team prestige is up to 85 and the AD is delighted with my performance. He now expects me to treach the final four. Just one job offer, and we decline it. It was from Wisconsin. Our lead scout left for a head position and we will need to replace him. 39 year old Jimmie Luce comes aboard and he is rated 89 in scouting. We are invited to the Maui Shootout as a 3 seed, and we accept. We have 10 other games to schedule, and here they are: American Navy Elon Rutgers Syracuse Long Island Air Force Harvard Southern Campbell Recruiting begins and we have 4 scholarships to offer. We cut a walk on and free up another scholarship offer. We land 2 early recruits. SF Austin Lavallee, from Stockton, IL, has committed to UNC. Austin is a 4 star recruit and #28 overall. He has a great inside outside scoring game and is just a terrific defender anywhere on the court. He also pulls down a ton of rebounds.
C Guy Bradshaw, from Eureka Springs, AR, has committed to UNC. Guy is a 4 star recruit and #29 overall. He is above average in scoring and rebounding, and his defense is decent enough.

2046-2047 North Carolina Roster
CENTERS 43 Lionel Hespel C Jr 6'10" 228 Cap Cepet, France Lionel gets the start at center for us. His scoring is just about average, so we will not get many big games from him offensively. His defense and rebounding is above average though. POWER FORWARDS 35 Dimitri Macquet PF Sr 6' 9" 231 Lorient, France Dimitri gets the start at PF this year. His defense and rebounding are the best I have ever seen. His offense is lacking and we won’t be scoring much in the paint, but neither will our opponents, hopefully. 32 James Smith PF Jr 6'10" 271 Eugene, OR James is our only walk on this season. He can play a bit of defense and rebound as well. He will be the second backup to the C and PF spots. 5 Kevin Tomlin PF Fr 6' 8" 256 Jacksonville, FL Kevin gets a red shirt this season. SMALL FORWARDS 22 Lucas Shivers SF Sr 6' 6" 209 Virginia Beach, VA Lucas never developed as much as we hoped he would and will be getting just mop up minutes. 41 Sammy Mosier SF Sr 6' 9" 249 Cleveland, OH Sammy is a very versatile player and will back up the C, PF and SF spots, and as such, will see a good amount of playing time. 12 David Morrell SF So 6' 6" 224 Charlotte, NC David had a nice season as a freshman and will return to the starting SF spot this year. He has a very good offensive game and can also contribute to the rebounding. His defense is above average. SHOOTING GUARDS 30 Kieth Shorter SG Fr 6' 4" 206 Newberry, SC Keith is a true freshman and has a very nice jump shot as well as three pointer. He can pass the ball well and will backup the SG and PG spots. 50 Ronnie Koenig SG Fr 6' 7" 209 Cranston, RI Ronnie’s shoots lights out. He is hard to contain on the offensive side of the floor. He will get the start at SG as a true freshman. POINT GUARDS 10 Derek Patterson PG Sr 6' 0" 176 Minerva, OH Patterson is still out with injury and will be until about the end of December. When he returns, he may take over either the starting SG or PG spot, depending on performances. 25 James Brown PG So 6' 1" 187 Gladewater, TX James is a great looking point guard and will be the primary backup as a true freshman. He also has a nice 3 point shot which will get him time at the SG spot as well. 14 William McAnally PG Fr 6' 3" 215 Bristol, TN Will was a red shirt last year, but this season he will be our starting point guard. He has a good shot to keep the D honest and can cover his man well. 31 Kelvin Rosemond PG Fr 6' 3" 199 Schuylerville, NY Kelvin will backup the point, but be very limited in his playing time.

We open up the season with a #2 Ranking. I think we are way too young and inexperienced for that lofty of a ranking.

Campbell (0-0) at #2 North Carolina (0-0) We start the new season out on the right foot with a nice 88-62 victory. Koenig came out firing at the start and finished with a team high 25 points. Hespel added 17 from the Center spot, which was not expected. Macquet had 15 rebounds and Mosier added 14 points off the bench.
November 22, 2046 Southern (0-1) at #2 North Carolina (1-0) Our defense hounded them all day long and never game them an open shot. As a result we pick up the easy 82-39 victory. Koenig stays hot, putting in 32 points. Morrell added a dozen after getting shutout on opening night. Hespel grabbed 13 rebounds.
November 26, 2046 #2 North Carolina (2-0) vs. #11 Tulsa (2-0) We arrive in Maui for the Shootout, as the #3 seed. We open with a tough 6 seed. It was a close game until late when we hit a few three points to seal the 80-73 victory for us. Koenig is a budding star, again leading the team with 33 points. Morrell added 19 and Macquet had 12 boards.
November 27, 2046 #2 North Carolina (3-0) vs. Kansas (1-2) Kansas is the 2 seed this year, and despite the ugly start, they are a very dangerous team. The prove it by advancing to the Championship round with a 82-67 victory over our young team. Koenig led the team in scoring again, but they held him to just 15 points. McAnally added 12 and Hespel had 11 with 14 boards.
November 28, 2046 #2 North Carolina (3-1) vs. #1 Fresno State (2-1) It is rare that you see a #1 vs. #2 matchup during the season, never mind in the third place game of the Maui Shootout! We get thumped by 20 points today, 99-79, and our kids hopefully learned a lesson from this tournament. They are young and will improve though. Koenig scored 29 points today while Hespel had 16 with 10 boards.
November Recap C Myles Carrell, from Visalia, CA, has committed to UNC. Miles is a 4 star recruit and #23 overall. He has a great scoring game inside and can really play defense. He won’t grab that many rebounds for us though.
SF Ellis Schulte, from Washington, DC, has committed to UNC. Ellis is a 4 star recruit and #30 overall. He is really much more of a PF, but struggles to rebound.
Each day will be a learning experience for this team. Top 25

Harvard (1-1) at #2 North Carolina (3-2) We get back home and play the game the way we know how. It results in an easy 92-63 victory. Koenig was simply unstoppable. He poured in 49 points today. He shattered the single game school record of 43, set 14 years ago. McAnally and Macquet each had 10 boards.
We slip to #11 in the polls. December 9, 2046 Air Force (1-3) at #11 North Carolina (4-2) We continue to slice through our early season cupcake schedule with a 93-63 win. Koenig went for another 32 points today. Remember, he is a true freshman! McAnally had 21 for us and Mosier added 10 off the bench. Macquet had 17 boards while Hespel had 11.
We jump up to #7 in the polls. December 15, 2046 #7 North Carolina (5-2) at Long Island (3-3) Our first true road game is a little closer, but we still pick up the win, 93-83. Koenig once again leads us in scoring with 29 points. Morrell finally has a good game, scoring 20. Mosier added 11 off the bench.
Mid Month Recap We move up to #5 in the polls.
The ACC looks pretty tough in the early going this year. Top 25

#18 Syracuse (5-2) at #5 North Carolina (6-2) I am 0-2 against my old team, and we are hungry for a win against them, but once again they come into our arena and leave with a brutally contested win. The final score was 101-100. Koenig continues to be unstoppable though. He scored 35 points today. Morrell had 12 and 10 boards. Macquet had 19 and 12 boards and Hespel added 11.
We slip down to #9 in the latest poll. December 25, 2046 Rutgers (4-4) at #9 North Carolina (6-3) We rebound after the tough Syracuse loss and take it out on the Knights, 71-46. Koenig led the team with 28 points today. Macquet added 10 to go along with his 14 rebounds.
December 30, 2046 #9 North Carolina (7-3) at Elon (4-8) We take this road game by 11 points today, 68-57. Koenig led us with 20 points. Mosier was big off the bench, scoring 17. McAnally added 12. Macquet had 10 boards.
December Recap We are now ranked #6 in the nation. SF Marvin Trudeau, from Winchester, KY, has committed to UNC. Marvin is a 4 star recruit and #25 overall. Marvin completes a class of 5 top 30 recruits. Should easily be the #1 recruiting class in the land.
All of our losses have come to ranked teams. Top 25

Navy (3-4) at #6 North Carolina (8-3) We open up the new year with a solid 10 point win at home. The final was 76-66. Koenig was our entire offense tonight, scoring 41 points. He has a good shot at being named Freshman of the Year, nationally, and I am happy to have him coming back next season.
We slip down to #7 in the polls, despite getting 24 first place votes. Also, Patterson will be fully healthy for our next game. He will take over for NcAnally at the point. January 9, 2047 #7 North Carolina (9-3) at #24 Toledo (9-1) We open the conference season with a huge 1 point win on the road, 58-57! Koenig led us with just 15 points and Patterson, in his long awaited return added 13 points.
January 12, 2047 #22 Duke (8-4) at #7 North Carolina (10-3) We return home of our home conference opener and just take it to the hated Blue Devils, 76-50. Koenig led the way with 29 points today. Mosier added a dozen off the bench. Macquet had 11 boards.
We move up to #4 in the polls. January 16, 2047 #4 North Carolina (11-3) at Fordham (7-7) We go back on the road and take care of business against a lesser opponent with a 71-60 victory. Once again, Koenig was out entire offense, basically. He scored 35 points today.
Mid Month Recap
We have a big early season showdown with Wake Forest coming up. Top 25

#4 North Carolina (12-3) at #2 Wake Forest (12-2) We don’t want to get too high or too low with the results of this game, but when it is all over, it is hard not to celebrate pretty hard. We take Wake down, on their court, 65-62! They shut Koenig down today, holding him to just 6 points. Others stepped up though. Macquet put up 17 points to lead the team. Patterson added 10 and Mosier had 14 off the bench.
We are now the #1 ranked team in the country! January 23, 2047 #1 North Carolina (13-3) at #19 Iowa (11-4) We come back down to earth today, and get our asses handed to us, 82-55. Koenig had 15 points and Patterson added 14. Morrell had 9 points and 10 boards.
January 25, 2047 American (6-11) at #1 North Carolina (13-4) I think that #1 ranking has gone to our heads. We come out flat, thinking we just need to show up to win this one. Instead a lousy American team comes into the Dean Dome and beats us, soundly, 55-45. Koenig had 20 and nobody else showed up.
We slip down to #6 in the polls, which is for the best. January 30, 2047 #6 North Carolina (13-5) at West Virginia (9-6) We hit the road and rebound from our last loss with a nice 59-53 win today. Koenig led us in scoring with 21. Morrell added 13 and Macquet had 10 boards.
January Recap
It looks like 4 teams have a legit chance at the top spot in the ACC this year. Top 25

#5 North Carolina (14-5) at #23 Maryland (12-9) We come off of a very long layoff and look very sharp, beating an overrated Maryland team on the road today, 74-61. Koenig again leads us in scoring today, with 18 points. Hespel had a dozen while Morrell, Patterson, and Mosier all scored in double figures as well.
We slip down to #8 in the polls. February 16, 2047 Maryland (12-11) at #8 North Carolina (15-5) After another week long layoff, we come out and look like and NBA squad, crushing Maryland, 78-39. Mosier came off the bench to lead the team in scoring with 16. Macquet had 13 points and 13 boards. Morrell also had 13 points. Koenig and Shorter each scored in double figures as well.
We move up to #4 in the polls. Mid Month Recap

#5 Wake Forest (19-5) at #4 North Carolina (16-5) Both teams struggled to put up a lot of points this game. Wake came through with a last second bucket to stun us, 57-56. Macquet led the team with 17 points and 13 boards. Hespel added 13 and 10.
February 20, 2047 Southwest Missouri State (9-11) at #4 North Carolina (16-6) Once again we are able to shake off a tough loss with an easy, dominating win. The final score was 61-42. Koenig led the team with 26 points today. Patterson scored 10 with 8 assists.
February 23, 2047 West Virginia (10-13) at #4 North Carolina (17-6) A pretty nice victory today at home, as it should be. The final score is 69-58. Koenig led us with 25 points while McAnally added 10 off the bench.
We are now ranked #6. February 25, 2047 #6 North Carolina (18-6) at Southwest Missouri State (10-12) We barely scrape out a win on the road today, 62-61. Koenig led us with 22 points and we needed every single one of them. Macquet added 17 with 10 boards and Morrell had 10 points.

We are still within striking distance, just 1 back in the loss column with 4 games to play. Top 25

We are ranked #5 in the polls. March 6, 2047 #7 Iowa (22-5) at #5 North Carolina (20-6) This game could very well decide the top spot in the ACC regular season. They come into our gym and whip us good, 83-64. A humbling loss today. Morrell led the team with 15 points and Koenig was held to just 14. Macquet had 10 boards.
March 9, 2047 Fordham (10-18) at #5 North Carolina (20-7) Our offense struggled somewhat, but our defense took care of business in a 56-47 victory. Mosier led us in scoring off the bench with just 12 points. Koenig had 11 and Hespel had 10.
March 13, 2047 #7 North Carolina (21-7) at Duke (16-12) Our regular season finale is a huge rivalry game, on the road at Cameron Indoor Stadium. Duke pulls the big upset, 59-55, and we go into the postseason a bit down. We did not have a single player score in double figures today.
Final ACC Standings
We are the 3 seed in the ACC Tournament. March 15, 2047 (3) #7 North Carolina (21-8) vs. (6) Maryland (15-16) We bow out in the first round of the ACC Tournament with a 87-86 loss. We have now dropped two straight games heading into the NCAA tournament.

Patterson just did not seem the same this season. Was it my imagination or did he just not perform as well. I guess it could be becasue he didn't have the same talent around him. I thought he would have a better year.

I was hoping for a bit more from him. I wonder if the game has some code which limits players after a bad injury. That SF I had, Lucas Shivers, never contributed or imprived much after his injury.

Our prestige went up one point, to 86. The AD is delighted with my performance, and he expects me to reach the Final Four. Our recruiting class was ranked #2 in the nation. Wake Forest had the #1 ranked class. Kansas offers me a job, but I decline. Our coaching assistant left, so we will have to find a new one. We hire 56 year old Harold Usher. He is rated 65 on offense and 44 on defense. We are invited to the Rainbow Classic as the #2 seed, and we accept. We have 10 other games to schedule this year, and we will make an effort to increase our strength of schedule. Here are the teams we schedule for this season: Indiana Syracuse Colgate Rhode Island Georgia Air Force Nebraska Hartford Virginia Rutgers That might be the toughest schedule in the nation! Recruiting begins and we have just 1 scholarship to offer. We get the one guy we wanted in the early signing period. PF Randolph Vetter, from Colchester, CT, has committed to UNC. Vetter is a very good offensive power forward. His potential on defense is very high, but will need polishing.

CENTERS 43 Lionel Hespel C Sr 6'10" 231 Cap Cepet, France Hespel once again gets the start at Center for us in his senior year. His rebounding and defense is just fine and his offense seems to be coming a long a bit. 34 Guy Bradshaw C Fr 7' 0" 241 Eureka Springs, AR Guy gets a red shirt this season. 53 Myles Carrell C Fr 6'10" 221 Visalia, CA Myles also gets a red shit this year. POWER FORWARDS 32 James Smith PF Sr 6'10" 272 Eugene, OR James is a walk on and we actually see a little time backing up the post positions. He won’t come in and score at all, but he plays really good defense and can rebound. 5 Kevin Tomlin PF Fr 6' 8" 257 Jacksonville, FL Kevin was a red shirt last year and almost got the start at PF for us. He has very good skills, but I think we have a better lineup going a bit smaller due to Lavellee’s excellent PF skills. SMALL FORWARDS 12 David Morrell SF Jr 6' 6" 224 Charlotte, NC David gets the start at SF once again. He has informed me he will be departing after this season. He can score, rebound and play defense with the best of them. 0 Austin Lavallee SF Jr 6' 8" 248 Stockton, IL Austin is listed as a SF, but plays much more like a PF, so he will get the start there. He has a nice inside game, but can also score outside as well. A great defender and rebounded too. 41 Ellis Schulte SF Fr 6' 6" 225 Washington, DC Ellis is a red shirt this year. 54 Marvin Trudeau SF Fr 6' 6" 221 Winchester, KY Marvin also gets the red shirt this year. SHOOTING GUARDS 30 Kieth Shorter SG So 6' 4" 207 Newberry, SC Keith is a great shooter and a very good passer. He will back up both guard spots for us this year. 50 Ronnie Koenig SG So 6' 7" 212 Cranston, RI Ronnie was the National Freshman of the Year last year and returns to the starting SG spot. Look for more huge games from him this season. 42 Jeffrey Huckaby SG Fr 6' 3" 186 Canastota, NY Jeff is a walk on who will not play. POINT GUARDS 25 James Brown PG Jr 6' 1" 187 Gladewater, TX Brown is a very good point guard and will see plenty of time off the bench. 14 William McAnally PG So 6' 3" 217 Bristol, TN Will gets the start at the point this year. He will share time with Brown and Shorter. 31 Kelvin Rosemond PG So 6' 3" 201 Schuylerville, NY Kelvin is decent enough, but will need some work on his game over the next off season. Very little time for him this year. We are ranked #3 in the preseason

November 26, 2047 Hartford (0-1) at #1 North Carolina (2-0) Hartford is still a half way decent program, with a prestige in the high 40’s. We outclass them today, although they kept it relatively close. The final was 79-65. Morrell was our leading scorer with 22 and Koenig added 21. Hespel scored 11 with 10 boards and Shorter had another 10 off the bench.

November Recap
We are looking very solid early on. Top 25

#1 North Carolina (7-0) at Colgate (4-5) No problems again on the road today. We win this one 95-75. Koenig had 30 points today while McAnally had 18 with 9 assists and Hespel scored 14. Morrell grabbed another 12 boards, which has been a pleasant surprise this season.
December 26, 2047 #1 North Carolina (8-0) vs. Ohio State (6-2) We head out to Hawaii for the Rainbow Classic, where we are the #2 seed. OSU is a very solid group and they are the 7 seed. In a low scoring affair, we take the opening round game, 59-43. Hespel was our leading scorer with 19 points. Koenig had 15 and Brown added 10 off the bench.
December 28, 2047 #1 North Carolina (9-0) vs. Pennsylvania (6-5) Penn is the 6 seed in the tournament, and they are able to hand us our first loss of the season, 83-77. Koenig went for 34 points today and Lavallee had 19 but we only had 4 other players score, and the most was McAnally with 7. Hespel did grab 14 rebounds.
December 29, 2047 #1 North Carolina (9-1) vs. Hawaii (7-5) Hawaii, the host school is the #1 seed. We play for 3rd place today. We drop two in a row now and can’t wait to get back to the mainland. The final score was 82-65. Koenig led us with just 16 points.
We slip down to #6 in the polls. December Recap SG Jose Lacour, from Coxsackie, NY, has committed to UNC. Jose is a 4 star recruit and #35 overall. He is a great shotoer and really excels going down into the paint. His perimeter defense shows a ton of potential.
I have no idea why I continue to go to these preseason tournament. I never fare well in them. Top 25

Syracuse (7-5) at #6 North Carolina (9-2) We start off the new year with an unranked, but very dangerous Syracuse squad, that I can never seem to beat. The trend continues this season as we lose, 92-86. Koenig led us in scoring with 25 points. Hespel had 16 with 10 boards. Morrell added 13 points.
January 5, 2047 #4 Indiana (9-2) at #6 North Carolina (9-3) We have now dropped 4 straight games after winning our first 9. The final here was 90-82. Koenig led the team with 33 points today. McAnally was his only help, scoring 17. Tomlin had 11 boards off the bench.
We drop down to #13 in the polls. January 8, 2047 #13 North Carolina (9-4) at #25 Wake Forest (9-4) We finally snap our losing streak against one of the top teams in conference play. Nice to start the ACC schedule with a win on the road. The final score was 75-66. Koenig led us to the win with 26 points. Hespel had 12 points and 10 boards. Lavallee also scored 12.
January 11, 2048 #13 North Carolina (10-4) at #20 Fordham (10-3) Fordham is putting together a great season, but we stop them in their gym, 79-72. Koenig, as always, led us in scoring with 22 points today. Lavallee added 16 and McAnally had 14. Tomlin grabbed 13 boards.
We move up to #9 in the polls. January 15, 2048 #8 Maryland (8-3) at #9 North Carolina (11-4) We pick up our third win in a row in conference play with a big time 85-75 win over another top 10 team. All 5 starters scored in double figures today, led by Koenig with 25. McAnally had 19 and Lavallee had 14 with 12 assists.
January 18, 2048 Michigan (3-11) at #9 North Carolina (12-4) Hey, I coached the wolverines for 1 season a while back. Now they are in the ACC and struggling badly. We are more than happy to add to their problems with a 69-51 win. Koenig led us with 18 points today. Hespel had 10 points and 10 boards and Morrell added 13 points.
Mid Month Recap We move up to #7 in the polls.

#1 Duke (16-1) at #7 North Carolina (13-4) The team gets booed off the court today, despite their good season and lofty national ranking. When you lose to Duke, at home, that is what happens. We drop this one 75-70. It stings. Koenig led us with 29 points. Lavalle had 11 with 14 boards and Hespel had 8 with 10 boards.
January 25, 2048 #18 Wake Forest (12-5) at #7 North Carolina (13-5) We have now dropped two games in a row at home in conference play. The final here was 74-65. We seem to go through these droughts where we can’t pick up a win. Koenig and Morrell each scored 13 points which was a team high. McAnally added 12.
We drop down to #15 in the polls. January 27, 2048 #15 North Carolina (13-6) at Iowa (11-7) Iowa is a tough out, especially on their home court. They have been struggling but put it together for our game and beat us 68-62. Koenig had 28 points, but got no help at all.
January Recap
I never expected us to be sitting in 5th place. We seem to run hot for a couple of weeks, and then cold for a week or two. Top 25

#15 North Carolina (13-7) at #20 Maryland (12-4) We finally snap the losing streak by sweeping Maryland on the year. This was a big blowout, 100-75. Koenig went crazy, scoring 41 points. Lavallee and Hespel had 11 each and McAnally and Brown had 10 each.
We drop 1 spot to #16 in the polls. February 8, 2048 Fordham (14-8) at #16 North Carolina (14-7) After a week layoff, we come out looking refreshed and take a 86-72 win here. Morrell fell one point short of having all 5 starters score in double figures. He did grab 11 boards to redeem himself. Koenig had 19 to lead us and Lavallee and Hespel had 14 each. Hespel also had 10 boards.
We jump to #12 in the polls. February 12, 2048 #12 North Carolina (15-7) at Michigan (6-14) It was ugly up here today. I am still hated for abandoning the team after just 1 season. There was lots of security there and I was just happy to take the 82-49 win and get the heck out of there. Koenig had 22 to lead us. Lavallee had 10 points and 11 boards.
February 15, 2048 Southwest Missouri State (7-13) at #12 North Carolina (16-7) We return home and take a 67-54 victory. Koenig had 32 points, a game high. Lavallee had 12 and Morrell added 12. Hespel pulled down 12 boards for us.
Mid Month Recap We stay at #12 in the polls.
The ACC is very strong up at the top this year. McAnally will miss the next game or two due to injury. Top 25

We climb to #6 in the polls.
March 4, 2048 #6 North Carolina (20-7) at Toledo (13-13) We struggled a bit, maybe looking towards the Duke game, but got it together in the second half for a 73-64 victory. McAnally returned to the starting lineup and led the team to the win with 24 points. Koenig had 22 and Brown added 10, back on the bench.
March 11, 2048 #6 North Carolina (21-7) at #9 Duke (21-7) We head into Cameron Indoor, looking for a little revenge. We are able to end the regular season on a very high note. We knock off Puke, 60-57 on their home court and celebrate an ACC regular season title right on their center court! Koenig was our entire offense, scoring 33 points today.
The bad news is that Duke took a cheap shot at Lavallee and he will miss about 3 weeks of action. Final ACC Standings
We are the Champions! March 13, 2048 (1) #6 North Carolina (22-7) vs. (8) Southwest Missouri State (11-18) We easily move on to the quarterfinals of the ACC tournament with a 82-51 win today. Koenig went for 24 points today. McAnally had 13 with 12 assists. Morrell had 10 with 11 boards.
March 14, 2048 (1) #6 North Carolina (23-7) vs. #9 Duke (22-8) Duke has a sour taste in their mouths from when we celebrated the ACC Title on their center court. Well, they couldn’t do much about it today as we beat them 2 out of 3 and advance to the ACC Finals with a 67-61 victory! Koenig had 22 and McAnally added 17.
March 15, 2048 (1) #6 North Carolina (24-7) vs. (3) Iowa (21-11) Iowa has come on very strong since we last met them, and they ensure themselves a spot in the NCAA’s with a 79-75 win over us in the Finals.

Post Season
We draw the #4 seed in the West Region of the NCAA Tournament. March 20, 2048 (4) #6 North Carolina (24-8) vs. (13) Southeastern Louisiana (20-11) We breeze through the first round of the tournament with a 98-76 victory. Koenig went for 30 points and McAnally had 29. They were trying to outdo each other at the end.
March 22, 2048 (4) #6 North Carolina (25-8) vs. (12) #11 Xavier (26-6) This game has me really worried. This Xavier team is no joke, and there is no way they should be an 11 seed. They crushed the 5 seed Southern Miss by 20 points in the first round. I was right to be worried, this is a very good team and they knock us right out of the tournament with a 71-63 victory. Yet another season with a premature and very disappointing ending.
Final Four #8 Tennessee #1 Wisconsin #6 Detroit #1 Temple Wisconsin beats Temple for the NCAA Title. High Point wins the NIT title. AWARDS Ronnie Koenig was named to the ACC First Team. He was also named ACC Player of the Year! Will McAnally was named to the ACC Second Team. David Morrell was named to the ACC Second Team. Season Stats

Yuck, once again an injury late in the season kills you. I think it is a theme. Do you think that you will have a better balanced scoring team next year? I think that may help you avoid those type of upsets better. Koenig is phenomenal, he just need someone to pick the team up when he was down versus Xavier.

Koenig will be back, but probably leave after this, his junoir year.
I redshirted 3 or 4 guys, so it is hard to say how solid, or deep we can be until I see how they come out of training camps.

Off Season Procedures
Our recruiting class was ranked #15 in the country. Indiana had the #1 ranked class. Our prestige is up to 89. The AD is still delighted with me. I am offered the Wake Forest job, but decline. Two of my assistant coaches have taken head coaching job, so I must replace them. 50 year old Houston Price is our new scout. He is rated 90. 48 year old Basil Shanks is our new recruiter. He is rated 80. We are invited to the Great Alaskan Shootout as the #3 seed. We accept the invite. We schedule the following 10 other OOC games this year: Rutgers Minnesota Hartford Texas Christian Arizona Oklahoma Florida State Grambling Georgetown Washington Recruiting begins and we have 2 scholarships to offer. We get one early commitment. PG Kerry Mitchell, from Newport, RI, has committed to UNC. Kerry is a 4 star recruit and #16 overall. His only weakness on the court is defense, and it really is not that bad at all.
As expected, Ronnie Koenig will make his junior season his last in college.

2048-2049 North Carolina Tarheels Roster
CENTERS 34 Guy Bradshaw C Fr 7' 0" 241 Eureka Springs, AR This red shirt freshman is a very, very capable backup player and will see time backing up both the PF and C spots. 53 Myles Carrell C Fr 6'10" 222 Visalia, CA Myles is just a slightly better defender than Guy, so he gets the starting nod at Center this year. He is also a red shirt freshman. POWER FORWARDS 5 Kevin Tomlin PF So 6' 8" 259 Jacksonville, FL Kevin is not a big scoring threat, but his incredible rebounding and his great defense gets him the starting job at PF this year. 11 Randolph Vetter PF Fr 6' 8" 213 Colchester, CT Randy gets a red shirt this season. SMALL FORWARDS 0 Austin Lavallee SF Sr 6' 8" 249 Stockton, IL Austin gets the start in his natural SF position this season. He can play like a PF but also has a decent jumper and plays great defense against guards as well as big men. A great versatile player. 41 Ellis Schulte SF Fr 6' 6" 225 Washington, DC Ellis also plays more like a PF, but can step out and hit the 3 pointer too. He will see some time off the bench at the PF and SF spots. 54 Marvin Trudeau SF Fr 6' 6" 224 Winchester, KY Marvin is a decent enough player, but just gets pushed out due to our depth this year. SHOOTING GUARDS 30 Kieth Shorter SG Jr 6' 5" 214 Newberry, SC Keith is an incredible scorer, but his defense lacks. He will come off the bench and score in spurts for us this year. 50 Ronnie Koenig SG Jr 6' 7" 212 Cranston, RI Everybody should know Ronnie by now. He, of course, will start at SG. This will be his final year at college. 4 Jose Lacour SG Fr 6' 6" 189 Coxsackie, NY Jose gets a red shirt this season. POINT GUARDS 25 James Brown PG Sr 6' 1" 188 Gladewater, TX James will do a tremendous job backing up the point and getting a few minutes backing up the SG spot. 14 William McAnally PG Jr 6' 3" 218 Bristol, TN Will gets the start at the point this year. He is a great passer and will also score a bunch of points for us. 31 Kelvin Rosemond PG Jr 6' 3" 204 Schuylerville, NY Kelvin is not coming along as well as I would have hoped. He can still give us a little at the point guard spot, but just in occasional spurts off the bench. We have a very young front court, but an experienced and very, very good back court this year. We earn the #1 preseason ranking in the nation! Top 25

December 14, 2048 Oklahoma (4-4) at #2 North Carolina (6-1) The Sooners have been up and down since I left them, never being able to field a consistently good team from year to year. Today is one of those bad days for them as we whip them, 105-70. Koenig went for 41 points and 10 boards. We have a real special player here in Ronnie Koenig. McAnally had 19 points and Shorter added 11 off the bench. Our two big men combined for 13 points and 27 rebounds.
Mid Month Recap
Once again I am excited about what this team can accomplish this year. Am I just setting myself up for another disappointment? Top 25

The quicker we can get Lavallee back the better. Top 25

Fordham (10-9) at #1 North Carolina (17-2) We take care of things at home today, 95-82. Koenig led the team with 34 points today. Shorter had a great day with 13 points, 9 assists and 8 rebounds. Schulte had 19 off the bench.
We slip to #2 in the polls. February 10, 2049 #14 Duke (16-7) at #2 North Carolina (18-2) Lavallee is able to play, but only at 75% so we let him come off the bench. We didn’t even need him as we pummel Duke today, 90-60! Koenig led the team with 29 points along with 11 boards. McAnally added 20 with 11 assists. Shorter had another 15 points and Carrell had a dozen.
We move back to the #1 spot in the polls. February 15, 2049 #1 North Carolina (19-2) at Vermont (5-18) Lavallee returns to the starting lineup, but the team played a poor game early and could not recover, losing 90-83. This is a very bad loss. Koenig scored 33 points and McAnally had 28 in the losing effort.
Lavallee re injured himself and will miss about 9 months of action. Mid Month Recap
We are going to have to suck it up and play with Shorter in the starting SF spot. Top 25

Maryland (8-12) at #1 North Carolina (19-3) We have no problems at all today and breeze to a 102-70 home victory. Koenig had 42 points today and Shorter had a nice game with 19. Bradshaw added 15 along with 11 boards off the bench. McAnally had 10 and 10 assists.
February 20, 2049 #1 North Carolina (20-3) at #18 Duke (16-8) We pull off the season sweep of the Devils with a 71-62 victory on their home court! What a great feeling to beat these guys twice. McAnally led us with 26 points today. Schulte had 16 off the bench and Koenig had 11. Tomlin grabbed 17 boards today.
February 22, 2049 #1 North Carolina (21-3) at #6 Wake Forest (18-6) This is a huge ACC showdown and we are able to pull off the huge win on the road, 65-56. Koenig had 31 points to lead us to the big win. McAnally had 9 points and 10 boards today.
February 27, 2049 #1 North Carolina (22-3) at Fordham (12-13) We escape with a 3 point win on the road here, 66-63. Carrell led us in scoring for the first time this year with 17 points. Koenig added 16 and Tomlin had 11 along with 14 rebounds.
February Recap
Iowa, Wake and Toledo are the teams left on our schedule. Iowa is the only road game, but I think 2 of 3 would win us the top spot. We are looking to go 3-0 though. Top 25

#1 North Carolina (23-3) at #19 Iowa (19-10) We take care of Iowa today, 77-64 and now just have 2 home games left. Koenig scored 28 to lead us today. Shorter and Schulte added 10 each and McAnally had 8 along with 10 boards.
March 6, 2049 #10 Wake Forest (20-7) at #1 North Carolina (24-3) We destroy Wake at home today, 98-67 and that should clinch us the top spot in the ACC! Koenig went off for 35 points today. McAnally hadded 13 while Bradshaw and Shorter had 10 each.
March 10, 2049 Toledo (13-15) at #1 North Carolina (25-3) We wrap up the regular season with a 92-85 victory and an ACC Regular Season Title! Koenig dominated, scoring 37 points and grabbing 10 boards. MCAnally had 14 with 11 assists.
Final Standings
March 12, 2049 (1) #1 North Carolina (26-3) vs. (8) Fordham (15-15) Shorter is only at 75% for this game. It doesn’t really matter as we roll, 96-70 and are in the semi finals. Koneig had another 37 points today. Shorter had 15 and McAnally had 12 with 8 assists.
March 13, 2049 (1) #1 North Carolina (27-3) vs. (4) #23 Iowa (20-11) We advance to the finals for the second straight year with a 88-85 win today. Koenig had 35 points and McAnally had 20.
March 14, 2049 (1) #1 North Carolina (28-3) vs. (2) #20 Duke I win my first ever ACC Tournament with a 70-64 victory and more importantly, go 3-0 against Duke this year! Life is great! The final score was 70-64. Schulte came off the bench to lead us to a victory with 17 points. Tomlin had 20 boards.

Post Season
We are awarded the #1 Seed in the South Region and are heavily favored to advance to the Final Four. March 18, 2049 (1) #1 North Carolina (29-3) vs. (16) Elon (18-13) Koenig and shorter are playing just less than 100% today due to very minor injuries. It should not effect them at all and they should be fully healthy for the second round game. We cruise to an easy 89-54 victory today. Schulte was our leading scorer, off the bench with 18. Bradshaw had 14 and McAnally had 13. Shorter and Koenig hardly played today as they both re agrrevated their injuries. L Why does this always happen.
March 20, 2049 (1) #1 North Carolina (30-3) vs. (8) La Salle (20-11) Shorter will not start, Schulte will get the chance. Koenig will start, but I will try to limit his time if possible. If we can get past this game, they will have almost a full week to get better. It was much closer than I hoped for but we pull off the win and advance to the Sweet 16! The final was 86-75. Schulte led the team with 20 points in his first start. McAnally had 17 with 12 assists.
March 26, 2049 (1) #1 North Carolina (31-3) vs. (5) #21 Arkansas (23-9) Shorter is fully healthy and returns to the starting lineup. Koenig is at 97% and will start of course. We absolutely dominate this game, like we are on a mission and nothing is stopping us. We win 109-53 and now are just 1 game from the Final 4! Koenig comes through in a big way with 38 points! Schulkte had 24 off the bench. Tomlin had 14 with 16 boards.
March 28, 2049 (1) #1 North Carolina (32-3) vs. (7) Georgia State (22-11) Well, here we are once again, on the doorstep of the Final Four. We are heavily favored and everybody (well, not Lavallee) is at 100% health. There is no excuse for losing this game… We start off playing terrible ball and fall behind by 9 points at halftime. No inspirational speeches, not yelling, just X’s and O’s in the lock room at halftime. We come out in the second half and Georgia State holds us at bay, still leading by 9 with about 12 minutes left. The we start to trap and press and start chipping away at the lead. We tie it up with about 7 minutes left and Georgia State looks stunned. From then on it is all UNC and we take this one 72-61. We are going to the Final Four!

Final Four:
#1 North Carolina vs. #1 Kentucky #1 Wisconsin vs. #3 Wake Forest April 3, 2049 Well, we made it here, but the job is not done yet. All 4 teams in the Finals are great, great teams and it is going to take 80 minutes of perfect basketball to win this thing. (1) #2 Kentucky (30-4) vs. (1) #1 North Carolina (33-3) 1 vs. 2, everyone is billing this game as the real national championship game, but we all know that means nothing. We only trailed by 4 in this game, and quickly tied it up in the second half. The lead kept changing hands for th enext 10 minutes but as we entered the stretch, Kentucky was just a bit deeper and had a bit fresher legs. They out lasted us 90-80.
Kentucky goes on to win the NCAA Title over Wake Forest. Florida wins the NIT Title. AWARDS Ronnie Koenig was showered with awards this year, here is his trophy case: ACC 1st team ACC Player of the Year National 1st team All-American National Player of the Year! A few Off Season Notes:
Our prestige skyrockets up to 95, one of the top teams in the country now. Our recruiting class was ranked #2 in the nation. Wisconsin had the #1 class. The AD is delighted with me and will be upgrading our training facilities. They will take effect next season. Our coaching assistant leaves for a head coaching job. So we steal Duke’s assistant coach! 54 year old Wilfred Kramer. He is rated 82 in offense and 78 in defense!

Off Season Procedures Continued
We are invited to the Great Alaskan Shootout as a #1 seed and we accept. We also have 10 other games to schedule and here is who we got: UCLA Villanova Xavier Syracuse Kentucky Missouri Buffalo Rhode Island Connecticut Virginia We really put together a top notch schedule this year. Recruiting begins and we have 3 scholarships to offer. We get 1 early recruit. PG Byron Ledezma, from Buffalo, NY, has committed to UNC. Byron is a 4 star recruit and #35 overall. He plays a bit more like a SG, but can handle the point.
We have a couple players who have decided to leave school early: PG Todd Ferrell and PF Kevin Tomlin will be leaving this season. Todd is a freshman and was assigned a red shirt. Guess that pissed him off. So, he will come to school, never play a game and go to the draft.

2049-2050 Roster
CENTERS 34 Guy Bradshaw C So 7' 0" 249 Eureka Springs, AR Guy is a terrific looking player and will be the first man off the bench for us. He will backup both the Center and PF positions. 53 Myles Carrell C So 6'11" 222 Visalia, CA Myles gets the start at Center again this season. His offensive game is really starting to come around, and he is a great defender. He should do a decent job on the boards. POWER fORWARDS 5 Kevin Tomlin PF Jr 6' 8" 261 Jacksonville, FL Kevin will be leaving after this season, but gets the start at PF this year. He is an incredible defender and will clean up the boards for us. He will also be able to do a little scoring down in the paint. 10 Gerald Hanley PF Jr 6' 9" 235 Bayfield, WI Gerald is our only walk on this year and he actually has a great offensive game in the paint. He won’t see much time but could be very useful in emergency situations. 11 Randolph Vetter PF Fr 6' 9" 213 Colchester, CT Randy is a great offensive player, but his other skills need a bit more development before he becomes a regular contributor. SMALL FORWARDS 41 Ellis Schulte SF So 6' 6" 225 Washington, DC Ellis plays a bit like a PF, but can also step out and hit the three pointer. He will get some good time off the bench at both SF and PF. 54 Marvin Trudeau SF So 6' 6" 227 Winchester, KY Marvin is a very good scorer down in the paint and a good rebounded. His defense is good on the perimeter and he has pretty good point guard skills, so we will give him backup time there.. 55 Jed Washington SF Fr 6' 8" 227 Wendell, NC Washington gets a red shirt this season. SHOOTING GUARDS 30 Kieth Shorter SG Sr 6' 5" 217 Newberry, SC Kieth is an increbile scoring machine. He might lead us in scoring most games this year. His defense is average, but he gets the start at SF due to his scoring abilities. 4 Jose Lacour SG Fr 6' 6" 193 Coxsackie, NY Jose is another incredible scorer, but his defense is very weak, which means he will see spot time off the bench. POINT GUARDS 14 William McAnally PG Sr 6' 3" 219 Bristol, TN Will gets the start at the SG spot this year. He should have a terrific senior season for us. He is a great scoring threat to go along with good point guard skills. 31 Kelvin Rosemond PG Sr 6' 3" 207 Schuylerville, NY Kelvin gets the start at the point this year. He is a great ball passer, and has enough of a shot to keep the defense honest. 22 Kerry Mitchell PG Fr 6' 3" 186 Newport, RI Kerry gets a red shirt. 25 Tod Ferrell PG Fr 6' 0" 178 Troy, MT Tod gets a red shirt and will leave after this season.

November 14, 2049
Virginia (0-0) at #1 North Carolina (0-0) It is a good feeling coming off a Final Four Appearance and holding the Preseason #1 ranking. The atmosphere at the Dean Dome was awesome today as we start our campaign towards another Final Four. We blow out neighboring Virginia 83-49. McAnally led the team in scoring with 19 points. Rosemmond had 13 along with 6 assists and 6 rebounds. Shorter scored 11 and Tomlin had 14 rebounds.
November 20, 2049 Connecticut (0-0) at #1 North Carolina (1-0) Not much problem taking the win today. The final score was 87-66. We have beaten two good, but not ranked opponents in easy fashion so far. Shorter led us in scoring with 21 points today. McAnally added 14 and Rosemond had 11. Tomlin had a big day on the boards, grabbing 19.
November 24, 2049 #1 North Carolina (2-0) vs. Vermont (0-0) We head up to Alaska for the Annual Shootout. We are the 1 seed and Vermont the 8. They were able to keep it pretty close, but we come away with a 98-87 victory. All 5 of our starters scored in double figures as well as 2 more players off the bench. McAnally and Schulte led us with 16 points each. Tomlin scored 15 along with 18 rebounds. That is how our team will shape up this year I think. Nobody pouring in 30 every night, but 3-4 guys scoring 10 or more.
November 26, 2049 #1 North Carolina (3-0) vs. Hawaii (1-1) Hawaii is the 4 seed this year and they are able to scrape out a 86-83 victory over us. We just cannot play well in these tournaments. Again we had 6 players score in double figures though, led by Rosemond with 18 today. McAnally had 14 along with 14 boards and 9 assists.
November 27, 2049 #1 North Carolina (3-1) vs. #22 Arizona (2-1) Arizona is the 3 seed and we will play them for the 3rd place position in this tournament. We come out of Alaska with 2 wins against one loss after dismantling the Wildcats, 96-67. Shorter had a great day, scoring 27 for us. Rosemond added 19 and McAnally had 13. Lacour came off the bench and scored 17 in just 8 minutes of play!
We slip to #2 in the polls. November 30, 2049 Rhode Island (1-2) at #2 North Carolina (4-1) We get back home and more than double up the Rams, 100-48. McAnally and Rosemond led the team with 24 points each today. McAnally also had 11 boards. Shorter added 14 and Tomlin had 10 rebounds.
November Recap C Austin Lay, from Paris, IL, has committed to UNC. Austin is a 4 star recruit and #44 overall. He lookis to me like he will be a 4 year workhorse for us. He will get lots of solid backup time and maybe even start his senior year.

#2 North Carolina (5-1) at Buffalo (1-2) Our first road trip of the year results in a 78-60 victory. McAnally, and Lacour led the team with 13 points each. Schulte had 12 and Shorter added 11. Tomlin had 12 boards for us.
We regain the #1 ranking. December 10, 2049 #1 North Carolina (6-1) at Missouri (2-2) We head out to the Midwest and pick up a very solid 20 point road victory, 84-64. McAnally led us in scoring with 20 points. Rosemond had 13 and Carrell and Schulte picked up 12 points each. Tomlin had 12 rebounds.
December 15, 2049 #23 Kentucky (6-4) at #1 North Carolina (7-1) This rematch of last year’s Final Four game goes the way we wish it did last season. We take the 70-59 victory and send Kentucky to just 6-5 on the year. Shorter led us with 18 points today. Rosemond added 13 and Tomlin had 11 rebounds.

#1 North Carolina (8-1) at #4 Syracuse (8-1) The Orangemen have continually come into our house and beat us, so we set up a home and away series starting on the road. We fared much better on the road against them, coming out of there with a 87-80 victory. Rosemond led us with 22 points while McAnally had 20. Lacour added 18 off the bench and Tomlin grabbed 10 boards.
December 25, 2039 Xavier (3-2) at #1 North Carolina (9-1) We come back home and make quick work of Xavier with a 78-52 victory. McAnally scored 18 points to lead the team. Shorter had 14 points and Tomlin had a double double with 12 points and 10 boards. Carrell also had 10 boards to go along with his 9 points.
December 31, 2049 Villanova (6-4) at #1 North Carolina (10-1) Our defense smothers them today and we cruise to a 82-42 win to wrap up the 2049 calendar year. Rosemond led us with 18 points. McAnally had 17 and Carrell had 15 rebounds.
December Recap SG Arron Simmon, from Bellmore, NY, has committed to UNC. Arron is a 4 star recruit and #38 overall. His strengths are a nice jump shot, good defense and some nice passing ability. He may play SG or even the point for us.
