Between 2nd and 3rd down, Teel missed his window to move the ball.

Seriously sorry to see either team lose the MSU/Wisconsin game, if either team had a quality defense I'd pick them as title contenders.

I think the WVU loss was probably very bad for the mindset of the Rutgers players.

If Rutgers didn't have timeouts left, then the smart play was to let Maryland have a TD. No chance they win if the clock moves. Very small chance with a TD and onside kick, but it's better than watching Maryland kneel it away.

About 75% of me believes they gave up the TD intentionally.

I would find it to be completely fair if Rutgers drops out of the Top 25 entirely. They haven't beaten anyone.

FSU driving with a chance to maybe start putting Alabama away but threw an INT inside the 10. Still 7-0 'Noles starting to get a little late in the 3rd qtr.

Arkansas trying to recover from a pretty heart-breaking 2 game losing streak by hosting North Texas tonight. 14-0 5 minutes in. Let the healing begin. Oh and Casey Dick has a 61 yd TD pass.

Frankly, all of this excitement over Rutgers being 'good' is too much for me. I liked it better when Rutgers was a quasi-good academic school and no one ever expected them to win ever. All of this Rutgers supposed to win stuff is just throwing me off to the nth degree. That professor who raised hell the other day about RU selling its soul to the devil of intercollegiate sports was right. I don't like this trend and to me, it's a battle I doubt they can really win.

And that's not because of the win today, I've been thinking about it for a while now. I just don't like where it goes. Because if Schiano does leave, they're back to square 1.

Don't get me wrong Spiller is dynamic and has game breaking ability on every play, but the coaches have simply refused to force feed #1. I will look it up shortly but I will bet he averaged 5+ypc but did not get more than 12 carries.

Oh well another typical Clemson GT game of weirdness and NCAA 07 like momentum swings. And while Tenuda deserves applause for for a good gameplan and blitzing often, I can't help but wonder if the offensice play callers even watched the game....

Superior talent? Were we watching the same game? Have we watched the same series for the last 20 years?

Clemson has an excellent defensive front and two playmakers at running back, however the offensive line is not good and the quarterback is below average.

Tech has a better offensive line and a running back corps that is just a notch below Clemson's. Tech's QB is not an all star either. Both teams have average wide receivers--both dropped balls today.

The front seven on defense is every bit as good as Clemson's. Secondaries are probably a wash.

In a pretty evenly matched game, it comes down to special teams and turnovers. Tech had a flawless special teams game. Clemson did not.

Tech ouplayed Clemson, no doubt.
But Talent wise?
Tech wins OL
QB is a wash (hard to say how average harper is when he is laying on his back 13 times)
Rb Advantage Clemson GT is good but clearly a step behind
WR advantage Clemson
DL I think Clemson is a notch or two above
LB same
DBs a wash or maybe slight advantage to GT

You have 2 of the top 10 NATIOANL NCAA 100 meter sprinters on Clemson.
I think this game could have been lopsided with a coach in orange...

Sorry I am not a TB hater, actually I am a huge supporter, but this wwas pathetic.

I think TB's playcalling was suspect, particularly on first down. But, you're not exactly dealing with an offensive juggernaut on the other side of the ball.

I think you give your D-Line too much credit vs. GT's. Our ends are much superior. Your tackles may be better. The reason why our safety and LB blitzes are so successful is because the ends demand attention. Spiller was having to pick up #93 all afternoon. He and #90 are both excellent ends.

I don't think the talent gap is as big as you think (if there is one at all), and the tightness of the series over the last 20 years is testament to that.

Gotta disagree with you Troy... I think you gave a pretty even-handed analysis, but after seeing both, Tulsa has the better offense in my humble opinion. Smith rates ahead of Hawkins in nearly every regard, if you ask me.

Colorado's line did a much better job than Tulsa's did, and that ended up being big towards the end. OU was so mistake-prone that their defense was on the field all day, and they couldn't rise to that.

Don't get me wrong; I offer my kudos to Colorado. In fact, when it was 24-17, I told my wife, "OU has been outplayed today, and they'll be lucky to win." I just think it was the failings in so many areas of play that led to the defense falling apart at the end.

No way your ends are "much superior" Ours are Sophs (Merling a RS and Sapp a true) and both will be in the NFL in 1 more year, likely both 1st rounders...at least according to Kiper.

The reason GT had so much pressure is they rush 5 or 6 EVERY play, they neever use a 4 man front, tenuda never has.

Clemson on the other hand uses mostly 3 man fronts while dropping a DE into the flats for coverage

Considering what you already pointed out (the threat that Spiller represents), I'd say Davis getting more carries than Spiller in 4 of 5 games so far, and the same number in the win over Furman is a pretty reasonable mix. Throw in that Spiller is (apparently) a better receiver (or at least more trusted) and that it's probably a little soon to decide that Spiller won't return to this form of last year, and that the rotation does tend to keep both backs fresh, I'm not sure I'd count this as a big problem.

Also, and I wasn't really conscious that this was as dominant as it was, but Clemson only ran 6 offensive plays (all passes) in the 4th quarter thanks in part due to the fumbled punt. And after the opening drive, they went back to Spiller for a 3-and-out before coming back to Davis for some success again but then they got pass happy right before the end of the third quarter & that was the end of the day for both backs.

Huge play by the Florida State defense in a 7-0 game - sack and a fumble recovered inside the ten. This may put Alabama away, especially since JP Wilson is limping off the field.

Touchdown Florida State on first down. 13-0 pending the extra point, which may be more than enough the way the defense has been playing.

Barring something totally unforeseen, I bet the Nick Saban call-in show will be some fun listening on the next episode.

edit to add: D.J. Hall makes huge catch on the backline on the end zone to cut the lead to 14-7. That's half the "unforeseen" I guess.

Oy. Not what I wanted to see after getting back from the game.

I didn't think Henne looked all that great -- the defense just gave him better field position. But on the other hand, he might have still been hurt. I actually missed Henne's opening drive, too, since I forgot the game started at 11, not 12 (you'd think I'd have figured out that central time zone thing after 4 years).

Wow... Alabama WR Keith Brown makes a great catch for a touchdown to pull within 7 against FSU, and is immediately hit and knocked out for about a minute. Score stands, though, and Alabama is within seven with 1:06 to play.
