The BBC version is the best comedy i've seen, but I agree with Barkeep that the US version is still great and still producing top notch episodes over 40 episodes into the series. The BBC show quit at 14 episodes which they felt was as far as they could take it, but it is by far the better of the two. If you haven't seen the BBC one I suggest you do so.

Its about, oh, 3 times funnier than the BBC version. I have seen both. And during the first season, the BBC version had the clear lead, but during the 2nd season the American version overtook it, and now in the 3rd has lapped it. At the very least, Michael Scott is far better a character than David Brent. At least with Michael you have some reason to think why he could have been promoted to manager of a branch.

The BBC version (in my opinion) actually had a far more believable work environment. Like i said, i really enjoy the US version, but it feels far more sitcom-ey to me. Even saying that, it's probably the best comedy on TV in the US since Seinfeld. I think the big difference in the overall tone of the show was that the BBC version had a darker more depressing realistic feel to things outside of David Brent's silliness. The American version is way, way more focused on being a pure comedy. |

I also think that the BBC version, going for depression, actually hurt the show, IMO. It was funny in its uncomfortableness, but it went TOO far a lot of times. To the point where it wasn't as good as it should have been.
But even there, if it hit the sweet spot, I still enjoy the US version more. Dwight and Michael just make it perfect. And David and Gareth just don't compare, IMO.

Could Michael be more retarded in this episode? Lets make it as unrealistic as possible.

I like Roy's growth. He seems so sincere. I love Ryan swatting the bouquet (sp?) away from Kelly.

Ok, I have to rewind that to see... if so... BRILLIANT!!! I also like Roy's growth. It shows that those who were seen in one light in some episodes have far more than simply that one side.

Dwight was on fire tonight:
Us Shrutes have our own traditions. We get married in our own graves. It makes the funerals romantic. But the weddings are a bleak affair. There are too many people on this Earth. We need a new plague. I did see Wedding Crashers. I went to see Grizzly Men but went into the wrong theater. After an hour I figured it was the wrong theater, but I stayed anyway. That's the thing about bear attacks. They come when you least expect them. |

That was really amusing. It actually sounded like something Stephen Colbert would say . I also liked Dwight saying he took no pleasure in bouncing Michael, when he obviously did.

Oh, I just remembered "Do you take this man, Bob Vance, Vance Refigeration, to be your lawful wedded husband".
And they were wisked away in Vance Refigeration van, LOL!

Yeah I liked the episode overall, but some of that Michael did was just way beyond stupid. Yes, I've seen the series and know that Michael does dumb things... but some of the stuff today was just... blah. I actually changed the channel on this show for the first time. But I quickly chaged it back because I didn't want to miss anything funny done by other people. |

I thought it was one of the better episodes of the season--probably the best since the Christmas episode.
I cracked up when Kevin made the announcement about the missing uncle and then went directly into singing. I didn't realize what Scrantonicity (his band's name) meant until last night, either. |

No way. It was a great episode although they could tone down Michaels stupidity a little.

I love the show, but its gotten to the point with Michael that I could careless what he does/says but only enjoy it for the other characters.
I just feel like they're shoving Michael down our throats. |

One or two shows a season have shown Michael stupidity being over the top (remember when he basically ripped up the warehouse?). I expect it'll go back to normal next week.

Both Michael and David Brent have moments of complete lack of etiquette and street smarts, but this episode was preposterous. There has never been an episode where Michael was completely removed from reality. Hitting the wheelchair down the aisle, breaking into the line of groomsmen, announcing the wedding couple twice, the toast. Stupid.
The episode started out with some funny "Michael-like" bits like him trying to get into the pictures and horrible advice before the wedding, but the over the topness ruined the whole episode for me. I have to agree this was one of the worst I have seen. Just really unfunny and unoriginal writing. The police band stuff was about the only bright spot. |

That's what I originally thought. Then someone on another forum pointed me to this: hxxp://www.etiquettehell.com/content/eh_main/gen/eh_index.shtml A lot are not big deals, but some... it's like Michael Scott. Now, I'm not so certain it was entirely unrealistic. Over the top, yes, but Hell, so are some of these stories.

I've been avoiding the thread until tonight when I'm just catching up on this past week's episode.
Michael's wedding speech was hilarious. Edit: Loved the Altoids at the beginning as well.

I did not know that the actress who plays Karen was Quincy Jones' daughter, nor did I know that she was the actor who plays Jim's real-life girlfriend at one point. It's in this issue of Entertainment Weekly.

So, am I supposed to care who Pam ends up with now that the warehouse guy is Mr. Nice?

I'm curious how this plays out. If Jim still didn't have feelings for Pam, I'd say Pam should go with the warehouse guy. There was something there before, and he seems to realize what an idiot he was before. But since Jim still has feelings for Pam, I don't think he can fully commit to someone else until Jim and Pam try it out. |

So why does this show not start in HD for me? I've got the HD station. Earl was in full HD, but this is letterboxed to standard def. This is really annoying.

Wow. Just when I'm ready to completely abandon the Michael Scott character, they decide to do that to completely redeem himself. I found myself hoping that Jim would show up for Pam, but it was not to be. Still, the character development on this show is great.
Also, if the British version is as good as everyone says it is, you bet that I'm going to start watching that hardcore over the summer. |

I like how Roy is being written. If it was a normal Friends-like show, he would have realized his mistake, make bold gestures and waltzed his way through problems. But here, you can see he loves her, but even when he tries, he doesn't really get Pam like he needs to.

Very solid episode, much better than last week. The British episode of the Office when David Brent is an "expert" speaker at a convention was one of my favorites so I figured this one would be decent. Michael had a good opening and the bat scenes were good especially the last one where Dwight catches it on Merideth's head and says, Your Welcome. I thought this was one of the better episodes of this season right up there with Gay Witch Hunt.
