Ah, the Lions...

Second playoff game in 15 years and their best defensive player is suspended for extreme stupidity.

I know, just watching the Pittsburgh/Cincy game will prove that, I was just taking a jab at all the "safety rules" the NFL has put in place that are sometimes sort of enforced. Particularly those to protect the QB and the WR.

Looks like the NFL took a tough stance against dirty play though as the loss of Suh in that playoff game will be felt by all his teammates and the city of Detroit. Probably not felt by Suh...but he's probably not one of those guys that can turn the dirty switch off.

Unbelievable. How is his case any different than the Detroit center who did the same thing and did not win his appeal? Anyone have info on why the arbitrator went this way?

SUUUUUUUUUUH!!!!!

I would understand if he was suspended. That said, suspending him for a playoff game is pretty harsh. This is only the second in 15 years! Maybe he should be suspended for the next regular season game or something, including the fine.

Playoff game. If it was week 5, he'd be missing a game.

Pretty much like hockey.

Him stomping Romo in the playoff game and getting ejected would be one of the great NFL moments of all time.

Bullshit. He should be out for the playoffs. Which will be one game.

How can anyone root for a P.O.S. like Suh?

I take it back, Suh wins. Cheap shot away you dirty bastard...

On a lighter note, his Wiki page says that he's got an endorsement deal with Dick's Sporting Goods.

I'm interested in who is going to pony up for Suh's services in the off-season and how quickly it turns bad.

Pretty much any NFL team you root for has a number of thugs with violent pasts.

The updated article states the following:

Quote:
Despite his history, the repeat offender provision did not apply to Suh in this instance, as his last fine had been in Week 1 of 2013. According to the player policy manual, Suh was removed from the repeat offender list after the Lions' Week 16 game this season as 32 games (counting a maximum of two preseason games) without a violation leads to removal from the list.

Raiola did have the repeat offender provision associated with his case.

That's really interesting about the repeat offender status. Based on that, the fine, without more, seems appropriate here.

Not that it will really matter, the Lions are still very likely to lose.

So basically you get one suspension-free stomp or step every 32 games. Assuming the playoff game counts, he'll get to stomp again late in the 2016 season. Either the season finale, or earlier if the Lions win their playoff game, or if he makes the playoffs with his new team next year. He should put a countdown clock on his website.

Yeah I saw that on NFL Network-what a horrible rule change-"let's just forget all the other times you broke the rules because its been so long since you broke them" I mean I can understand doing this with a 1st time offender-but how many times has Suh broken them?

We used this, last year, to really good effect. Grabbed a very good OG prospect from the Senior Bowl - great to see us with another SB Opportunity

I'm hoping the Bills can make an RG3,trade. Something like a 3rd, Manuel and a 2016 pick that can elevate into a first if they make the playoffs.

While what he did was no doubt dirty and intentional, I think it's a bit of a stretch to call it a "stomp." It was a step. Two steps. There's a difference.

Yeah, duh. He only deliberately "stepped" on an opponent in an attempt to injure and didn't "stomp". Can't you see that distinction? Jeez, cut the guy a break.

Andrew Siciliano on Twitter: "Rob Gronkowski received all 50 votes for the AP All-Pro team. No other TE received a single vote."

I guess Revis also beat out Sherman (by 1 vote) for most votes for a CB.

I can only assume the Carolina playoff game against Arizona that permanently ruined Jake Delhomme involved some sort of divine favor aimed at the Cardinals.

Yes yes, I hope Jake makes a "guest appearance" for the Panthers in rememberance of that epic fail.

Let's go beloved Cardinals! Looking like at this point Stanton might not be able to play until the Super Bowl if then, so Cards will need a lot of luck and some very good play from the defense, which has been lacking of late.

Also let's go Detroit, so my beloved Cardinals don't have to go back to Seattle next week.

As sort of an outsider to the game, i never get why it would be easier for a young/inexperienced/bad QB to throw on 2nd/3rd down and with few options. Can someone enlighten me why it wouldn´t be easier to spread out the defense and have your QB throw into less crowded spaces and have a better chance of your WR making a play for the QB ?

Looked to work fine for Lindley this last drive.

Guess this is how the Cards will win games now-take advantage of bad plays by the other team, get some good luck, have a good defensive play once in a while.
