Ahh, gotcha. I tried a joint Ga Tech/Panthers dynasty long, long ago in NCAA/Madden without any success, but this is starting me down the path of wanting to try it again with NCAA/NBA 2k8. Great read, keep it up!

Since Ironhead mentioned the quickness and speed of rookies seems low, I'm tracking this and seeing the same thing. For future reference, here is the speed and quickness of my favorite rookie PG, Juan Carlos Ortiz - Speed 78, Quickness 92. I'm going to watch to see if it goes up as the year progresses. However, all of the athletic guards in the rookie class seem to be getting short changed on speed, quickness, or both. If it doesn't go up, I'm going to make some hand adjustments for the top picks who were rated athletic by my scouts.

Today we host the Bulls who are 13-11. They have a tremendous defense and a decent offense. We are outmatched, but anything can happen if Iggy and Young can get it going.

Like I said, I like our chances if Young or Iggy can get it going. Young started out with 2 3's and then a monstrous dunk. He was quickly in the zone and had 21 points in the 1st quarter! We are up 34-17 at the end of 1.

Young eventually tires, but they started doubling him and he made some great passes to set up open jumpers for everyone. Even Devin Harris was knocking htem down. Young ends the half with 24 points, 4 boards, and 5 assists! He is 8 of 12 from the field so far. We are up 51-29 as the entire team is playing tremendous defense.

We are shooting 50% as a team. They are shooting 22%!

Young is ice cold in the 3rd quarter and they have pulled within 11 before Iggy hits a big 2 to end their long run.

A very rough 3rd quarter, but we are still up 63-51. Young didn't score at all in the 3rd.

Our cold offense lets them get closer and closer. With 1:16 to go, Hinrich ties it at 82 with a nice 3 pointer.

Foye with a drive that draws a foul. He hits both FT's. Gordon responds with a 3 to give Chicago their first lead this game. Boone with an offensive rebound and the putback to give us the lead again! Hinrich misses a 3 and Dalembert gets the board. They immediately foul him. He hits both FT's and we are up 88-85 with 24 seconds left. Gordon misses a 3 and Dalembert gets the board and is fouled! He misses the 1st FT. He makes the 2nd! 8 seconds left and we are up by 4.

We end up winning 89-87. Much closer than I expected after the great first half, but I'll take it.

Young is the player of the game. He finished with 28 points, 6 boards, and 5 assists. He shot 10 of 19, 2 of 8, and 6 of 7.

Iggy finished with 21 points, 3 boards, and 3 assists. He shot 9 of 16. Devin Harris had his best game and finishes with 14 points, 5 boards, and 9 assists. He shot 5 of 12. Boone finished with 8 points and 8 boards. He shot 4 of 12. Dalembert had 5 points and 12 boards. In just 19 minutes, Varejao had 7 points and 10 boards as well as a block.

Hinrich led the Bulls back with 33 points, 9 assists, and 5 boards. Gordon had 25 points and 6 boards. Wallace had 6 points and 15 boards. Deng finished with 6 points, 4 boards, and 4 assists.

We play the 8-15 Pacers at home. An easy win as we beat them 116-83. Foye suffered a strained MCL and will be less than 100% for the next 2 weeks. Iggy led the way with 33 points, 7 boards, 4 assists, 2 steals, and 2 blocks. He shot 13 of 23, 1 of 4, and 6 of 6. Foye had 14 points and 5 assists. Harris had 11 points, 7 assists, and 4 boards. He shot 4 of 6. Dalembert had 10 points and 12 boards. Carney and Korver each had 10 points. Young finished with 9 points, 4 boards, and 2 assists. Boone had 9 points and 6 boards.

Jermaine O'Neal led them with 20 points and 5 boards.

Foye looks bad enough that I'm going to rest him until he is healed. Bilic might get some PT now.

Dec 23, 2008 -

We play the Magic at home. They are 14-14. They win a close game 92-89. Rashard Lewis had 23 points and 6 boards. Dwight Howard was out injured but they got 11 points and 10 boards from Chris Mihm. Redick had 19 points.

For us, Iggy had 20 points, 5 boards, and 5 assists. He shot 5 of 15. Korver had 12 points and 3 boards. Young had 11 points as did Boone. Harris finished with 10 points and 2 assists. Dalembert had 8 points and 12 boards.

That loss drops us to 12-13.

Our scout has finished with another player (I'm doing 2 visits per player for now):

Eddie Bailey is a 6'10 266 pound PF who is 22 years old and is at Iowa State. He is rated B+ overall and A in potential. He has poor athleticism and isn't refined offensively, but he is a solid defender.

Following up on the athleticism issue with guards. I just looked at my old scouting reports and Christian Carpenter had an A for athleticism. Now, he has a 79 for speed (PG average is 89) and a 83 for quickness (avg is 91.) Also from my old reports I think Ortiz was supposed to have great athleticism. If these attributes don't progress, I'm definitely going to adjust for the PG's and SG's that were drafted in the 1st round.

For those that asked about the cap situation:

We are currently 1 million under the cap. Next year we are 2.8 million under the cap. All of my players are under contract for next year, but several of them have team options - Foye, Carney, and Bilic.

Today we face off at the Kings. The last time I faced them we won 97-71 but that was at home. Now we face them at their place, but I still expect a win. Korver is getting upset that he isn't starting and is starting to talk about demanding a trade. I may end up having to do so.

Ok, maybe Devin Harris IS the answer at PG. He is good on the 3's from the corners and he has kept us in it as Young and Iggy have been cold. Devin has 11 on 3 3's and a 2 and we are only down 23-21 at the end of 1.

A rough 2nd quarter has us down 45-36 at the end of the half. Our offense is very cold and we don't have Foye to give us that big boost off the bench.

Of course, we are doing this with almost nothing from our 2 biggest stars, so that is encouraging. Young has 7 points, Iggy has 4, and Devin Harris has 15 points and 2 assists at the half.

An excellent start to the 3rd quarter as everyone is contributing now. We are only down 55-52 5 minutes into the 3rd.

Down 72-67. Devin Harris is having an excellent scoring game and has 25. However, Bibby has 31 as he has been on fire all game long.

A very good 4th quarter as we clamp down defensively and roll offensively. 95-85 win. A solid road win made even better by the fact that we won despite a relatively off night from both of our top 2 scorers.

Devin Harris was the player of the game. He finished with 27 points, 6 assists, 2 steals, 1 board, and 1 block. He shot 9 of 17, 5 of 12, and 4 of 4.

Young had 19 points, 4 assists, 3 boards, and 1 steal. He shot 7 of 17, 0 of 3, and 5 of 8 from the line.

Iggy finished with 14 points, 5 boards, and 7 assists. He shot 6 of 18, 1 of 5, and 1 of 2.

Dalembert had 10 points and 16 boards. He shot 4 of 5 and 2 of 2 from the line.

Bone finished with 6 points, 8 boards, 2 assists. He shot 2 of 6. Varejao had 6 points, 13 boards, 3 assists, and a steal in 21 minutes off the bench. Korver was 1 of 6 and had 3 points in 12 minutes.

Bibby led them with 35 points and 10 assists. Garcia had 12 points and 2 assists.

Based on Ironhead's findings in the general forum thread, I'm editing all of the rookie PG, SG, and SF's (that one I just looked at quickly on my own) that were taken in the 1st round by 10 points in speed and quckness. The PF's and C's look fine in those attributes and Boone is actually above average in both areas.

Edit: That didn't take too long, but I look forward to seeing if College Hoops 2k classes are better about this once I get that game. In any case, I changed my mind - I edited as follows since I didn't feel like trying to match up all scouting reports:

Picks 1-10 (SG, SF, PG only) plus 10 in quickness and speed.
Picks 11-20 plus 7 in speed and quickness
Pick 20-25 Plus 5 in speed and quickness
Picks 26-30 Plus 3 in speed and quickness.

We lose to the Nuggets 106-88. They ar enow 14-15 while we are 13-14. Even worse, Iggy hurts his calf. He'll be 70% for about 2 weeks.

Carmelo had 36 points. AI had 27 points and 10 assists. Stackhouse had 15 points.

Iggy led us with 19 points, 5 assists, and 2 steals. He shot 7 of 18. Korver had 13 points in 22 minutes. Devin Harris had 10 points, 5 boards, and 6 assists. Young had 9 points and 5 boards, he shot 4 of 8. Boone finished with 4 points and 7 boards before he fouled out. He played 25 minutes.

With Iggy hurt for these next 2 weeks, he will only play about 20 minutes per game. Green and Korver will get his additional minutes (with Korver playing SF and Young playing some SG.)

Dec 29 -

We travel to play the 16-15 Jazz. They blow us out 121-83. Ortiz had 14 points in 14 minutes off the bench. Deron Williams had 17 points and 5 assists. Monta Ellis led them with 20 points, 7 boards, 4 assists, and 3 steals.

Green led us with 18 points in 25 minutes. I didn't plan on him playing that much but foul trouble limited Devin Harris to 12 minutes. Young had 15 points, 6 boards, and 5 steals. He shot 4 of 10. Carney had 12, Boone had 11, and Korver had 10 in 27 minutes. He shot 4 of 11. Iggy had 3 points and 2 assists in 20 minutes and was 1 of 9. He is only about 70% right now and it shows. If he continues to struggle like that, I might rest him after the next game.

Next up is a road game against the Lakers on the 30th. I might get a chance to play this later tonight.

What are his stats so far? I like Harris a lot. I think he could be a good point guard. Perheps not an "All-Star", but I think he's very capable and has the qualities that you want.

I don't recall exact numbers off the top of my head and am watching football now, but I think he is averaging about 10 ppg and 5 apg. He is rated 84 overall and that is a bit better than Miller was. Also, his potential is a B if I recall correctly so he might improve a bit more. Iggy really set him up well for the 3's in that game and when he is in the corner he is very good. He is bad at 3's from anywhere else though, or at least not very reliable. Speed and Quickness are great and his defense is very good.

Edit: With his ratings being so good for defense, I'm confused why he keeps fouling out some simmed games, although Deron Williams is a tough player to guard and most of the times it has been against elite PG's.

I'll then import the 3rd season of draft classes into NBA 2k8 as I start my 3rd year of this franchise.

Do you plan on playing the college game when you hit that point, along side this dynasty?

Yes. In fact, I won't get to play too much more of this dynasty before College Hoops comes out because I have my Oral Child and Adolescent Psychiatry boards in 2 weeks. I'll get in a few games next weeked, but will also study some. I won't get any games in the following weekend because I'll be traveling. When I get back, I'm taking a week off work and College Hoops will be released

I plan on simming/recruiting during the first few years of my closed legacy career in College Hoops and that will allow me to generate some draft classes that will hopefully fix the problems with the game generated classes.

I don't recall the exact specifics, but here is a ball park until I get a chance to look this weekend (or maybe Thursday if the wife has her friend over.)

All Settings the same for both sides:

Inside shooting: 45
Medium Shooting: 48 or 49 (I can't recall)
3 pt shooting: 49
Dunk in Traffic: 25
All other shooting at default.

Under attributes:

Blocking down to 45
Steals I might have turned up to 55?
Ball Handling down to 35 or 40 (now big men will fumble it more if they try to do fancy moves unless they actually have high handle ability and lesser guards won't be able to do so many isomotion moves.)
I forget if I adjusted anything else in that section

I turned steal success up to 70 for both sides.

I also bumped collision detection up to 60 and pick success up to 60 IIRC. I think that is it.

Oh yeah, Game speed down to 40 for 12 minute quarters. Also, I have Charging fouls at 100, all other fouls at 80 or 85.

Look forward to a college hoops/NBA dyansty. Do you plan on the "closed" mode, or jumping in with USC or whatever your school of preference is? Would enjoy seeing you rebuild a crappy, low-tier conference school outside of a hotbed.

I wonder if 2k will release a patch (or if even know). Hopefully the imported classes will work. It sucks that the guards aren't the fastest positions.

With College Hoops, I always do a closed dynasty. I'll probably be starting with a small Louisiana school and will try to work my way up to USC - that is the ultimate goal. 2ksports has already said they are working on a patch for NBA 2k8, but hasn't said all of the issues that will be fixed - I'm not sure that problems with game generated rookies are on their radar, but they have several developers over at OS that view their forums. Ironhead and I have both made posts over there about this issue, so it should be on their radar for the future.

Today we travel to play the Lakers which will be a big challenge without a healthy Iggy. The Lakers are 11-18 but are much more talented than us without Iggy at 100%. At most, he will play 15-20 minutes tonight I suspect.

Kobe was great in the 1st quarter while Devin and Young kept us scoring. We are up 22-19 at the end of 1.

We've held Kobe to 12 in the half! We are up 48-44 thanks to 15 by Devin Harris in the half. He is torching their young PG's. He also has 4 assists.

We are shooting 50% while holding them to 40%.

Kobe with an explosive 3rd quarter and we are now down 73-64 at the end of 3.

Foye led the way with 27 points, 8 boards, and 8 assists. He shot 9 of 13, 3 of 5, and 6 of 6. Young had 13 points and 7 boards. Varejao had 11 points and 9 boards. Iggy had 7 points. Despite underperforming, the Bulls are one of the most talented teams in the league. This will be a challenge on the road. The Bulls have so many weapons and are scoring very well in the 1st. 32-21, they lead at the end of 1.

The Bulls are doing every thing right. They are up 62-36 at the half. Hinrich has 22, Gordon and Deng each have 12. I'm going to go ahead and sim the 2nd half if I can't cut the lead early in the 3rd quarter.

They go on a 10-0 run to start the 3rd and I sim to the end. We lose 123-85.

Foye led us with 20 points and 7 assists. He shot 9 of 17.

Boone had 14 points, 4 boards, 2 assists, and a block. He shot 3 of 11. Devin Harris had 12 points and 5 assists. Korver had 11 points. Young finished with 7 points and 3 boards. He shot 3 of 12. Iggy failed to score in 18 minutes.

Gordon had 31 points and 9 assists. Hinrich had 27 points and 10 assists. Deng had 26 points and 9 boards. Nocioni had 15 points off the bench.

Things looking tough after a promising start. Have you given any thought to shaking things up through a trade? I know you said that you were starting to feel that Harris might be your answer at PG.

The game starts out with terrific defense by both sides. We are contesting every shot as are they. We are up 15-12 at the end of 1.

Down 37-36 at the half as Johnson caught on fire for the Hawks. He leads them with 13 points. Young leads our team with 9.

We are both shooting 37% as a team.

At the end of 3, they are up 61-56.

It all falls apart in the last 5 minutes as our shooters all go cold and Acie Law and Johnson catch on fire. They win 86-76

Joe Johnson wins player of the game. He scored 28 points. He also had 4 assists, 2 rebounds, and 2 steas. He shot 8 of 24, but 4 of 4 down the stretch. He shot 3 of 7 from the arc and 9 of 11 from the line.

Law finished with 24 points and 4 assists on 11 of 21 shooting.

Young led our team with 21 points, 5 boards, 2 assists, 2 blocks, and a steal. He shot 8 of 18, 1 of 5, and 4 of 6.

Iggy had 10 points, 6 assists, and 4 boards. He shot 5 of 15.

Boone and Foye each had 10 points. Devin Harris had 9 points and 8 assists.

Funny you should mention that. I have been thinking about it. I'm trying to come up with a realistic trade that would help the team. I'd love to get a very good young C to go alongside Boone. Dalembert is average overall and is good defensively, but he is so limited offensively. If I could get a good big man to go along with Boone, I think we would be very hard to stop as I feel like we would have 5 legitimate scoring options on the floor when our starters play. Since Korver is getting pissed off, I'd like to include him if I do make any trades.

Not a blockbuster, but I decide to pull the trigger on a trade. Steven Hunter is unhappy in Philly due to lack of PT. Matt Bonner is unhappy with the Spurs due to lack of PT. Bonner has range on his jump shot which I like and will add an offensive option to the bench even if he might not get a lot of PT unless we need the offensive boost.

I also want to move Korver but haven't found a good deal yet.

We host the Hawks and they win 85-78. We drop to 14-22 while they improve to 21-15. Iggy led us with 18 points and 9 assists. He shot 7 of 15. Devin Harris had 12 points and 6 assists. Young had 10 points and 6 boards. Bonner had 6 points in 8 minutes in his first game for us.

Johnson led them with 27 points and 5 assists. Horford had 13 points and Josh Smith had 12. Artest had 11 points and 10 boards for them.

Hmmm, Adam Morrison is even worse than Korver but he is a very good shooter who is almost as good as Korver and he has potential to improve. He is unhappy with the Lakers due to the lack of PT, but I'd give him about the same time as I gave Korver. Maybe it would be enough to keep him happy... The Lakers are unwilling to do that straight up... I have to throw in this year's 2nd round pick as well as next year's 2nd round pick to get them to do it. Korver is the better player, but they knew he was very unhappy and was demanding a trade, so they hijacked me.

We host the 21-16 Sonics. They win a close game 102-97. That loss drops us to 14-23.

Young led the way for us with 27 points. He shot 9 of 12, 2 of 4, and 7 of 8.

Boone had 16 points and 7 boards. Green had 13 points off the bench in just 10 minutes. Iggy had 11 points, 9 boards, and 9 assists. He shot 5 of 14. Devin Harris had 8 points and 6 assists. Foye had 6 points and 2 assists in 20 minuts. Morrison had 4 points on 2 of 5 shooting in 12 minutes. Bonner had 4 points and 5 boards in 19 minutes. He played a lot because Boone only played 20 minutes due to foul trouble.

Durant led the Sonics with 21 points, 7 boards, and 7 assists. Ridnour had 17 and Wilcox had 14 for them.

Next up is a home game at the Knicks on the 18th.

Today we host the Knicks. They are 25-14 and have a talented offense led by Curry, Marbury, and Randolph.

Everything went wrong in the 1st, our shots weren't falling and they were scoring easily. Down 28-11 at the end of 1. Our bench got 6 of those points. As Morrison hit his first 2 shots, both just inside the arc.

Our bench played very well for the first 6 minutes of the 2nd quarter and mostly against their bench cut the lead to 36-24 before I brought my starters back in.

A brilliant 2nd quarter after a terrible 1st one. Our starters came back in playing frenetic defense. We are down 39-35 at the end of the half.

We cooled them off to 35% shooting. We are shooting 34%. Young leads our team with 9 points. Morrison and Green have 5 off the bench. Iggy is 0 of 7 right now, but playing great defense in the 2nd quarter after allowing Crawford to score 11 in the 1st.

Down 62-59 at the end of 3, but our starters need a long rest. I had them do an intense practice earlier in the week and they are tired.

We were within 3 several times, but we never could tie it up. Iggy and Young both went even colder down the stretch and perhaps I should have used my bench more down the stretch. With everyone missing shots, they stretched it out to a 12 point lead in the last 5 minutes despite my bench keeping it within 3 up to the 6 minute mark. We lose 90-78.

Crawford led them with 26 points, 8 boards, 3 assists, and a steal. He was the player of the game despite shooting 9 of 26, 2 of 3, and 6 of 6.

Marbury had 15 points and 7 assists. Quentin Richardson and Curry each had 15. Randolph had 12 points and 13 boards.

Young led us with 16 points and 1 board. He shot 6 of 16, 1 of 3, and 3 of 6.

In 22 minutes, Morrison had 15 points, 4 boards, and 4 assists. He shot 7 of 17, 1 of 5, and 0 of 1.

Devin Harris had 11 points, 4 boards, and 3 assists. Iggy finished with 5 points, 2 boards, and 5 assists. He only played 30 minutes due to fatigue. He was 1 of 10 from the floor and 3 of 4 from the line. Varejao lead the team in rebounding with 11.

Today we play the Raptors on the road. They are 15-25 as Bosh has missed a few weeks with an injury. However, he is back now and they beat us 85-71. Bosh led them with 26 points and 19 boards. Ford had 13 points and 6 assists. Rookie Percy Taft had 11 points, 8 boards, and 4 assists.

Young led us with 18 points, 4 boards, and 2 steals. He shot 8 of 14. Dalembert had 13 points and 9 boards. Harris had 11 points and 2 assists. Iggy had 8 points, 7 boards, and 7 assists. He shot 3 of 10. Boone was 1 of 9 from the floor and finished with 4 points and 9 boards. Morrison had 4 points in 11 minutes off the bench. He was 1 of 4 from the floor.

We are now 14-25.

Wow, this wasn't even my game but this score caught my eye - Boston beat Sacramento 152-93! Pierce had 47 points, Allen had 34 and Garnett had 33. Rondo (who has improved and is now their starting PG) had 4 points and 17 assists.

Jan 23, 2009 -

We host the 20-21 Nets. The Clippers offered PF Al Thornton for SF Thaddeus Young. Of course, I turn it down. We lose 97-85. Iggy led us with 26 points, 4 boards, and 4 assists. He shot 9 of 15 and 8 of 9 from the line. Young had 10 points on 3 of 12 shooting. Dalmembert had 9 points and 8 boards. In 9 minutes, Bonner had 9 points on 3 of 6 shooting. Boone had 8 points and Morrison had 6. Devin Harris had 4 points and 12 assists.

Kidd led the Nets with 21 points, 10 boards, and 10 assists. Jefferson had 20 points and Carter had 16.

The Pistons have traded SG Bonzi Wells (80) to the Raptors for J Garbajosa (PF 74.)

Our next game is at home against the Blazers who are 19-22.

The Blazers are 19-22 and are about equal in team talent to our team. Oden is becoming a force and is already a top 6 center in the league.

Chase is showing why he was the 1st overall pick this game. He is all over the place and has 11 points in the 1st quarter. They are up 32-21 at the end of 1.

We are down 46-44 at the half as our defense played better once Chase left the game with 8 minutes to go due to fatigue.

Chase leads them with 19 points and 5 boards. Boone leads us with 12 points and 3 boards. Oden has 11 points and 5 boards at the half.

Down 72-65 at the end of 3. Oden is hurting us bad inside. He has 24 points and 10 boards now.

We are neck and neck for the last 5 minutes, but Chase hits 2 3's in a row to give them a 2 point lead. They get a stop when Boone misses one of his hook shots and they take a 4 point lead with 1:30 to go.

Iggy pulls it to within 2, but Aldridge hits a 18 foot jumper to stretch it back to 4 with 50 seconds left. Iggy gets a good look but misses a 3. We intentionally foul and they miss both FT's, but we have a pass stolen and have to foul again. Sloppy pass by Foye who is in because of a hot shooting streak in the 4th. They are up by 6 now. Young misses a 3 and that is it. We foul but I know there is no chance we are coming back. Young drills a 3 but we are still down by 5 with 10 seconds to go.

We lose 103-96.

Oden was the player of the game. He finished with 26 points and 12 boards along with 3 assists. He shot 10 of 14 and 6 of 11 from the line.

Chase showed me a legit reason for him being taken #1 over Boone as he put up 30 points, 9 boards, and 3 assists. He shot 12 of 22, 2 of 5, and 4 of 4. Roy had 19 points and 12 asssists.

Boone led us with 22 points, 4 boards, 2 assists. He shot 7 of 12, but missed 2 shots down the stretch. He was 8 of 8 from the line.

Iggy had 19 points, 8 boards, and 3 assiss. He shot 7 of 17, 0 of 4, and 5 of 6. Foye had 15 points and 4 assists mostly in the 4th quarter. He shot 6 of 10 and 3 of 3 from the arc. Devin Harris had 13 points and 7 assists. He shot 6 of 15. Young finished with 12 points, 5 assists, and 2 boards. He shot 4 of 13.

Young had 16 points and 6 assists on 5 of 7 shooting. Morrison had 13 points in 16 minutes off the bench. Dalembert had 11 points and 6 boards. Foye who started for Iggy had 10 points, 3 boards, and 3 assists. He shot 4 of 17.

Rashard Lewis had 19 points and 5 boards. We got Dwight Howard into foul trouble and he only played 22 minutes. He had 11 points and 5 boards in that time.

Jan 29, 2009 -

Today we travel to play the Heat. We lose 93-85. That loss drops us to 15-28. They are now 28-16. Wade had 23 points, 10 boards, and 5 assists to lead them. Shaq finished with 18 and 7. Andre Miller had 8 points and 9 assists.

Foye led us with 21 points and 4 assists despite only playing 23 minutes before he fouled out. Young had 19 points. Carney had 10, Bonner 8, and Devin Harris had 5 points along with 5 assists before he fouled out in 24 minutes.

During Iggy's injury, I'm going to play 1 and sim 5. Even doing that, I won't make it to next season before I have a chance to generate a college hoops class for next season.

The Spurs lost Manu Ginobili for the next month to a separated shoulder.

Jan 31, 2009 -

We host the Hornets and we win 95-79 surprising me. They drop to 26-19. We are now 16-28. Foye led us with 23 points, 7 boards, 5 assists, and 5 steals. He shot 10 of 16. Harris had 12 points and 10 assists. Morrison had 12 points in 16 minutes off the bench. Dalembert had 9 points and 8 boards.

Feb 5 -

We surprise the Pistons 91-70. They fall to 28-19. We are now 17-28. The team chemistry is starting to rise again as well. Foye led the team with 25 points, 4 boards, and 4 assists. He shot 10 of 13. Young had 13 points, Morrison had 13, and Boone had 12. Boone also had 13 boards which led the team.

Feb 6, 2009 -

We shock the 29-16 Clippers. We beat them 98-75! Boone led the team with 22 points and 10 boards. He shot 5 of 8 and 12 of 12 from the line. Morrison had 15 points in 17 minutes off the bench. Dalembert had 12 points and 10 boards. Devin Harris had 11 points and 9 assists. Foye had 10 points and 4 assists.

Brand led the Clippers with 14 points. He shot 4 of 18 as Boone played very good defense.

Jarvis Hayes of the Pistons is out for 7-8 weeks due to a broken ankle. Gerald Green of the Suns is out for 5-6 weeks due to a broken wrist.

Our next game is at the 23-24 Trailblazers on the 8th.

Wow. Just terrible luck with Iggy. The 76ers head coach might as well just keep a bottle of bourbon behind the desk for the next 2 months.

Can you still run the off-season before having to import a draft class for next season?

Sucks about Iggy. I guess the one bright side is your lottery chances just got better.

Any thoughts to going to using Morrison in his role more (even thought it is out-of-position)?

What are Chase's stats (Portland)?

Actually, we are 4-1 since Iggy went down. I think when he gets back, I might have to cut his minutes just a few to get more guys involved. If we keep winning like these first 5, I might have gotten lucky and increased our playoff chances, but I'm not counting on that.

Morrison is horrendous defensively. I wouldn't want him to try to guard any SG in the league, certainly not any starters. Foye is a bit undersized, but he is at least decent defensively.

I'll have to look the next time I get to play to see what Chase's stats are. I'm studying most of tomorrow but might take a break to play one game. My boards are next weekend. From what I remember from the last time I looked, he was leading all rookies in scoring at about 16 ppg.

I didn't realize Morrison was that bad on the defensive end. Good idea of not using him in that role.

The early report on OS is that College Hoops players import very well into NBA 2k8. There are some obvious flaws with the game generated rookies in NBA 2k8. I wasn't even going to consider re-starting just for "real" rookies when I started this dynasty, but now I'm at least giving it a thought. I'd like the thoughts of those who have been following along. Should I continue as is with "real rookies" starting to show up in this dynasty in the 3rd year? That would mean only 2 years of rookies with below average skills in some areas which shouldn't cause too much turmoil to the entire game universe especially since I'm editing a few attributes. Or should I restart and have real players that have a more diverse set of attributes? Of course, this is assuming that my test which I will be doing later this morning shows that attributes really hold up reasonably well when importing players from College Hoops.

I say continue on. You've already edited the rookies that were questionable, so no need to worry about them.

Cool. That is the way I was planning to go, but I just wanted to see if there was a strong response to go the other way. I'll be playing College Hoops once the real name file comes out, but continuing this career today and playing Mass Effect will keep me plenty busy until that happens. I'll save the College Hoops files from that career in case I ever get fired in this one, in which case I might re-start at that point if I can't get another job.

Today we play at Portland. If we can keep Chase and Oden under control, I like our chances even without Iggy.

Young with an early drive to get a quick foul on Aldridge to start the game. Young is going to take over today, I hope. Oden went off for 15 straight points before I started double teaming him. He led the Blazers to a 25-21 lead at the end of 1. He is killing us on the boards as well, particularly with offensive putbacks.

We are down 47-43 at the half. Oden leads them with 21 points and 11 boards. Young leads us with 12 points and an assist. Oden has 6 offensive boards which is unacceptable.

Down 61-60 at the end of 3. Devin Harris had a nice quarter and now has 15 points and 5 assists for the game.

It's been back and forth down the stretch, but a 3 by Jarrett Jack has given them a 4 point lead with 2:30 to go. Boone with a basket at the other end cuts it down to 2 with 2:09 to go.

A few plays later, Chase with a fall away jumper to make it 86-82. He has been on fire in the 4th. Morrison misses a crucial open 3. A steal by Young and Carney is fouled which gives us a chance to close with 2 with 31 seconds left...

Carney hits both of them. I've been playing Young at PG, Carney at SG, and Morrison at SF for the last few minutes because they have all been hot. We force a Chase miss thanks to decent defense by Morrison!

We call timeout with 6.5 seconds left and we are down by 2...

We get it to Boone in the post, but he misses a turnaround jumper. We lose 86-84.

Oden won player of the game with 29 points, 16 boards, 2 blocks, and 2 assists.

He shot 12 of 25 from the floor and 5 of 6 from the line.

Young led our team with 20 points, 3 boards, 3 steals, and 2 assists. He shot 7 of 18, 0 of 3, and 6 of 6.

Boone had 18 points and 8 boards. He shot 8 of 14. Devin Harris finished with 17 points and 6 assists. Carney had 10 points. Foye had 9 points, 8 boards, and 5 assists. Morrison had 6 points in 9 minutes. Dalembert finished with 4 points, 6 boards, and a block.

That loss drops us to 18-29.

The Magic offered C Chris Mihm for SG Willie Green. I'm not using Green much, but I turn down the deal.

Feb 10, 2009 -

We host the 30-18 Rockets. We shock them with a 92-83 win! Foye led the team with 31 points, 5 boards, and 5 assists. He shot 13 of 22. Devin Harris had 14 points and 5 assists. Dalembert had 9 points and 9 boards. Young finished with 8 points and 7 boards. He shot 3 of 10. Boone fnished with 6 and 6 in 30 minutes.

Mcgrady led the Rockets with 24 points, 8 assists, and 7 boards. He shot 9 of 22. Yao had 17 points, 9 boards, and 4 blocks. He shot 6 of 13.

Feb 12, 2009 -

We travel to play the 18-33 Bucks. They win 89-77. Redd had 35 points for them and Bogut added 12 points and 15 boards. Young led our team with 15 points on 4 of 16 shooting. Dalembert had 13 points and 8 boards. Harris had 11 points and 5 assists. Boone finished with 9 points and 7 boards.

Oh yeah, here are Chase's stats for the year which I wasn't able to answer earlier. 14.4 ppg, 5.1 rpg, and 1 apg. He is shooting 45% from the field. His scoring is the highest of any rookie.

Feb 13, 2009 -

We host the Raptors who are 21-30. A good fight but we fall 93-89. Foye had 20 points and 9 assists. Harris had 17 points and 5 assists. Morrison had 12 points off the bench. Willie Green had 11 points in 15 minutes off the bench. Young finished with 9 points and 6 boards. He shot 4 of 9.

Now, it is time for the All-Star Break.

The Warriors offered C Patrick O'Bryant for PF Jason Smith. I turn that down.

We travel to play the 27-25 Timberwolves. We win 108-88. Ricky Davis led them with 22 points and 5 assists. He shot 9 of 27. Foye led us with 22 points and 5 assists. He shot 9 of 12. Morrison had 18 points in 16 minutes off the bench. Harris had 13 points and 9 assists. Boone had 14 points and 10 boards. Young had 11 points on 4 of 12 shooting.

That win has us at 20-31. We are 6 games back from the last playoff spot still.

On the 20th, we travel to play the Phoenix Suns. They are 32-21. They beat us 112-100. Stoudemire led them with 32 points and 11 boards. Nash had 15 points and 10 assists. Boone led our team with 20 points and 10 boards. He shot 6 of 12 and 8 of 8 from the line. Young had 18 points and 9 assists. Harris had 16 points and 7 assists.

Our next game is on the 22nd at the Warriors. They are 25-29 currently.
