Bama's defense is stifling Clemson right now.

I like how they let the DT catch a touchdown. Always cool to see something like that.

Shoot, Im not sure Ohio St. would have done anything.

UCF may have had the best shot.

Oh well. As the saying goes "Wait till next year"

And I lol at your second comment. He called the game like a NFL coach that was scared to lose once Georgia came back. Georgia made some halftime adjustments that clearly confused the hell out of that coaching staff.

But still, you could have driven a truck through some of them holes. I guess their solid defensive performance against Ohio State is what had "some" people underestimating how poor their defense was this year.
Georgia put up 20, 17, & 28 points in their 3 marquee games, and the over/under started at 60 and moved up to 62.5... I'm not sure why you put some in quotes, but I don't think people were overestimating Oklahoma's defense. It looked like a pick 'em shootout going in, and ended up being one.

Barring some big comeback here, how many points is Alabama favored by? 7.5?

You ARE kidding, right?

Georgia looks like a clear favorite by more than one score (in real terms, what they'll do with the line to move the bets around, that's for more evolved gamblers than me)

Bama dominating the line of scrimmage for the whole game against Clemson is more impressive to me than Georgia doing so for a half vs Oklahoma (and still needing help from Lincoln Riley to stop Oklahoma's offense.) But looks like you'll be able to make some money this week if you're that confident! RJ Bell on Twitter: "EARLY LINE - Title Game

Even Vegas underestimated the pitiful defense. 62.5 was too low.

That total made my entire day
over 61 early
added 62 later
over 33(2nd half)
over 32.5 total points Georgia
and prop bets on overs for yards
Fromm 180 passing
Michel 79.5 rushing
Chubb 90 rushing
Wims 51.5 receiving
and over 13 completions from Fromm.

62 is not a line Vegas sets projecting a shootout. Something in the high 60s and 70s is shootout totals. 10 totals just during the bowl season were set higher than 62. Just saying! Not everyone, including a few in this thread, were convinced of how bad Oklahoma was on defense as if giving up 40 to Iowa State, 52 to Oklahoma State, 41 to Baylor wasnt enough.

5.5 is a nice safe line they can move either direction. Id take Bama at -3 or Georgia at +7 if it gets to either one. I dont like where it is currently sitting. Best Bet is probably the under after the public perception of Georgia's offense is this last game.

I'm not saying that is the correct play, but if you are doing that..........

wait till game day and you will likely get a better (higher) total.

Please share more....Id imagine Alabama can smother the two headed monster of Georgia and leave it up to Fromm to produce points. I cant see that a situation that is real promising for Georgia. On the other hand if Fromm makes mistakes and leaves Alabama the short field consistently it could get ugly real fast.

People don't generally want to sit around and watch a Natl Champ and root for the under hoping that nothing happens.

46 isnt a real key number so Id wait and hope that public money and books drive the line up to say 48-49, then play under that if you like it.

27-20 becomes an under winner rather than a loser.

Hope that helps.

Damn. Tough game. When Lamar didn't start I knew it was bad news, but the D held up decent enough. The o was...what I feared.

Congrats Bama, now go win the damn thing.

Appreciate that! I understand key numbers for sides but really never understood what "key" numbers are on totals and what the oddsmakers are trying to do with them. Every single year I keep thinking the unders have tremendous value for the reasons you have given but every single year my worst spot is taking unders.

Heh. the local sports station came up with a way to make the New England Patriots even MORE hated. (well, besides winning another super bowl).

Baker Mayfield as the successor to Tom Brady

Looking at Iowa's schedule next year, the only tough games are Wiscy at home and PsU on the road.

We return a ton but lose 3 starting LBs and an all american corner.

should be a 9 win season.

But Iowa is built for 2019. Figure that will be a banner year, Ferentz retires and hands the reigns to his son. Blech.

It has been over 25+ years. Grin and bear it ... great for SEC fans and especially good for GA recruiting. Hoping it continues the chink the Alabama's armor.

You don't think Tate would thrive under, say, Kevin Sumlin?

Sumlin would be as good a fit as you can probably get at this poinr, but his spread offenses have always still been pass first and idk if Tate can throw it that well. But it's not like I've watched Tate too often yet.

RichRod was not a very good coach at Arizona. His defenses have been dumpster fires and his ingame management has been suspect at best. Check out this dandy from the end of the first half in the AZ-ASU game Arizona lost:
Quote:
Arizona first down at the AZ 45
2nd‑1:00 1st and 10 J.J. Taylor rush middle for 0 yards.
2nd‑0:30 2nd and 10 J.J. Taylor rush middle for 8 yards to the ASU 47.
2nd‑0:14 - Arizona time out.
2nd‑0:14 3rd and 2 J.J. Taylor rush middle for 2 yards to the ASU 45.
2nd‑0:03 - Arizona time out.
2nd‑0:03 1st and 10 Khalil Tate incomplete pass to the left.
Basically, Arizona had the ball with 3 timeouts at their own 45. RichRod ran a running play for 0 yards and let 30 seconds tick off before running the second play (also a run) up the middle for 8. Then he calls timeout and ran a final running play up the middle for 2 yards to scramble and do a hail mary on 3rd down. The Hail Mary had 5 WRs and no RB blocking - so it ended up leaving his star QB exposed to take a massive shot that knocked him out of the game. It was the most mind-numbing series I've seen in a while.

He's had talent but been a .500 coach for a reason. This team has a ton of underclassmen and talent - I would expect a solid coach could come in and win fairly quickly.

Modified that for you

Shurg, I don't think RichRod is great, but it's Arizona football, and I don't think firing him after the early signing period is going to help their 2018 team. We'll see who they hire - there are a couple hilarious names on this list. Les Miles, Lane Kiffin, Todd Graham?

Central Florida is so cute with their participation trophy. It's like kindergarten graduation finally happened for them ... except they'll be right back to K-4 next year.

I now look forward to their 15 minutes (give or take) ending with a spectacular crash & burn. Couldn't happen to a more deserving program at this point.

Central Florida has the largest enrollment of any Florida University. They just hired an offensive guy that game planned Drew Lock to 44 TDs.

Central FLorida will be a prime candidate for the next round of expansion.

Not as long as they have a complete nutjob as AD, I can't imagine anyone would be desperate to associate with this whackadoo. If he were a different Danny White, I'd figure it was from banging his head on the turf too often back in the day but it appears to be a completely different guy.

Then again, this comedian is also the guy who seems to have come up with calling Buffalo "New York's big time athletics department". Comical statements apparently get bigger when exposed to sunlight. #WhoKnew

From the twitter of a south Georgia head football coach
(one with 2 final four & 2 elite eight appearences in our second largest classification in the past 4 years)

@CoachRock73
In light of @UCF_Football and @UCFDannyWhite's legitimate claim to the National Title, I would officially like to announce myself as @people magazine's 2017 Sexist Man Alive! Take that @blakeshelton.

Point being, when head coaches of programs that produce talent that could be on your radar -- and that are an hour closer to UCF than they are to UGA -- are mocking your silliness ...

To be fair, this championship is probably more legit than some of the titles these sec teams claim

You'd think so, but the attendance issues there (and South Florida) are worrisome. I also don't see the SEC or ACC going for them at this point unless Florida State gets poached & ACCHQ bites the bullet on their poor academic reputation, so I'm not sure when this scenario would come to pass. Though maybe the Big XII is that desperate to do something weird & invite them as a duo.

Though somehow it's not the most embarrassing fake trophy associated with UCF recently... That's still Bob Diaco's Civil ConFLiCT idea!
