maybe that's it - maybe it's a ring of contrariness? or it's not a ring that he's not wearing. maybe we do not demand that he take it off?

Yep Abe just got back to me about the Wand. It's an interesting one. It's a Wand of Igniting. Has several uses. Can be used in combat to burn through a creature's armor or fur, but can also be use to ignite an item in a room, though we won't want to use that on a chest or anything else that might contain treasure as it will be destroyed.

It can only be used by wizardly types and those who know how to use magic items like Bards. Cost valued at 150 gold, and I don't know how many charges are on it.

I will trade my remaining 3 food for it if you want?

It may be that CR simply needs his curse removed with a remove curse spell, just like PB does. I think we can best get "answers" from him with a 20 questions yes/no style of format.

It is the staff I started with. You can sell it to the djinni for 25g, I believe.

Well since I don't have to worry about charges, I can use it in combat every battle. Given my less than stellar fighting skills, it can only help. Who knows where else it might come in handy too.

But if someone else is interested in it and has something good for you in return you should take it.

you don't have to worry about charges? that's pretty awesome actually. why don't you keep it on a temporary-permanant basis then? Feel free to equip it and use it - if someone makes us a great offer than maybe we will think about selling it.

oh - i wanted to share this PM I just got from abe.

i told him i wanted to read the manual and equip with the Kusari-Gama, assuming it was better than my longsword. He said "Sorta better...sorta worse. Wait until your first combat. You'll be pleased. Very pleased."

Yep Artificers don't have to worry about charges-allows me to get around our non-offensive spells restriction. Okay sounds like a plan then. Thanks!
I also purchased some bundles of herbs, giving me three if you or Packer need them in the future.

well we've already seen people get transported around the dungeon, and we all may end up fighting if we enter a room with multiple monsters and who knows (the gods forbid!) you might die or something at some point.

Thom, can I offer you 45 gold for one bundle, with the pledge to give you 15 more when I have it? I'm getting a little twitchy here without any herbs in my pack.

And I am in the market for a wand that provides offense. I can trade a second whip +1 for it, which can be sold to the djinni for 100g.

Thom and DT - I am thinking of going right today, with the intention of going right again after that (which would put us back in the empty, natural cave room) and then going forward from there (up to the second level) Objections?

herbs? I doubt I'll need herbs on an ongoing basis, but maybe on an extraordinary basis. My lovely ability to self-heal helps with that (d'oh - that was going to be my morning action i just forgot).
