Of all the price increases I'm seeing, perhaps the most striking/ridiculous is a 12-pack of Coke for $8.

One of the things I miss about FB is the Humans of New York page. Until I realized one day that they probably post on Twitter, too.

There have been a few over the years that have moved me to tears. This one did, too, but in a completely different way.

I hear you. I just looked at my local Walgreens webpage and coke is $8.99 per 12 pack

But it is also for $13.99 for 3!

I hate that there are multiple people in my house that can’t seem to finish an entire can of Coke. Especially at these prices.

Man, that is so true. My daughter's at college so it's not as bad anymore, but between her and my wife, there would be 4-5 half-drank pops, bottled waters, tea, Starbucks, fast food drinks, etc., in our fridge at any given moment. Drives me crazy.

We used to refer to those as "girl beers" when cleaning up after a party.

I pretty much get the 2-liters unless there is a great sale for cans.

For 2-liter Coke Zero, the best I've seen recently is like buy 4 for $1.50 each. I'm pretty much the only one that drinks coke and can finish a 2-liter in a couple days.

I just can't do pop in a glass and certainly not with ice. Since August, I've transitioned to sparkling water (Bubly, Waterloo, etc.) which has helped my waistline, even though I drink nothing but zero pop. But now that I drink so little pop, I'm not looking to buy 3-4 cases at a time. And $8 for one is ridiculous.

Best around here on 2L is the occasional 4/$5 offers.

Yeah, my younger one is awful with the half-full drinks, usually Sparkling Ice. I often finish them unless they've been in bedroom/basement for a long time.

Wife keeps guzzling her Diet Coke six packs. On sale for $3 or $4 this week. Food Lion basically never has them at their "regular" price but does the Kohl's deal where they are always "on sale" but at varying prices. Weis does a "buy 2 get 2 free" (used to be get 3) deal.

That is, WHEN they are available. Last week Food Lion didn't have any and had Zero Sugar all over the place.

Kinda randomly, those (specifically the lemon-lime) are the first of any of the multitude of sparking waters et al that I've ever drank with any consistency.

I tried a stray few of my wife's Bubly but none of them ever really stuck. I'm probably good for a couple of these Sparkling Ice a week now (giving my Diet Dew mainstay a little break)

My wife gagged on Bubly. I've learned to live with the lack of sweetener.

Another really expensive but good water is Hint. It's straight water (no bubbles) with, literally, a hint of non-sweet flavor. It's an odd drinking experience - you get the smell of the fruit as you put it to your mouth, and then (at least for me) it tastes like regular water until you swallow, at which point you get just enough taste of the essence of whatever fruit it is to trick your senses into thinking it has flavor. I almost drink it like wine (and it's almost as expensive so I drink it sparingly).

Lemon-lime is good. The rest of them are almost too strong for me -- I've been putting 16oz of water/ice in my water bottle, topping it off with 8oz of the Sparkling Ice. (Satisfies my cheapskate tendencies too.)

The grapefruit sparkling ice is great.

Whether it’s my wife or 2 daughters, like, 4 ounces of Diet Coke will be left in a can, a bottle, or a mini can. I swear they just do it to fuck with me at this point.

Had my first Uber/Lyft puker in a long ass time today. First person I’ve had get sick coming out of the airport. They make it basically impossible to collect any kind of cleaning fee at this point. Thankfully I was able to get it mostly cleaned up enough to keep driving.

Last person to barf literally puked into her husband’s chest like some sort of fetish porn thing.

The wife and I are headed to Vegas in about 10 days. I have a trade association meeting to attend, and since we're childless now, she's coming along and we're going to Zion for a few days afterward. We are staying at the Wynn, which was the site of the stabbing yesterday. My wife is not taking that news well, despite the randomness of it. She's got to entertain herself for a day while I work and she's already thinking about not going anywhere, which is a major over-reaction. I suppose if she wants to waste a day indoors, have at it...?

Honestly, you can easily waste a day indoors at any Vegas casino. Hit the spa, pool, lunch, some shopping, a drink, gamble a bit, and it is time to meet for dinner. Every mega property is a resort to itself. If she wants to go to a different property such as the forum shops or check out Bellagio she can easily go to the valet and get a taxi or use an uber. I doubt she would be rally interested in walking the strip anyway save for a couple things like the fountains.

The Venetian and the Forums Shops are great for window shopping. And I agree with springing for a taxi. I'm no Vegas expert by far, but the size of the casinos makes everything look a lot closer than it is. You can think "Oh, that place is right across the street," and you will technically be right, but it is still a mile walk to get there.

That said, the weather might be nice in October, and walking the Strip during the day can be fun in itself.

Meanwhile, a big weekend out for the wife and I is staying near Atlanta in a nice hotel. We are going to eat at Fogo De Chao, and mostly relax. As boring as we possibly can be.

I do like Fogo. Great food, salad bar, and service. And they have that papaya smoothie drink.

Not sure about now but way back in early 2000's, their lunch was like $25 (I think). And I know I ate my money's worth.

We have a Texas de Brazil but haven't been yet. We had reservations for graduation but had a conflict and had to cancel. One of these days... but right now I'm trying to lose weight.

I'm obviously not a doctor, but I did watch the documentary and stay at a Holiday Inn last night. There's been healthy amount of insane narcissism from the start, but I think over time he's had to come up with more and more outrageous shit to stay in the casual public's eye and convince himself that he really is one of this generations voices of genius and should be considered as such. At some point the music (as groundbreaking as much of it was) just wasn't enough for him. That and the death of his mother seeming to be the tipping point, definitely a fascinating study. You just hope he holds it together enough so it doesn't end in real tragedy.

As this is my favorite movies of all time, I strongly disagree. Writer Bob Gale has basically said it's never happening, though I know that studios like money so if they can find a way to crank some cash out of it, they would, especially after all the main people involved are dead. There have been some shorts and a musical that came out a couple of years ago and I think it coming to Broadway at some point but that's all for now.

That's weird because he has rarely talked about that incident so I figured it was a sore subject but I guess not.

I'm sure it's purely because of the similar 3 word catch phrases, but I don't think Hilton intended for me to conflate its "For the Stay" slogan with Charmin's "Enjoy the Go" ... but here we are.

A couple of days ago I had a craving for a White Russian, a drink I havent had for about 25 years. So stopped off at the ABC store for a bottle of kahlua and picked up a carton of cream at Giant. Already had the vodka at home, obviously. A home is not a home without vodka.

Had a couple last night, settling down for a pre-bedtime White Russian now too.

White Russians are totes delish, as I believe the young people say.

This is old news (the "twist" happened back in 2019), but it's still crazy. I only stopped on this because the dude is a dead ringer for a tall Robin Harris.

Take this with a HUGE grain of salt, but I saw this video on TikTok and someone in the comments said that he knows the dude, and that he is actually Robin Harris' nephew.

He looks just like him. At the very least, it gave me an excuse to find Robin Harris's "Piccolo Player" routine on YT and laugh my ass off for the millionth time.

I've never been a milk guy, basically 2% whenever I eat cereal. But I've been working out ...

Milk + Whey Protein >>>> Water + Whey Protein

I've used 1% milk (which I normally hate) and that's good too. Next step is to try skim milk with the protein powder.

It's a very nice desert drink, but much too sweet and heavy to drink much of. Let alone, get drunk, drunk on.
