I would say he was left of center. I think it's just like how some conservatives quote statements made by Teddy Roosevelt or JFK. Seizes on points of agreement by someone on the 'other side' serves to defuse concepts of extremism etc. because hey, somebody in 'your camp' agreed with us on these issues, you're the ones who are really out to lunch, etc.

IMO FWIW, this is a neutral question rather than biased political so, to me as the sensitive to political stuff guy that I am, I'd think you should be good. I consider him left of center certainly. At the very least, use of any solid quotes (or in his case, material) can be justified under the "stopped clock exception"

I go for the corn, crunchy tortilla shells and my wife stays with the flour ones whenever we get the taco combo kit for dinner. The only thing I don't like about the shells are how they breakup after the first bite. We tried a "wavy" kind before that worked well, but they don't come in the taco kit we buy from Kroger. |

Corn tortillas are the ultimate high-volatility item for me in mexican cuisine. Good corn tortillas are incredible; bad corn tortillas shouldn't be served to anyone anywhere. For this reason, I typically opt for flour tortillas unless I know the restaurant well.

Harry, didn't watch your interview but from what I've read you/wife were pretty much passive aggressive towards the Royals.
I lean towards you being whipped and Megan being an "attention whore", but even if you were 100% right, why do you feel the need to "fight back" and bite the hand that has fed you for your first 30 years or so? Just go your own way and stay away from the royals/media, be an unknown etc. If you really hate the paparazzi's/press and want to get away from it all, be the boring person that no one cares about (e.g. buy a nice 500 acre ranch in Wyoming, don't attend any parties, and have your foundation be your front). But no, you & Megan really want to be in the limelight but only with the good stuff and not the bad stuff that comes with it. Your mom had the same choice, she also wanted the limelight but only the good stuff that came with it. Unlike your mom, you weren't in a loveless marriage, you weren't cheated on in public etc. You sniveling ingrate. Last edited by Edward64 : 03-08-2021 at 08:15 PM. |

I just found out the actor that played Ba'al on Stargate SG1 died a couple of days ago in a freak wakeboarding accident. I'm kind of bummed as I thought he was one of the better actors in that series and really enjoyed the way he played Ba'al.

Idle things that make me chuckle:
Pondering how few things I'd have to advocate banning / abolishing entirely to trigger 50% + 1 of my FB friends. It's like a mental game of Name That Tune ("I can trigger over half in 6 things ... I could trigger them in 5 ... 4 ... ) It's an authoritarian thing

My dentist started on a root canal and early on he told me it wasn't what he was expecting. He packed me up and we talked about an extraction or go see an endodontist. I like my dentist but he was leaning towards extraction and implant (assume nice profit margin for him). I asked for a referral to an endodontist who specialized in root canals. The endodontist was able to do the root canal. So I guess my advice is to ask for a second opinion. |

My wife's co-worker was cut off yesterday morning by Shaq. He was in his Bentley, and made a rolling stop at a four way and pulled right in front of her as it was her turn to go. She got mad and thought she was going to give him a piece of her mind when he pulled into a gas station. She had no idea who it was until she saw the biggest man she had ever seen get out of his car. She decided discretion is the greater part of valor and left.

We've made plans for our first real vacation in almost 2 years this summer (early August). We decided to drive instead of fly, so I did some searching last night on about 5 different rental car companies for a rental. I was under the impression companies tied to travel were hurting - WTF is up with the rates I am getting?! I was hoping they would be trying to give away cars to get business. Instead, I feel like I'm trying to rent the Batmobile during Comicon.

Try AutoSlash. It's been a while, but they have saved me hundreds renting out of Boston.
Though one time Boston rentals were so expensive right after they built the new car rental facility, that we took a Lyft 10 miles to a local suburban Enterprise and saved a few hundred for a week's rental. Though we had to go to the rental car facility first, because Lyft/Uber didn't pick up at the airport then. The lengths I go to save cash. That was also a few years ago. Thanks for the tip. They gave me basically the same rates I was finding on my own. Alamo was reasonable (that's who I booked with for the time being - hopefully I can find a better deal between now and then), a few others were more than I want to pay, and Hertz I assume was going to come with a chauffeur for the price they quoted.

Hire someone on Cameo to do it. But seriously, that must suck. It's one thing I'll probably never have to worry about in my middling career. My girlfriend has to fire people all the time as a grocery store manager. I don't think she has too hard a time with it because by that time, they've usually made her life miserable and really deserve it. Last edited by molson : 03-18-2021 at 12:23 PM. |

Not a fun thing to do, and I used to have to do a fair amount of it. I consider it an accomplishment that several people I've fired ended up staying in touch with no hard feelings. It was usually in cases where I had clearly laid out rules and they were broken. I genuinely didn't want to fire the people but when rules are broken I had no choice, and letting it slide would have damaged my standing with the other employees. I've also mistakenly fired people. One of those deals where it's a he said, she said incident and I found out later that I believed the wrong person. I've bumped into a person that was a victim of that and profusely apologized. |
