I feel like this is the E3 presentation that should have happened last year that would have put MS in a great position for launch. Lots of games, very little other stuff.
Noticeably absent from the presentation. One Kinect game and no mention of the $399 price point. |

Fable Legends looks terrible. If it was a true sequel, I'd be tempted to get an XB1 at some point, but that spinoff thing means I'll be sticking with my PS4 for quite some time to come.

I'm genuinely shocked by that. I could easily have seen them going for something like $150 with this. Honestly, the most tempting thing I've seen for XBOne. Bears noting, I guess, that I never really got into the Halo series particularly (unlike my son) so this represents an enormous amount of "new" content for me.

I'd be excited for Crackdown. Didn't see much else in there that made me sit up and take notice.
I agree with Jon, though, the Dead Rising 3 DLC is the definition of 'absurd.' |

EA is up now, hyped for more Madden footage that looks twice as good as the actual release will.

So apparently characters in the new Sims can, among other things, literally laugh themselves to death.
O-kay.

I was thinking Payday meets GTA after that Battlefield. Not feeling it.

Very little gameplay. Too much "prototype." Saw the same sports games. Just really nothing new that was exciting.

FarCry 4, Nov. 18th.
Gonna need quad Titan Z cards in SLI to play it at a decent frame rate.

The Crew sounds awfully ambitious. A MMO with the entire continental US to explore.
On a side note, a driving simulator, ala Flight Simulator, with all of the roads in the US has been a long time dream of mine to see.

If that video from The Order was supposed to be indicative of actual gameplay it kind of made it look terrible.

Looks like Project Beast is now titled Bloodborne. Anything by From could get me excited, but especially this when it's by the Dark Souls 1 and Demon Souls team.

Oooh, Dead Island 2 is being made by Yager who made the fantastic Spec Ops: The Line. Wasn't too interested by the announcement of the second with another CGI trailer, but hopefully they can do for the zombie shooter what they did with the modern military shooter.

So there's been a great deal of rumors spinning around over the last couple days about Titanfall 2 being a multiplatform title. Does anyone really care at this point? I suppose it's a PR win for Sony to take away what MS thought was a system seller, but with the apparently quick reduction in number of players and interest by X1 users, I'm not sure it's much more than that.

Yeah, no. It's a great game, wish there was more content for $60, but I've still had a blast playing it. Only console FPS I've truly ever enjoyed. I'm very interested to see TF2, both to see if/how they expand on content(SP?) and also to see it on the PS4. A few people say it's simplistic and get bored of it in 10 minutes, but there is more of a learning curve than meets the eye and they likely gave up on it before getting over it. Yeah, Titanfall was such a flop, it was the best selling next-gen game for only 12 weeks. I guess no one does care.

Another piece of info that came out last night was that GTA V is coming to next gens and PC this fall, and the game will be able to import your existing save game.

In fairness, that could say something about the strength (or lack thereof) of console titles at the moment.

Possibly. But until Watchdogs came out, Titanfall was the biggest selling next-gen title, with over 1.8 million copies sold, nearly half a million more than the next highest selling title. So if it was a failure, then it would seem a case could be made that every next-gen game up to this point has been an utter failure.

Absolutely. There was nothing to be had. Also, these kinds of games aren't made for the up-front sales anymore. They (especially EA) are focused on DLC, add-ons, etc. To make money on that end, they need to have longevity in regards to number of players who play the game for a long period of time. Games like COD and Battlefield have great life spans that allow them to cash in far and above the $60 entry fee. Titanfall by all accounts had a large drop-off in users after two months. That's definitely not what they were looking for. |

In a more general sense, I think that's really what I'm looking for as well -- games with longevity. While I may not be the average/typical gamer, I'm probably more conscious than ever of situations like COD:Ghosts, where on the one hand I'm critical of numerous flaws & lack of freshness & increasingly mediocre (or worse) single player action ... but I'm currently sitting around 150 hours of gameplay, almost entirely online multiplayer. I may bitch but it's obviously playable as a level grinder for me. I'm also an "anti-social" gamer, in the sense that I really don't give a flying fig about the play-with-buddies aspect of the games. My typical time of day for playing makes that a near impossibility (unless I had all my friends on the west coast or beyond), I don't care much for trying to match up schedules, I just want to play the game. Watching E3 yesterday the only thing that really felt exciting to me was the Halo box set (for reasons I touched on yesterday), that's something that I could definitely see myself getting the pennies-per-hour ROI out of, and since those games do exist for me (like COD:G) then that's really the sort of return I'm looking for in order to feel satisfied.
