But I'm assuming this is somehow related to the gif on the last page in what looks like a college lecture hall...???

Sometime earlier in this thread I posted pics from Aiguille du Midi, which is near the top of Mont Blanc and reached by a ride on a gondola. They've added a new attraction, which is a clear platform hanging over the side, which gives you a view of over 3000 feet straight down into the town of Chamonix.

That's it, as soon as I can fly long durations comfortably again, I'm booking my trip to Chamonix. Shame I couldn't go there when I was healthy enough to climb/do some mountaineering.

I would love to go there. I have a strong affinity for spectacular mountain scenery and I know the Alps have some of the best in the world.

Eh, I wouldn't say they all look like twins. While the overall appearances of the subjects are similar*, there are differences if you really look (or in some cases, there is one particular feature that is spot-on, while others not so much).

* this may vary on how good you are at facial recognition/distinguishing features; my son (and my wife to some extent) seems to be not so good - he's always mentioning how X on TV looks like Y, when there is really not that much of a similarity at all. For years too he's had people walk by and say hi to him and we'll ask "who was that?" and he'll give a *shrug*. Granted he does need a better prescription on his glasses, but that's not all of it. Oh - the "we treat you like you'd treat you" commercials are another good example. He swears those two black women are the same person.

That's hilarious because my wife says the same thing about that particular commercial and I still haven't stopped giving her shit for being a horrible racist. They look nothing like each other afaic but she's genuinely convinced.

Had been meaning to post in here for a while, cause these are pretty damn cool to me. Few of my favorites from our wedding in Riviera Maya last June.

Top pic is coming back off the dock where we saw each other the first time that day, then a pic from our beach BBQ rehearsal dinner the night before, and last is from the "trash the dress" session we did during our honeymoon in Tulum a few days later.

Cool, it's in Switzerland close to Austria. When I go on my cross-country Austria trip that will only ever happen in my dreams, I'll have to convert it to a cross-countries trip trough both.

I found the place by accident. I made a wrong turn, and saw it. It looked really cool, so I stopped and took pictures. I didn't make a note of name of the location, but a little bit of Googling led me to the place name.

Ok what's up with that "with makeup" and "without makeup" pic? I've seen it all over today and I DON'T GET IT.

Somehow, I think I'm happier that way.

This puzzled me as well. Best I can figure they must have dropped the puck before he ever got in goal (those intermission deals are sometimes pretty rushed affairs). The goalie apparently couldn't stay on his feet and a photographer had actually tried to help him prior to what the ref does in the gif. A few stills from it are in this link

It seems possible that Oscar Wilde is managing the made-up version, and the boozing/whoring/fast-cars/egg-whipping version is merely the portrait.

I look forward to the Nick Nolte stage of her career.

I was in a hot sauce shop a month ago. They had the top 10 hot sauces in a locked case. The #1 sauce went for $99.95. They had a 21 year old age limit. And warnings to wear gloves and eye wear and only use a drop in cooking and not on food.

Crazy.

I remember testing a hot sauce that you could sample via a drop on a toothpick. I felt it even after 30 minutes.

At what point is hot sauce just too hot? Or anything hot for that matter. I remember ordering Vindaloo just once to try it. Spent most of the time gulping water and not tasting the curry.

Crazy.

My wife got one for me once where she had to sign a release stating that she wouldn't carry an open bottle of it in the car or carry it over state lines at all.

It's when you stop enjoying it. I love spicy stuff, but anything that's sole purpose is to burn the shit out of you isn't fun to me at all and most of it tastes like shit.

To be honest, habanero pretty much overpowers anything it is mixed with. I have a friend who grows ghost peppers and a bunch of other stuff though.
