This was in the mainstream before Deadspin released any evidence. But they gave the same story back in February when Sturger told them about it, and not a single media person attempted to follow-up on it to see if there was something to it.

Like I said, I find the timing very odd.

She didn't give out the voicemail recordings or show the pictures then -- wouldn't any follow-up have led to a dead end there, since back then the story relied completely on her word?

My guess is that she was holding back the info(Deadspin seems to be heavily pushing her to putting this info out) and when the Vikings were 1-2 it was no big deal. Now that Moss enters the equation and the Vikings seem frisky again, Deadspin probably pushes her to release the extra info.

And your point is...? Since when does that stop anyone from reporting things as news?

I'm sure Tiger Woods would have appreciated the same journalistic integrity back when it was "news" that a Japanese website had created an animation of what likely happened the night he crashed his car.

I'm not sure why we should be upset with the decision to hold off on the story until there was some concrete evidence.

I'm not upset, I just find it curious because lack of evidence never seems to stop other stories from being broken when they are first learned. More than anything, I'm just finding it hard to believe this is news now when it was first known back in February. Corroborating evidence is just a luxury.

ESPN pretty much controls the national discussion on sports, and when they want to protect one of their guys they will.

Oh, and just in case we're not entirely clear about reporting things without evidence, what just happens to be in the article about the Sturger matter? This:

Quote:
Later Friday, Deadspin reported that Favre also pursued two female massage therapists who worked part-time for the team, according to one of the women.

Isn't that the same "evidence" Deadspin offered about the Sturger matter back in February that nobody bothered to report back then?

Who gives a shit? Obviously the female(s) that recieved the "dong" pic didnt think it was a huge deal at the time. Why should it become a big deal now? The NFL is going overboard for even looking into this stupidity.

Please "cite" the sexual harrassment allegations. And what the fuck does betting on college football have to do with this thread you trolling moron?

Yeah, could you please cite where she made a sexual harassment allegation? Not difficult it is?

Big difference between being a "creep" and having sexual harrassment allegations. As far as I know he wasnt breaking any laws if she took as "creepy".

If there is a chance for a sexual harassment case against Brett Favre, don't you think she would be tapping that pipeline as fast as possible?

NFL finds out a player sent a picture of his cock to a sideline reporter. And you're saying they shouldn't look into this? Are you crazy?

So let's say we go with your theory that it doesn't matter because the chick didn't mind the pictures. Let's say it happens to another reporter. Imagine how excited the lawyer will get when he finds out that the NFL let another instance of this go without even investigating it. Open, shut case. It won't even go to trial. NFL will be settling out of court for a massive sum.

Why is the NFL responsible for what every player in the NFL does? Was she on duty when these messages were sent? It is a lot to do about nothing if the chick didnt think it was a big deal. If an NFL player grabs some chicks ass in the bar and someone else doesnt think its right does the NFL have to look into this as well? Its pretty damn harmless to me unless the chick thinks there is an issue. Just because Deadspin offered to pay her big $ to report the story it suddenly becomes an issue.

Im sorry I just dont see this being news worthy as Im sure it happens quite often and doesnt get reported.

Seriously? You don't see how the behaviors of the NFL's employees reflect on the NFL and that they have every right to investigate these instances in order to help protect their own image?

Also, there's a degree of difference between a little grabass and sending your unsolicited dick picture to a girl.

Oh I understand. I just think its a slippery slope they are going down by looking into things like this.

Where does the amount of control they have over players stop? I dont see how a private text to someone deserves national attention(or their investigation) ESPECIALLY since this lady wasnt going to say anything about until the $ comes in.

She was a junior employee of the company Favre worked at. 100% sexual harrassment if it was unsolicited, no questions asked.

He should be fined for wearing Crocs anyway.

I love the Favre protectionism. No one seems to care that he's married.

Haven't been following this story all too closely, but is it 100% Favre? I thought I remember reading/hearing somewhere that this very well can be a hoax.

Like I said, I find the timing very odd.

I really don't think it's ESPN's job to play criminal or civil case investigator.

I got into this in the other thread but I think we're naive when it comes to the sex lives of pro athletes. ESPN isn't going to report on every piece of info they have about an athlete being pervy. I'm sure that reporters there know all kinds of crazy stuff that would shock us.

The second the NFL looks into it though, it's a story, and its getting ESPN coverage now.

I can't believe so many people expect ESPN to lead sportscenter with a story like, "a female sideline reporter tells us that Brett Favre sent her a picture of his cock." I don't think that's what they're selling. "Up next on sportsenter, LaBron James a 3-way in Vegas and snorts coke of a stripper's ass."

As for what happened - I find it pretty hard to believe that Favre is sending random cock pictures to women that aren't expecting them. "I'd like to see you tonight" is usually something you say to someone you're already having some kind of fling with.

Roethlisberger gets 4 games, based on no charges filed, but his second offense. What does Favre get with photographic evidence?

And poor Goodell, how does he go about confirming it is Favre in the picture? Maybe call in Madden as an expert witness? Drawing X's and O's all over Favre's cock.

The Fox digital scoreboard already had the Rams winning 10-0 before kick-off.

The Rams then tried an on-side kick and the Lions recovered. Perhaps the Rams were trying to put a nail in the coffin by going up 17-0.

Awesome play by Peppers. Tipped a pass straight up, fell down, and managed to dive forward to catch it for the INT.

And dola, it's a good thing Forte broke a couple runs, because out of the few passes Collins has thrown, he's had zero time to throw. Looks like he's a dead man if he has to drop back.

Absolutely shitbrained of the Chiefs to leave points on the board. 4th and inches I can understand but 4th and 2? Pretty moronic if you ask me, and nobody did.

Oh, and that could just as easily be my cock as it could Bret Favres. (It's not)
