Not that anyone really cares, but:

Kansas 55
Florida International 3

to go along with

Sat, Sep 1 Central Michigan W 52-7
Sat, Sep 8 Southeastern Louisiana W 62-0
Sat, Sep 15 Toledo W 45-13

Not much competition there but impressive scores. KU doesn't play next week, giving it 2 weeks to prepare for Kansas State in Manhattan, who took this week off to prepare for Texas in Austin. I can't wait.

Anyway.. they were talking about the HUGE upset... sorry, Wofford over Appy St. by 11 points is not a HUGE upset.. just because Appy St. beat Michigan doesn't mean they're going to just do a cakewalk through I-AA. Undefeated teams rarely, rarely happen in I-AA even by dominant teams that win championships.

This thread is a bit shocking to me. I am no SEC fan, Hell ACC/SEC is a pretty huge rivalry down here, but anyone who doesnt think the SEC is without a doubt 1 or at worst 2nd in terms of top to bottom strength isnt watching the same games I am

I'm an SEC homer and wont' say that the SEC is necessarily the best conference this year, but clearly anyone trying to say the Big East is the best or better than the SEC is delusional/completely homering it.

Huge, huge PI call in the Georgia - Bama game. That keeps Alabama alive.

Followed immediately by a blown call on a pass near the sidelines. Surely that one gets corrected by replay.

edit to add: It was corrected (Bama ball on the Ga 7) but it sure took 'em long enough.

Could be an interesting 5 minutes here if Bama gets their heads on straight.

Wow. You've gotta stay on your feet with that catch buddy. I know it was a little long, but no reason to fall over.

Oh well, I really liked what I saw from the offense tonight. 41-14 towards the end of the 3rd.

They might very well still screw it up but a nice playcalling sequence there by Major Applewhite.

Very much so. His play calling all game has been pretty damned good for such a young guy/1st year coordinator. Execution hasn't always been so great, but...

I get the feeling, just watching Alabama tonight, that they're similar to South Carolina for the past couple of years. Not a terrible team, but just undertalented compared to a lot of the teams they face. I'm just not seeing too many players for them that I believe would be starters elsewhere in the top half of the conference, especially on the offensive side of the ball.

Agreed.
Bama and SC are probably 1-2 (or maybe 3rd with Meyer thrown in there)in terms of coaching, but down the ladder a bit in terms of talent. Makes for a hell of clash in the middle as over talented teams are undercoached (read Auburn, Georgia, etc.) and meet undertalented overcoached.

Agreed. But, like SC, coached well enough that when the players paly at the top of their game they can shake things up.

It will be interesting to see what happens with Bama if Saban steps up the recruiting. They seem to have found a gem in their OC and lord knows they have a fan base ready and craving a championship contender.

Happens all too often in college football. These kids just can't recover on defense when those plays break down like that.

Did anyone else watch that Football show on MTV? It's always very weird to really watch JP Wilson after watching his little brother on that show.

Coming down to a 58ish yd FG attempt with :12 left at Alabama.
Into a light wind.

edit to add: Instead they go for it & throw to the 30 with 5 seconds left.
And completed to the guy who had been dropping balls all night.

Badgers finally take the lead in Madison, 14-10 over the Ferentzes.

Is it just me, or has Mark Richt gotten a little pudgy lately?

Coutu is a danged good kicker (who UGA really missed last season when he was hurt). I got a bad feeling about this.

+1

UGA losing to Bama and SC in the same season would be fantastic.

Even though it missed, that was a damned good kick. As much as I love to hate on UGA, I agree with the coach that had him put his head up - 45+ yard kicks for a college player are not easy business.

Way to waste your first shot in OT.

They've gotta hope for a big showing by their D.

In the CB's defense - you can't cover a whole lot closer than he did right there, especially when he stubmled in the coverage.

Notice that when Tyler Donovan has the ball in late game situations with the lead, he NEVER scrambles out of bounds. Love that guy.

That was nearly the play of the night for Iowa, if the receiver doesn't stumble.

My goodness. Talk about your good news/bad news - Iowa fans, the good news is that Jake Christensen had a man wide open for a game winning touchdown pass in the closing minutes of their big 10 opener. The bad news is, the receiver fell down trying to catch the ball, and completely missed it.

Essentially...4th and 10, down 4 from their own... er... 25ish, their receiver runs past five guys in coverage and ends up three yards behind everyone - the pass is maybe a little overthrown, but the receiver stumbles and can't get to it... had he made the catch, he'd have won the game for them.
