Overcast weather free of rain made for a crowd turnout of 32191 at Starks Pond today. SouthPark tactics involved an interesting 4-4-2 combination. The following players had been chosen: Tirado - Vervaeke, Soler, Reyes, Babcock - Guy, Danhof, Persson, Couwenberg - Orkola, Tackmann.

Balls had chosen a strategic 3-5-2 formation. The following players had been chosen: Lochak - Soós, Cowie, Kjellerberg - Uba, Byrne, Gibson, Dolan, Knaus - Kjeldberg, Keefe.

SouthParks Yuri Danhof gave, after 14 minutes, the home team a 1 - 0 lead after an attack coming in from the right. Balls were close to putting the equaliser away in the 19:th minute as the opposing defence lost control of the ball in a scuffle in front of the goal, but in the end the ball was cleared over the sideline. Per N. Kjellerberg of Balls received a yellow card in the 24:th minute for unsportsmanlike behaviour. A couple of quick and successful challenges, followed by a shot from just outside the penalty area after 26 minutes might have resulted in another goal for SouthPark. However, Raymond Lochak made a spectacular save. 1 - 0 was the half-time score. Balls held the ball, with a clear 55 percent possession rate.

A really bad tackle inside the penalty area in the 49:th minute gave the referee no other choice but to award visiting Balls the penalty shot. Fabio Knaus knocked home 1 - 1. Balls had a good opportunity to score the lead goal but the home team goaltender Fred Tirado saved Cliff Keefe´s shot headed for the top corner. The referee showed SouthParks Yuri Danhof the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. Balls had several good opportunities to take the lead, especially in the 84:th minute when Fabio Knaus came up alone against Fred Tirado who managed a block. In the 87:th minute Ballss Jamie Cowie received a yellow card for going into a challenge studs first. The fortyfive minutes were dominated by Balls, with an impressive 57 percent possession of the ball.

After the regular 90 minutes, the agony of overtime followed. The terraces were silenced in the 95:th minute as Balls´s Jørn Kjeldberg put the guests ahead 1 - 2, following an attack from the right. This put an end to extra time, making Balls the winners. The most dominating SouthPark player was without a doubt Fred Tirado. Tory Guy was a disappointment, however. The most dominating Balls player was without a doubt Jimmy Gibson. However, Gergely Soós made a disastrous appearance. The match ends 1 - 2.

Stinks that you're moving down, Lytic. On the bright side, a season or two of V ball can really get your team's motor running on high octane. I agree though...midfield is still > all. Sometimes I let myself think otherwise, but things like this snap me back to reality.
