Phew. I couldn't make up my mind on my 3rd jump and I'm glad my choice paid off.

If I don't get styles in - the conservative column will be used. |

EVENT 3 - SHOT PUT - THROW 1
Pflaggstettler - foul Lesgettham - a big first attempt 52' 8" (5 better results in normal 1 in aggressive) Yellope - his first effort nearly matches Darius' - 52' 5". An excellent attempt for a guy that isn't good in this event. (you have maxed out - there are no results better than this on the card) Palmer - his rough meet continues as he fouls the first attempt. Mighty - 51' 10" - is a great effort from Mighty - who doesn't blow away the score board in this event (3 results better in normal 1 in aggressive) Gonzalez - 50' 1" is a pretty poor attempt from a very good put thrower. Mello - an EXPLOSIVE effort from Mello, the put thuds into the earth 54' 5" away. (really good but there are still several better outcomes in both the normal and aggressive columns) Babson - keeps pace with the first few decathletes that threw earlier - 52' 7" real good considering the injury. Kappe - a terrible first attempt 45' 5". Ivanov - 51' 1" not close to his best effort, but a nice number to work off of. Eckberg - launches his first attempt - 53' 7" (several better results still on the card) Soldier - the injury is really hampering Kem in an event that he doesn't excel -47' 9" Gunner - the put appears to slip a little in Stan's hand. The result is an absolute waste. He's actually embarassed by this result - 44' 6". He's actually one of the events best so expect a better effort in throw 2. Elli - 48' 10" - not a good effort Cat - terrible 42' 11" distance. Cat's not good in this event - but he can do better than he did in this throw. Nights - an ok 51' 4" toss. It gives him a solid score that he can improve on with the other 2 throws. |

Seeing as Mello has to make up ground from the horrid long jump, he will now go AGGRESSIVE on throws 2 and 3 (unless he hits the max in throw 2, in which case he will stop so as to avoid injury).

EVENT 3 - SHOT PUT - 2nd Throw Style Status Update
I have styles entered for: Pflaggstettler Lesgettham Palmer Gonzalez Mello Babson Ivanov Eckberg Soldier Gonzalez Elli Nights Mighty Missing Styles for: Gunner Kappe Cat (Kappe and Cat haven't sent in styles in quite a while, but Gunner has been pretty good about getting his styles in - hopefully he'll send it in before 10). Other: Yellope is finished - having maxed out If anyone sees that I've missed a style let me know. Last edited by Breeze : 08-18-2005 at 06:46 AM. |

EVENT 3 - SHOT PUT - Throw 2
Pflaggstettler - crouch, turn, explode, launch - a huge throw - the judges back up to allow the shot to land - 57' 2" (you have maxed out on this event) Lesgettham - clips the toe board - Foul Yellope - Passes Palmer - poor Deacon, his luck just isn't getting any better. He over rotates and clips the board - foul. Now he faces a situation where he only has 1 throw remaining to get a acore in this event. Mighty - a good throw, but it doesn't better his first attempt - 51' 1" Gonzalez - his second attempts looks almost identical to the throw Mighty executed just a minute before. The measurement places it at 51' 4" - a decent improvement over throw 1. Mello - after his good first attempt, Marvin is free to go after his second. The toss is well executed and the put lands 55' 9" (I count 4 results better in the normal column and 2 in the aggressive) Babson - decides to take a wait and see attitude on this event. his 52' 7" result in throw 1 has him in decent standing under the injury circumstances. He would prefer to rest the injury - but if there are too many really good throws he may be forced to give it one more try on his third attempt - Pass Kappe - Fouls - still sitting on a poor 45' 5" effort. Ivanov - His second attempt appears to be almost 2' better. The actual measurement is 52' 10". Eckberg - Fouls Soldier - 44' 4" - not better than the 1st attempt Gunner - Fouls - still sitting on the poor 44' 6" effort. Elli - fouls - still at 48' 10" Cat - a big effort from a poor put-er. It looks like it might be 10' further than the first attempt. Official measurement is 51' 7". (can't better this in the normal column, there are 3 better in the aggressive) Nights - 49' 11" - not as good as throw 1. |

Stan,
Can you clarify? Are you asking for me to breakdown your player for all event like I've done before the start of each? Or are you asking to know which table you character hit on each event? Or is it something else? By the way - I don't have a problem with you sending in detailed instructions for each attempt. So if you want to state: Throw 1 - normal Throw 2 - if foul on 1 - normal, if 1st is < 50 then normal, else aggressive etc. I'll try to accomodate you as best I can. |

EVENT 3 - SHOT PUT - Throw 3
Pflaggstettler - after his impressive second toss, Pflaggstettler passes. Lesgettham - tries one more time to better his first attempt - this one is a clean throw, but it appears short of the 52' 8" initial effort. The final measurement confirms my suspecions - 52' 0". Yellope - was in the shade, with his shoes off, drinking something with an unbrella in it, and enjoying the competition. - Pass Palmer - despiritly needs a good throw and a safe one. With 2 fouls headed into this toss, plus 2 poor performances on the previous events, Palmer really needs a good result. The toss is safe, no white flag is raised. The result however, isn't overly impressiv. - 46' 9" Mighty - passes Gonzalez - clips the toeboard - foul Mello - gets a safe throw - but it's significantly shorter than the other two - in fact so short - he trys to wave off the measurement - 48' 11" Babson - passes so he can continue receiving treatment on his injury. Kappe - can't improve on the 45' 5" first throw when he fouls on his last attempt. Ivanov - 52' 0" - doesn't improve on the 2nd attempt. Eckberg - gets a nice 53' effort, but he 7" shorter than the 1st toss. Soldier - only 44' 6". Gunner - sitting on a real poor 44' 6" effort - Stan needs a good toss to stay around the top of the leaderboard. He spits, explodes and launches the put, and he's got the throw he needed. It lands and the tape says 56' 0". A clutch toss by Gunner. Elli - Fouls again. Cat - a good throw of 49' 9", but it's almost 2' shorter than his last toss. Nights - a good throw that will be close in distance to his first. The tape is stretched out and it comes to 51' 7" a slight improvement. Last edited by Breeze : 08-22-2005 at 12:19 PM. |

EVENT 3 - SHOT PUT - REVIEW
Big winners in this event are actually a surprise. Yellope a C level column was able to keep pace with most of the field in a weak event, moreover, he was able to do it in just 1 throw so he actually will receive an extra high jump attempt without fatigue penalty. Babson, being injured was actually lucky to get as good as result as he got in just 1 throw as well. Obviously Pflaggstettler did well and so did Gunner, but they are both A columners and were expected to do well. There were more poor results than good ones in this event. Gonzalez is an A level performer that finished in the bottom third. Nights is another A level performer and he barely did better than Gonzalez. Anyone that didn't reach at least 48' did poorly in this event, and fell back. Kappe may be the biggest disappointment. He is a B column shot put-er and he finished so poorly that not only did he lose the overall lead - he plummetted in the standings. |

You know, 5th place should have been good, but the throws at the top were so strong it was more like finishing in the middle of the pack. I will be interested to see the overall standings and see how much ground I need to make up. This next event will be critical.

EVENT 4 - HIGH JUMP - Results Specific
The High Jump event is played differently than the 2 previous events. The player will need to announce their intentions before each height. I will in the event preview let you know what your maximum and minimum heights are (so you should have an idea where to start your jumping). As for "NG" results (no good) and injuries - it varies by competitor and would be difficult to breakdown quickly. Since you have no control over the percentages and you don't get to specify (conservative, normal or aggressive) I wasn't planning to break it down. Let me know if you have any questions - I'll try to get the preview up later this morning. |

EVENT 4 - HIGH JUMP - Quick Note
I think I might need to explain how this event works - so you'll understand the write-ups and be able to intelligently determine where and when to jump. The high jump column lists a height in each row. If you announce you are going to jump and the number in row that corresponds to your roll is equal to or better than the height attempted the jump is successful. If the height is lower then the jump is missed. Therefore, is you announce you are attempting a jump of 6' 9" and the roll says 6' 11" the jump of 6' 9" is good. This is important to understand so you can determine when to start jumping. Your lowest successful jump might be in the 6' 6" range, but if you only have 1 of those in the entire column it would be a waste of a jump to start at that height (unless you wanted to assure a score), In fact, it is possible that you might not have to jump until several inches later based on the card. I'll try to let you know how many outcomes fall into the lower end heights (out of a possible 30 outcomes) - but I wasn't planning to breakdown the probabilities of the height (though I will occassionally state if the rolls are in high or low probability areas). |

EVENT 4 - HIGH JUMP - PREVIEW
Pflaggstettler - this card has very tightly bunched results - and it should make decissions on when to jump and when to pass much easier. The max is 7', but it will be difficult to reach because it only appears on 2 low probability rolls. 6' 10" or 6' 11" should be attainable however. The low end good jump appears to be 6' 8" there is only 1 but it is on 32 (5.65) so it's not unlikely that it could occur, and there are around 7 rolls of 6' 9" - however most are on uncommon outcomes - only the one on 24 ( 5.6%) is in a high probability roll. Lesgettham - this care is the opposite of Pflaggstettler's. It is much more random. 7' is the maximum outcome - with 5 of them on the card including high probability rolls of 33 (6.9%) and 24 (5.6%) the max is reachable. the low end appears to be 6' 6" with a couple of them appearing - the most troublesome one is on 31 (4.2%). This column has more high end results but it also has a wide spread of outcomes - there are several 6' 7" to 6' 9" results including ones on the most common rolls of 34 (8.3%) and 35 (8.3%). Yellope - 7' is again the max - with 4 possible outcomes, but none appear on high probability rolls. There is a wide spread with 6' 7" being the low end - there is only 1 but it is on a high probability roll of 25 (5.6%). The most common outcomes appear to fall in the 6' 8" to 6' 10" range. Because Yellope only attempted 1 Shot Put toss he will get an extra jump (8 total) without fear of fatigue penalty be assessed in the 400 meters. Palmer - poor Deacon, he's a B level performer here, but his column isn't very good. 6' 11" is the max, but there are only 2 on 21 (2.8%) and 15 (2.8%), neither is a very likely roll. 6' 6" is the low - there is 1 of them on 38 (2.8%), 6' 7" is next and there is one of those on 20 (1.9%). The rest appear to be 6' 8" and 6' 9". The is one 6' 10" outcome on rarely rolled 13 (2.3%). Mighty - can get a jump of 7" with rolls of 16 (1.9%) or 22 (3.7%). Does have a few 6' 11" outcomes including one on the prime roll of 34 (8.3%). Also has some 6' 10" outcomes in nice locations. The low end is 6' 6" - including one on 24 (5.6%) and another on 35 (8.3%). Those two outcomes on high probability rolls will make it difficult to determine when and how often to jump. Mighty like Yellope will get an extra attempt in this event without fatigue penalties being applied to the 400 meters. Gonzalez - David has a chance to really make a jump in the standings. His max is 7' 4" - with one sitting on a 33 (6.9%). the other 2 are on low probability rolls of 11 (1.4%) and 17 (1.4%). There are 10 other jumps over 7', but only 7' 1" results on 37 (4.2%), 35 (8.3%), and 32 (5.6%) plus a 7' 3" on 22 (3.7%) and 7' 2" on 24 (5.6%) and 27 (2.8%) are in decent probability locations. The low end appears to be a 6' 9" result on a difficult to get 16 (1.9%). There are only 4 other rolls under 7'. Mello - Marvin isn't a good high jumper, but he can max out at 6' 11" - it would take a roll of 26 (3.7%) or 12 (1.9%). There is a 6' 10" on 36 (5.6%) which is comforting the rest of the 6' 10" outcomes appear in the 10s. The low end is 6' 2" and one is on 33 (6.9%) another is on 25 (5.6%). There are several 6' 3" and 6' 4" outcomes. Babson - he won't be penalized for his injury in this event, so he needs to perform well here. Unfortunately, he's one of the few B level cards that can't reach 7' for a max. The max is 6' 11" with 2 shots at it - 14 (2.8%) and 28 (1.9%). However, there are some 6' 10" results in nice locations 33 (6.9%), 34 (8.3%), 25 (5.6%), plus 3 more on low probablity rolls. The low end is a 6' 5" on 32 (5.6%) and 30 (2.8%). Ther are afew 6' 6" outcomes and several in the 6' 7" 8" and 9" in high probability locations including the 35 and 36 rolls. Because of 2 passes in the Shot Putt - Babson will get an 8th high jump attempt without any fatigue penalty in the 400. Kappe - the leader after 2 event is looking to rebound following a poor effort in the shot. He can get to 7' but it would take a roll of 24 (5.6%), 39 (1.4%) or 17 (1.4%). Low end is the 6' 5" outcoe on 29 (.9%). There are several 6' 6" rolls - 33 (6.9%) and a couple in the middle teens. There are also several 6' 7" rolls. The most common rolls of 34 (8.3%) and 35 (8.3%) have a 6' 10" and a 6' 11" outcome on them respectively. Ivanov - isn't a strong high jumper, but could get to 6' 10" with a roll of 19 (.5%), 21 (2.8%), 37 (4.2%). almost all of his outcomes are between 6'7 and 6' 8". The low is a 6' 3" result, but luckily it only appears on 11 (1.4%). When taken all together there are still quite a few 6' 5" and 6' 6" results on the card. Eckberg - 6' 11" is the highest result - with several on the card - unfortunately most are in the 10s. 10 (.9%), 11 (1.4%), 12 (1.9%), 14 (2.8%), 15 (2.8%), 26 (3.7%), 30 (2.8%). There are also 5 results at 6' 10". The low end is 6' 6" with 3 appearing - one on the roll of 35 (8.3%) that can't make Eckberg comfortable. The others are on 39 (1.4%), and 18 (.9%). The rest of the results appear to be pretty evenly spread from 6' 7" to 6' 9". Soldier - another player that will benefit from no injury penalty here. High end is 7', and there are 4 - 39 (1.4%), 37 (4.2%), 28 (1.9%), and 17 (1.4%). The low end is 6' 6" on 16 (1.9%). There are a few 6' 7" results, but the high probability rolls seem to fall between 6' 9" and 6' 11". Gunner - WATCH OUT - your current leader could really stretch his advantage here. The high is 7' 5" with that outcome on: 34 (8.3%) and 33 (6.9%). There are also quite a few 7' 4" results. All in all there are 13 of the 30 rolls greater than 7'. The low end is 6' 8" and there are 2 - on 26 (3.7%) and 24 (5.6%). The is one 6' 9" outcome, and 8 results of 6' 10 or better. Elli - another 7' max, but his probabilities may be better than most of the others at that height. He has 7' outcomes on 16 (1.9%), 27 (2.8%), and 35 (8.3%). The low end is 6' 5" on a 31 ( 4.2%). There are quite a few results of 6' 6" including one of 35 (8.3%) and several others spread from 6' 7" to 6' 10". Cat - not doing well in the standings and coming into an event that he doesn't perform well - is going to put a lot of pressure on Cat. 6' 10" is the max - the good news is 1 of them is sitting on 36 ( 5.6%). Others are on 39 (1.4%) and 22 (3.7%). The low end is 6' even and it is on 30 (2.8%). After 6' - the next lowest is 6' 2" on 26 (3.7%). There are several 6' 3" outcomes - the most common outcome appears to be 6' 4". There is a nice 6' 9" outcome on 35 (8.3%). Nights - is an A level card, but drew bad luck when the card was created. The high end is 7' 4" on 31 (4.2%), 27 (2.8%), and 18 (.9%). There are quite a few results over 7' (7 to be exact) and eight that are 7' exactly. The low end is 6' 7" on 39 (1.4%). The bad luck I referenced above comes from the layout of his card in the 30s. On 32 (5.6%) it's 6' 8" on 34 (8.3%) it's 6' 10" on 35 (8.3%) it's 6' 10" on 37 (4.2%) it's 6'9", on 38 (2.8%) it's 6' 9" on 39 (1.4%) it's 6' 7". The good news is the mid 20's are all 7' or greater and 33 (6.9%) is 7' 2". Last edited by Breeze : 08-23-2005 at 09:30 AM. |
