Down 24-12 and stymied on the ground to the tune of 30 total yards for the game, Tennessee looked to be in trouble as the clock wound under 5:00 to go. Then the game got a little crazy. The Volskicked a 60 yard FG with 2:28 to play. A successful onside kick gave Tennessee the ball right back and they scored a TD 2 plays later to make the score 24-22 Georgia, with 2:10 to go. The Vols kicked deep and Georgia then fumbled on the first play, but Tennessee fumbled right back. Tennessee stopped the 'Dawgs and, from the Georgia 44 threw a 33 yard pass. 2 plays later a 28 yard FG gave the Vols a wild win.

It took forever, but the Gamecocks prevailed in 5 OTs today. Kentucky tied the score with :34 seconds left in the game to start the fun. The teams traded TDs the first 2 Ots and each scored again in the 3rd but failed on the 2-point conversion. In the 4th OT, each scored a TD again and this time the tries for 2 were good. Kentucky started the 5th OT on offense. On their second play, Southies intercepted to get a shot at a win. On 3rd down, Carolina scored the winning TD on a reverse to win a great game.

And so Tennessee, and FOFCer Larry McGill, end the regular season as the only perfect team in the country and #1.

Who will they play in the National Championship game???

We only played nine games? Oh well, I still tore it up. I am going the #1 team and will have the best career of anyone. Eat your heart out Michigan!

At least 3 of the 4 Horsemen will be stepping out of the luxury suites and onto the field next year.

Michigan will no longer lose a game. Ever.

This was, unfortunately for Tennessee, just one of those days that things go as planned- up to a point. The Vols had more FDs, more total yards, less turnovers, few penalties, held Penn State to 22 Yards rushing…and still lost as the Nittany Lions hung around to make the plays they had to make. State trailed the entire way until tying the game, 21-21, with a TD at the 4:06 mark. The Lions then held the Vols and forced a punt, taking over at their own 29 yardline. 6 plays and 53 yards later, Penn State was at the Tennessee 18 yardline, kicking a game winning 35 yard FG to win the game.

There are better days ahead for Tenneseee. Tim Brice does not fumble. Tim Brice does not drop a pass. Everytime Tim Brice touches the ball, Tim Brice is going for 60 yards. Tim Brice will start as a true freshman. Tim Brice does not play games. Tim Brice thought about hiring an agent and going straight to the NFL draft.

The Player of the Year: 2006

For the first time, we have a PotY winner who is also the Offensive PotY, though the runner-up, Louisville R.S. Sophomore QB Arnold Mills, seemed to this voter the better choice.

Mills received 114 votes while our winner received a record 144 votes.

The Player of the Year award goes to R.S. Senior QB Darrin Fine from USC.

Congratulations!!

Final Rankings, 2006:

This is really strange. Penn State beats Tennessee in the title game (they do show State as the winner on the champs trophy page) but Tennessee is voted #1 to end the year. Penn State even has a tougher SoS. One of the Computer rankings has Penn State 14th.

Tim Brice is going to play for the National Champions. Tim Brice promises that as long as he is there, Tennesse will not lose a game. Just give Tim Brice the football. Tim Brice says the ony reason everyone voted Tennssee number one is because they signed Tim Brice and the pollsters wanted to get a head start for next year. Tim Brice says if Anchorange would have signed Tim Brice, they would be #1.
