I ain't reaing through them all, so this may be listed, but I just drafted a "Laughing Larry Sinclair QB, Southern Miss."
He is not very good, but I took him in the third round because of his name.

My Pac-10 challenge forced me to pass on tightend Sammy Davis (not Jr.). I thought he was a real cool cat.
In the previous one, I couldn't sign wr Leo Branch to go along with QB Leo Branch. Would've given me the following sentances on my play log: Quote:
or something like that.

Yeah, but did he bust? That symmetry in the top two lines scares me. |

Oakland drafted him in the third round (I would have taken him (even with the risk) earlier but I run a 3-4 and already have my rubn stopper in the middle. Pre camp 2018 his ratings are: 50/82, 40/77, 29 (guess he is a little fat). His first season was decent: 16 GS, 32t, 14asst, 3.5 sacks so I guess he didn't bust

Allen Allen was the real name of a volleyball star on the UH Men's Volleyball team in the early 90s when the Poppinga brothers were at UH too. Volleyball (men's and women's) is actually the most popular arena collegiate sport in Hawaii and sells out the 10,000 seat Stan Sheriff Arena on a regular basis. No joke. Opposing teams love coming to Hawaii to play because they never get crowds at home (for example UCLA in Pauley Pavilion will draw perhaps 2500 even in seasons where they are defending national champions and ranked #1). ------------------ The 64 Dollar Question: What *is* The FOF Journal? I just saw an undrafted rookie free agent QB named Terminator Woodard in the draft.
He was really bad though - couldn't get myself to pick him up just for his name...

QB Russell Compton (I just like the last name)
WAY back in the day on the original Front Page Sports: Football Pro (before they started putting years at the end of it) I had a WR named Mahogany Jones and a TE named Sven Svappington. SKD

On my West Palm Beach dynasty, I had a cb, and a running-back, from the same home-town, same last name, same high school, same height, and a tiny difference in height. I guess they were twins. Their last name was O'Neil, or O'Donnell, or some O' something. It was cool, they both started and got 3.8 GPA's.

Now that FOF4...with a player editor...is about to be released, I thought it might be a good time to remember this thread and its predecessor at the old Sideline.
I bought the original FOF and played the hell out of it. I found my way to the Sideline board in the early days of its existence, but mostly lurked. When FOF2 was released, I refused to buy it, as Digital River did not inspire confidence. I continued to play FOF1 and to visit the Sideline often. My memories of the Sideline are good ones. I remember being impressed with the quality of discourse the game and on a wide range of other topics. But the one thread that really made me jealous of those playing FOF2 was the Names Thread. I remember laughing so hard at some of the names that were popping up for some folks. Everyone got bored with this names thread eventually, and with the new FOF's player editor, it is unlikely that people will be posting many funny names here in the future. Anyway, just thought it might be fun to remember some of our past favorites...like the stud linebacker I once drafted, Rex Cherry. |

The best name I can recall off the top of my head was a center from 'Bama named Pickpocket Coles.
The best player I ever had on my teams was a four-time league MVP at RB named Robert "Bobby" McGhee out of Ohio State. I won 3 SBs with that guy. He wound up with 13,000 yards rushing and something like 140 TDs. |

In my TCY Georgia Tech Dynasty, I have a Tackle named Snackbar Longhenry. Snackbar is just an awesome name for a lineman. And Longhenry is just damn funny. But the two together made him a definite priority on my recruit list.
6'6" 278 lbs. Run Blocking 11/63 Pass Blocking 20/97 Endurance 100 He is a redshirt sophomore from Prospect Heights high school in Brooklyn, New York. Unfortunately he probably won't see much playing time until later in his career since I already have two stellar Tackles. |

I love Touchdown Dupree ... great name ... Ferrets are notorious crooks, that's why I thought it was strange that the name was randomly generated

Just started playing FOF4, I'm getting addicted pretty quickly. In my second season with the Bills, I saw this name in the transaction log before the season:
Franz, Dennis I'll have double check to see what position he is and try to get a screenshot of his stats.

Just last night in TCY I came across an outside linebacker from Albuquerque, New Mexico named Rattler Leandri. He also has bitchin' stats after four games, something like 49 tackles, 6 sacks, 3 INTs. Even though he is a "red" recruit, I gotta have him.
This might be my favorite TCY name ever, at least that I've encountered.

Just saw another good one in a recent draft, a top notch TE (his stats his rookie year were already superb) with the name "Bob Ballew". I wonder if his parents were Desi Arnaz fans.

While playing TCY, I recruited a stud running back named Norm Peterson. He did really good as a freshman, then as a sophomore, he led Grand Rapids to a national title over Michigan -- in the THIRD YEAR of Grand Rapids' existence! And where was I? Enjoying a 3-8 season in my new job at Troy State. Cheers!
And just recently, while playing as the Bears, I drafted a quarterback in the 5th round who I thought might develop, Ronald McDonald. I've stopped playing that career, so it might be a while before I see how he develops. |
