If I was on the show I'd act all fake-excited to see my family just so I wouldn't be the one heartless douche that wasn't doing it.

Reading this thread makes me want to fire the episode back up just to watch Dawn's reaction to Brenda's choice again.

Yup. Back in season 1, granted it was just a video and the family members were not there live, but NOBODY cried except Jenna, who didn't get her video (understandable). It has definitely intensified as seasons have gone by, and I really do think some people are playing it up so as not to stand out in an asshole-y sort of way (i.e. Brian in Thailand -- then again, he won).

Then, of course, Jonny Fairplay had a brilliant idea to plan way in advance to use the family visit for manipulation. At that point we had just come off a season with a winner whose mom had cancer (Jenna Morasca) and I'm convinced he was inspired by that. I think it would have worked if Fairplay could act worth a shit, and if he hadn't been playing with the best reader of people in Survivor history (Sandra).

In summary... yeah, it's silly, but it's accepted now. I'm sorry, I get they're under a lot of stress, but the whole collapsing to the ground and heaving sobs is just dumb, I don't need to go out into the jungle for 39 days to be able to say that.

So this season was taped last summer? When was the fall season taped?

That wait to see who won must have really sucked.

My understanding is they tape back to back in the same location... so the fall season mid may/june/early july and the winter season mid july/august/start of September. Something like that?

If she's about to give birth that would mean around mid August for when they got back. Unless one of the guys knocked her up at Ponderosa.

She didn't seem close to any of the guys. Maybe a camera man knocked her up during the season.

Saw somewhere that this season was actually taped last May-June. That's a long wait to see who won.

Cochran is the 3rd unanimous winner after Earl in Fiji and JT in Tocantins. Cochran also joins JT in being the only people to have no votes for the entire game and get all votes at the final tribal council.

really? because I thought it was pretty clear that it was going to be a landslide. once he won immunity he had this in the bag (and he knew it too). he just had to decide whether to bring Dawn or Eddie. He would have won either way, but Eddie may have grabbed a couple of votes.

They editing at final tribal made it seem like Dawn had a shot but she never did. I don't even think it was about the way she played. I think people didn't want to give her their vote because she was such an emotional mess the whole time. If I was Dawn I would have told Brenda to go fuck herself, she had to know she wasnt getting that vote regardless.

Sherri telling Eric off was pretty awesome also, I think she had just had enough and Eric happened to be the one asking the questions at the time.

I'm glad for Cochran, he played an awesome game and deserved it.

Maybe the reason I don't give Cochrane a lot of credit is because of the absolute trainwrecks he was playing with. Outside of the short lived trio of bro there was nothing in this season for me. Just a bunch of doofuses and personality vacuums. If they bring back any Hantz or anyone who stood out because they were 'controversial', I'm done.

I think CBS is done with the Hantz's since they banned both Brandon and Russell from the reunion. They actually had a picture of Russell at the security station to make sure he didn't get in the audience.

The season as I understand it will be one tribe of returning players. The other tribe will be family members of those returning players. Should make for some interesting strategy. What do you do if your family member gets voted out premerge? Do you blindside your parent/spouse/sibling?

I'm trying to find a full cast list, but Rob Cesternino, Rupert, Kat Edorsson, and Gervase are apparently there.

Russell was pissed at Brandon being banned and blamed it on Phillip. He was posting vaguely threatening tweets, wondering where Phillip was.

I'm trying to find a full cast list, but Rob Cesternino, Rupert, Kat Edorsson, and Gervase are apparently there.

Rob Cesternino in particular is tricky because he has done a very prominent Survivor podcast for years, but podcasts about lots of other things as well. He podcasts about as often as he breathes, so any layoff will be very suspect. He's been talking about wanting to take a hiatus from the podcast lately.

Then, last night, with suitcases in the background, he and his wife Nicole (also rumored to be on S27) announce that they are moving to a bigger apartment because she is pregnant. And while they move, they won't be podcasting or even have any internet access for a few weeks (!). And he made sure to say that, when they return, the podcasting studio at the new apartment will look just like the old one, so video viewers won't notice any difference. Yeahhh. Okay.

99% sure we are starting S27 with a pregnancy lie. I really hope Rob does well, I've wanted to see him play again for so long but I'd hate to sacrifice a season of the podcast (mostly the reason I still watch Survivor) just for him to get bounced pre-merge.

I'm not that upset about Colton. I hated him but it was obvious they'd bring him back at some point. I am upset that Rob C. might not be there.

The two returnees that bother me most are Rupert and Tyson. We don't need to see Tyson for a 3rd time and definitely don't need Rupert for a 4th time. I've always been puzzled by his fan favorite status. Rupert is a horrible strategic player, as evidenced by his last two seasons and his awful tweets this season (after Brenda was voted out, he was saying Sherri would win if she made it to F3 because it was a jury full of fans). He was also misogynistic prick, especially with his treatment of Jerri during the shelter building debacle in All-Stars.

The rest are good. I'm happy to see some more early season returnees. Skupin proved they can do pretty well.

Interesting. This site's list is identical aside from Rob C in place of Colton.

Survivor: Blood VS Water Pictures of Cast

Edit: Oh. I originally looked at this last night and just noticed they updated it to say that Colton and his boyfriend had apparently replaced Rob C and his wife.
