Correct me if I'm wrong, but hasn't he referred to them as Aunt Robyn and Uncle Barney?

Yeah, but that does not imply that they are married to each other. He also refers to Aunt Lilly and Uncle Marshall. I think that his kids just, as I did as a kid, refer to close friends of my parents as Aunt and Uncle instead of Mr. and Mrs. |

But it does imply that he (Ted) is not married to Robyn.

course it's TV, they could just pull the "Barney marries someone else named Robin" thing.
And I think from the look on Ted's face at the end of the episode there, he's definately not over Robin. There's more to come with that whole two-some. |

But none of them are related to Ted, making the whole aunt uncle thing only plausible if they use it to refer to close friends. Trying to take it literal in one sense, while ignore the other fairly large piece, kind of negates reason.

I thought those were Barney's kids, not Ted's.

2030 Ted (Saget) refers to them as Uncle Marshall and Aunt Lilly, and we know that they are still married in 2030. Since he also says Uncle Barney and Aunt Robin, are we to insinuate that they are also married in 2030?

How does calling them uncle and aunt make them married to each other?... I'm really confused about what you are trying to assume. |

I thought the only assumption was that Ted is not married to Robin, but maybe I am misinterpreting.

If my memory serves me right there have been three people that have assumed that because Ted says "Uncle Barney" and "Aunt Robin" that this means they are some how mysteriously married to each other in the future! |

I'm with DanGarion here, I know my kids call all of our good friends Uncle or Aunt. Older-Ted using those terms is more likely meant in that manner than an actual marriage.

Something just hit me...
Could it be that Saget is actually the uncle to the kids he's talking to in 2030? He is married to Robin and therefore she is Aunt Robin. Now that I think about it, I don't think I can come up with something that would make that work though. |

It's not called How I Met My Wife. The kids don't have to be his.

I think it depends on how the timing lines up with filming. I don't think they'll make Lilly and Marshall have a baby, though. Or at least, they shouldn't.

why shouldnt they? It's the next logical progression. Allthough I think this shows shelf life is getting short. Segal's movie career is taking off, Hannigen is having a baby and NPH always has other projects going on. |

I'd like them to go into this season with the idea that this is the final year or at the least, next year will be.

Why not? Having the reveal being that Ted is the kids' uncle would be a horrible move and likely to be widely panned.

I think that is a good run for a sitcom. If they want to drag it out beyond jumping the shark, they could still get a season or two with Ted and Mom being together. Better yet, fast forward to 2030 and show life with Bob Saget, Mom and the kids.

I think the biggest issue with bringing a baby into the mix is that so much of the show involves them hanging out with one another at McClarins. They would need to explain why Lily and Marshall didn't spend a lot of their free time taking care of the baby. Basically, the baby would probably get in the way of more interesting stuff. |

When they showed Stella and Ted's "kids" they had blond hair, just like Stella Obviously there are tons of brunettes that they could link up with Ted, but this story line is getting similiar to that of Friends and how Ross And Rachel were going to end up together in the final episode.

Or they could find a way to try to sneak the baby into the bar . Wouldn't Lily and Marshall moving to the new apartment have issues with meeting at McClarins anyway, though?

Having a baby would ruin the show, unless they pulled a Ross and Rachel and the baby just... disappeared.

Yeah, I thought last night's episode was a poor way of ending the Stella storyline. I can't see anyone having such little emotion about what just happened to him, nor can I imagine anyone being dumped right before the wedding never even talking to that person again.

I thought it was a decent epsiode. I mean if you had Ted moping around, it would have gotten a bit old (I mean we had that with Marshall when Lily left). The stories about who all the others would like to avoid were great (Robin Charles, LOL; and Barney's conjugal visit buddy), and in the end Ted lets his anger go, because he's a nice guy. Normal ep, I'd say.

I hope that this show shapes up soon, as it has been kind of down this season and it was on the cusp of being cancelled last season. If not, I hope they have an endgame in the works for this year.

Pretty blah episode I thought, not worth the 30 minutes I took off from work to watch it. They had to wrap up the plot point I guess, but the side stories weren't enough to have me laughing much.

Cheerleader effect, FTW!
Though I loved Barney half crying/half singing "Cats in the Cradle" at the end, holding the sock.
