I got ground down like a redheaded stepchild for that rpediction. HAH thats all I have to say. HAH!

ok one more time

Well, this season sucked for Chiefs fans, but it was fantastic to see them send the Bronco players home crying. Love it.

Oh, and I'm guessing that no one including myself will ever spell Jamaal Charles incorrectly again. Love seeing him knock Larry Johnson out of our franchise record book.

I know if I had a vote for MVP it would go to Favre. I don't even know if the Vikings make the playoffs with Jackson or Rosenfels at QB, let alone the 2 seed.

but most likely it goes to Brees or Manning. I have no problem with that either. Just seeing what Favre did this year at his age was amazing. Everyone thought he would fail towards the end of the season, which he really didn't. He didn't have the greatest december, but it was still damn good, and still led them to the 2 seed.

crazy I used to hate hate hate Favre, but I think he was the most valuable this season.

Vikings are still probably an 8 or 9 win team, Colts without Peyton Manning would be lucky to win 5 games.

I'm gonna gives the chiefs some credit at this point. Yes they sucked ass this season, but there is some real talent on that team. If they can get a few more pieces of the puizzle and the coaching staff gets a clue they could get good very quickly.

Colts without Peyton would be lucky to win A game this season. Without that QB that team is terrible.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. The Vikings without Favre won 10 games last year. This year they won 12. So Brett Favre today is all of two games better than Gus Frerotte and Tarvaris Jackson. It's not like the Vikings were a 6-10 team that Favre has taken 15-1.

If you put Brett Favre on the Colts, that is probably not a playoff team.

a game?

Even without Manning they are quite a bit better than the bottom tier teams. 7-9 wins Id guess.

The Colts do play some defense and they do have an offensive line capable of blocking.

Who's calling the plays for the non-playoff colts? Childress?

Unless it was Childress calling the plays I feel very confident Favre could lead the Manningless Colts to the playoffs.

With that said I do think Manning is the MVP.

yikes. I tried to make my mvp post as non biased and controversial as I could. lol. that worked I just think it was amazing what he did at the age of 40, and I was saying this year, I said nothing about last year. yea they won 10 games last year, but I don't think they would of won 10 games without him this year, imo. yea they improved by 2 games, but no one will ever really know if Favre is only 2 games better, but if there was some way we could prove it, I'd bet on more than 2.

I also think you put Brett Favre on the Colts with those receivers?!? Brett is in heaven! he has a great core in Minn, but its also a great core in Indy. Wayne, collie, Garcon are pretty damn solid. Not to mention Gonzalez if he didn't get hurt.

I guess I stand corrected about Boston fans not being pissed about this.

It happened on the FIRST possession. Who sits out their starters for the entire game? Even Jim Caldwell didn't do that.

wtf man, the guy hurt himself making a damn cut that could have happened in practice. Of all injuries, that one was the one that other than sitting the whole damn team out could not be avoided...

I'm as pissed as any Pats fan right now, but seriously BB isn't to be blamed on that one...

FM

edit: to add I'm pissed about him being injured, Welker is one of my favorite Pats, but nobody's to blame for it.

Another great stat:

Out of all starting RBs Who had the best yards per catch (not carry)?

Adrian Peterson mostly only known for his running, he really really improved his receiving out of the backfield this season.

Manning makes his receivers look better then they are. There's a reason it doesn't matter when someone gets hurt and a replacement comes in. Wayne is the exception, he is very good.

Here is the post I was looking for, and since there is a huge Al following, I don't care if it's out of place here:

Quote:

We're Harvard Monday - Friday and USC on Weekends. Some of our more prominent alumni

include David Stern, commissioner of the NBA, Calista Flockhart, James Gandolfini.

Let me share with you, some reasons why I think Rutgers is the slam dunk candidate

for Big X Membership.

* World Class Academics combined with a strong football program

Like PSU, we have a serious commitment to academics while maintaining a strong

football program. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if a number of components of our

football program were duly influenced by Coach Schiano's experience at PSU.

I think Coach sees JoePa as one of his most important mentors, along with Butch

Davis.

Thanks to his mentorship under those two great coaches, Coach S. has been able

to build a model football program.

This past year, our football team was either top 5 or top 3 in APR.

Yet we have sent our share of players to the draft. Ray Rice the running back for the Ravens

is probably our most successful recent alumnus, in terms of production. But Gary Brackett,

linebacker and defensive captain for the Colts and Shawn O'Hara the leader of the Giants

offensive line have grabbed super bowl rings in recent years. I'm proud of the fact that they

are among the most articulate players in the NFL. When I met Ray, when he was a freshman,

at our football banquet, he was extremely shy and reserved. Now, he's like Mr. Personality,

coming across as confident and amiable.

Their success shows that we are not only developing great gridiron warriors, but also the leaders of tomorrow. Motorola a while ago named alumnus Greg Brown, Co CEO, and this fall, he made a very significant

donation, which helped us to build our recruiting lounge in the southern endzone of the stadium.

For now, our players graduate and we send our share to the draft. In due course, there's no doubt in my mind, that we'll eventually be putting National Championship trophies in our trophy case.

In fact, I have Rutgers ranked #1 going into 2010, as we're going to be more loaded than Fort Knox.

This year was a learning season, where our true freshmen got their feet wet. Our qb Tom Savage, had his ups and downs, but seemed to improve as the season wore on. He should be much better next season, thx to experience. Someday, he will be some NFL teams franchise quarterback. He is complemented by Mohamed Sanu, who figures to be a Heisman trophy candidate by his senior year.

* World Class Facilities

I've seen facilities at Miami, having gone to graduate school there, Virginia Tech, and Florida, and pictures
of facilities at other schools and based on my experiences, I feel our S&C facilities are up there with the best. They were designed by our S&C Coach, S&C Coach of the year in 2007, who studied Mechanical Engineering at Bucknell. They were built with an empasis on efficiency so that players could get the most from their workouts. For me, our S&C room is like Star Wars, as advanced technology is used to help
our players maximize their time.

Our football stadium was rebuilt from the ground up in 1994, and this past year, expansion led to its current capacity of around 53K. The stadium can scale to around 80K., and is one of the most exciting
venues to be in for a football game. I'm sure if significant modifications were made, we could get
to 100K for Rutgers Stadium.

The living and dining facilities that football players use on the Busch Campus are among the finest
in the world. Actually, the players have a training table, but i'm not sure if everyone uses it, or just some.

* Coaching Stability

Coach Schiano has been at Rutgers for close to 10 years now, and I am unable to fathom him leaving
because the Rutgers Coaching job is simply the best job in the world.
-Most of the talent he recruits is within a three hour drive
-Gets to travel by helicopter at times
-Has a generous salary
-Has all the perks that supestar coaches get
-Has his dream home which he had built provided to him by the University
-Has all the support of the athletic director, univesity president, and the present governor of the state of NJ
-fanbase has reasonable expectations
* Proximity to Big Ten Alumni
-Many Big Ten alumns work in New York City so playing at Rutgers would give Big Ten Schools additional
opportunities to reach out to their NYC alumni

* Large Alumni Base
-Our alumni base is closing in on 400K, and for many years, has been dormant, but thats starting to change with football success.
* Proximity to NYC
the most exciting city in the world, is but a 40 minute train ride from Rutgers
* Excellent NYC TV ratings
Rutgers has the highest NYC ESPN TV rating, achieved in 2006 against Louisville
* NJ recruiting exposure
Lots of underrated football talent in NJ. don bosco hs was recently named the #1
football program in the nation after St. Thomas Aquinas of south florida lost
* Land Grant institution just like most of the big 10 schools
* Top notch research
Antibiotics such as penicillin were discovered by Dr. Waxman. There have
also been more recent innovations, but I can't remember what they are.
Rutgers would add much to the already strong Big X research consortium
* Growing fanbase
Season ticket sales have grown around 15%, since 2004, compounded annually
Given these growth rates, Demand for Rutgers tickets should be around 100K by 2025
* Rutgers/PSU Rivalry > OSU/Michigan Rivalry
Previously when our teams played it wasn't a rivalry, it was more like a slaughter, as our
administration wasn't serious about fielding a top notch football team. Over the past five
years, they've demonstrated their commitment to fielding a world class football team,
spending upwards of $150 million on faciltiies, support, etc. The President of our school
is as big a football fan as any of us, and he understands the value that a good college football
program can bring to the university.
* Big X would have another team that could beat USC and the SEC
Recruiting NY/NJ/MD/Pa/Ct/DE/Va/Sc/FL has allowed Rutgers to improve on its talent base year after year.

These characteristics generally typify Rutgers players: They're personable, they're motivated, they're strong, and they can run. That why in 2010, we'll have a team that can beat USC. Our team speed will be second to none. I only hope our level of execution is at the same level as well.

Well those are the reasons, I came up with. I'm sure there are more. I'm looking forward to our Big X invite and tailgating with y'all someday.

Have a Happy Holidays.

Yeah it really is hard to know. Last year they could run the ball and were very good at it with a below average QB.

Why having Favre(other than the loss of Birk) would make them so much worse on the offensive line is a hard one to figure out.

All things being equal(not being able to run ball like last year) I agree that the Vikings were a 6-7 win team this year w/o Favre.

Yeah good for Johnson and the nay sayers when he was drafted from wherever?
I never imagined he would be this good. I just hope Fisher don't pulla fucking Bum Phillips and burn the kid out like Bum did with the "Tyler Rose" back in the late 70s early 80s. Also, Fisher should send a thank card to both Johnson and Vince Young for just about seemingly saving his job. That is not to say he doesn't resign after the owner making him out Young in after starting 0-6.

Yesterday in the Papa John's bowl when they called South Carolina the USC of the East I figured Al died a little bit.

For someone to stay in character as long and as well as he does is amazing. The videos he posted of himself just walking around looking at the remodeled stadium are gold.

So true.

To top it off, my wife's mother fell and shattered her arm tonight. My wife is hanging out with her at hospital and will be there tomorrow when they operate, thus spoiling (or at least delaying her birthday plans for me tomorrow.)

Edit: Even though we never formalized our bet, if you are ever in town (New Orleans or Baton Rouge) and want to go out to dinner, I'd be glad to treat you to a good meal.

So barring an epic collapse in the 2nd half, three of the four games next week will be rematches, jets/bengals, cowboys/eagles, and green bay/arizona. In all three cases, again assuming no changes in the 2nd half,all three games today were dominating blowouts.

Thoughts as to how that impacts the matchups next week? Will Philly and Arizona be more likely to win than usual due to an added desire to erase their week 17 embarrassments?

Id say the Cowboys are at the biggest disadvantage because winning 3 times in a season against the same team is so difficult.

The Cards didnt show a whole lot today so they should battle the Packers to a good one.

It appears the Bengals dont even feel like being on the field right now while the Jets are just physically dominating them. Id give the Jets the advantage in this one next week.

Edit: Even though we never formalized our bet, if you are ever in town (New Orleans or Baton Rouge) and want to go out to dinner, I'd be glad to treat you to a good meal.

Good enough. We can double or nothing this next week. Pretty sure we will see a different Philly team.

Sorry to hear about the accident. Talk about a crummy day.

How are stats like the ones I'm seeing nearly midway through the 3rd qtr in the Bengals-Jets game even possible?

9 yards total offense?
1 first down, and that was by penalty?
And with Palmer, Coles, Ocho, etc. all playing?
WTF? Are they kneeling on every other snap?

The Steelers did it last year against Baltimore.

Both Aikman and Johnston. At least Jay Novacek doesn't do games.

(re: Things being crappy when you expect to win. This is why I've learned to never expect to win. Thought that came with rooting for Philly teams.)

Haha. I stand corrected.

Must be one of them bogus stories the "experts" say just to keep things interesting.

A pattern has emerged which means with absolute certainty that the Cowboys will win the Super Bowl.

Two of the three premier franchises in major American sports have already won championships (Lakers and Yankees).

Kobe winning without Shaq for the Lakers and Yankees winning with ARod being so unclutch for so long. Cowboys will win with Tony Romo becoming a December/January clutch QB superstar performer and Wade Phillips being a playoff coaching mastermind.

The stars are aligned and there is nothing the sporting world can do to stop this trifecta from occuring. Not even Brett Favre.
