Can you imagine what kind of numbers Calvin Johnson from GT could put up if he had a good QB throwing to him? Ball sucks.

I'm down with that. Go WVU strength of schedule! Plus, I have hated UVA since they laid the wood on us at the Tire Bowl a few years ago. |

UW driving, wow. Past midfield with :34 left. Is USC the #2 team even if they hold on?

Yep. Darn that UW RB didn't want to go down. Too bad that he wasted some time for his team. |

Well, Reggie Ball has been coached in a very specific way that affects the completion percentage - there's only been the one sack this game. Reggie is very aware of throwing the ball away rather than taking a sack - if you look at 13-25 completion, and sub in three sacks instead of incompletions, then it's 13-22 which isn't nearly as bad. He's also ran for 84 yards today. |

And even after all of that time, UW didn't snap it in time.

:-P :-D Michael Johnson, DE for Tech comes up with sacks on third and fourth down, and Tech gets the ball back after first and goal. Game over. Whew. Last edited by Celeval : 10-07-2006 at 05:58 PM. |

I have watched him play several games this year. He isnt throwing 50% because of throwing the ball away. He is either hot or cold. For every good play he makes he makes an equally dumb one.

Gotta snap the ball there...wow. They had 30-45 seconds to prepare and they still couldn't snap the ball on time. Sad.

Why did it take the refs so long to start the clock?

Good question. There is no reason that should have happened. Ty even had a chance to call a play in from the sidelines. Oh well, still undefeated. |

Whew indeed. GT plays to the level of the competition once again in the Chump Gailey era & is lucky to survive. But survive they did.

Are the Pac-10 officials always that bad? The receiver clearly went down with 5 seconds left and it takes them 3 seconds to stop the clock? Then they huddle for about a minute before starting the clock without any warnng to UW?

From the replay, the official over the ball wound his right arm as he was backing out, but I guess no one seen it.

In other seasons, I'd generally agree with you about the dumb plays - but he does have a 2/1 TD/Int ratio this season (10/5), and has cut down his dumb plays a lot. The first pick against VT was absolutely horrible, but the second one was not a bad play from Reggie - if you've got Calvin in one-on-one coverage down the sideline, I'd love for him to throw it up more often then not. That said, I don't get ESPN-U and the place we went to to eat and watch didn't get it either (despite us calling in advance to check), so I listened via radio and pretty spotty at that. |

Well good game to the hated horns. OU just couldn't hold on to the ball, and Texas' defense was hitting hard. Colt didn't exactly wow me, but he didn't make any big mistakes either.

Still going to call it that if Tech wins the ACC Coastal this year? 3-0 in conference, with the tiebreaker over the second and third teams (VT, UVA, both with one loss). Nobody else on that side is unbeaten. |

Agreed, the refs screw USC by giving the Huskies a ton of extra time while the clock is stopped and screw Washington just before that by not stopping the clock at 0:05. How is screwing both teams on the same play possible? Is the Pac-10 officiating brutal everywhere? |

Yep. I wouldn't piss on Chan Gailey if he spontaneously combusted before my eyes. Tech wins in spite of that moron, not because of him.

Mostly to Jon Tenuta, the DC. And playing in a conference that ain't what it used to be helps too.

Pac. 10. Refs. Fucking. Suck. Now, to be clear, this isn't a screw-up on the level of the Oregon/Oklahoma game. In that instance, if the refs do their job, Oklahoma has the ball and can run out the clock to win the game. In this instance, if the refs do their job the UW has 4-5 seconds to play with and they get one last play off to try and win the game. No guarantees that the Huskies score, but they should've at least had a chance. All that said, the Huskies had their chances in this game. Yeah, it's nice that they played USC as tough as they did, but they certainly didn't do themselves any favors with their horrible punting game (bad snaps and poor blocking which led to a shanked punt and a blocked punt) and Roy Lewis dropping an interception right in his hands with a lot of daylight in front of him on USC's last field goal scoring drive. I'm proud of the team for playing as well as they did, but it's damn fucking frustrating that they got screwed out of one last play by horrible officiating. |

Joe T. is freaking me out right now. He is looking really good. Longer throws than I thought he could make, and very accurate.

To be honest, this is pretty much exactly what I feared all week. I figured it would be the running game instead of passing & special teams, but the scenario is what I almost expected.
