Campbell (0-0) at #1 Syracuse (0-0) We run away with our opening game of the season, possibly my last. The final score was 96-65. Pryor was the leading scorer today with 20 points. Miles scored 18 and had 11 boards. If we can get that kind of offensive production from him we are going to be very strong. Rosy, Enoch and Davis all scored in double figures as well.
November 20, 2043 Colgate (0-0) at #1 Syracuse (1-0) Another very easy win against Colgate, 96-59. Three of our starters scored over 20 today. Rosy led us with 24, Pryor had 23 and King 20. Kay and Miles each had a dozen rebounds.
November 25, 2043 Long Island (0-0) at #1 Syracuse (2-0) We put up 100 points today in another good win, 100-82. Pryor was the leading scorer with 28 points. Rosy added 22 and Miles had 15. King dished out 13 assists and Kay had 14 boards.
November 30, 2043 #1 Syracuse (3-0) at Idaho (1-3) Not much problems on our first road trip of the year. We win this one 86-73. All 5 starters scored in double figures led by Pryor with 21. Enoch also scored in double figures off the bench.
November Recap
I have done everything I could to save my job. Soft schedule and easier than average road games as well. Top 25

#1 Syracuse (10-0) at Georgetown (7-4) Our first real big test on the road results in our first loss of the season, 77-72. Mitchell and Rosy led us with 14 points each and Pryor had 12. Muller added 10 off the bench.
Our hopes took a blow today as Kay was injured and will miss 5 weeks. Enoch will step into the starting Center spot. January 6, 2044 #24 Notre Dame (8-3) at #1 Syracuse (10-1) We are opening the Big East schedule without our starting point guard and starting center. Today we didn’t need them as we take the 102-88 victory. When we hit the road, we hope to have King back. Mitchell led the way with 19 points today. Pieper came off the bench to put up a double double, with 18 points and 10 boards. Pryor and Rosy scored 15 each and Davis added 11.
January 13, 2044 #1 Syracuse (11-1) at Western Kentucky (8-6) King is able to play, but not at 100%, so we will bring him in off the bench. In a offensive shootout, we come on top, barely, 108-106. Rosy led us in scoring with 26 points. Enoch had 18 as our new starting center. Pryor, Mitchell and King all scored in double figures as well.
The injuries are starting to mount up. Just as King gets back, we lose Pryor for 3 weeks. January 16, 2044 Duke (5-8) at #1 Syracuse (12-1) We step back out of conference to host the Blue Devils. We send them home with a 78-62 loss. Miles was player of the game for his 16 point, 14 rebound performance. Rosy had 15 points and Mitchell had 10 filling in for Pryor at SG. Enoch had 13 points and 10 boards today.

#17 Temple (19-8) at #1 Syracuse (23-3) A top 25 teams comes into the Dome today and leaves with a 30 point beating, 108-78. We are ready for the postseason right now. King led us on offense with 27 points. Miles had 17, Rosy 16 and Pryor had 10. Pieper added 11 off the bench and Kay had 15 boards.

Post Season
We are awarded the #1 seed in the East Region! The AD expects me to reach the final four. If I do, my job should be safe. But if I don’t? How far do I have to go to get another year here? There is all the pressure in the world on this NCAA run. March 18, 2044 (1) #1 Syracuse (25-5) vs. (16) St. Peter’s (18-13) We open up the tournament with an easy win, 108-71. We know this was almost a gimme game though. Rosy led us with 32 points. Pryor added 23 in the winning effort.
March 20, 2044 (1) #1 Syracuse (26-5) vs. (8) Illinois State (21-10) We move on to the Sweet Sixteen with a relatively easy 90-75 victory today. King led us to the win with 19 points today. Rosy had a great day with 14 points and 11 boards.
March 25, 2044 (1) #1 Syracuse (27-5) vs. (4) #8 Brigham Young We are 2 games from saving my job, and 4 from the ultimate goal. This is going to be a real test against a top 10 team. We played soft and fell behind early. Try as we might to fight back, we could not get over the hump and lose this one 99-83. The season ends and I await my fate.
Final Four #2 Detroit #1 Iowa #5 Memphis #2 Maryland Memphis wins the Title with a 92-77 win over Detroit. San Francisco wins the NIT Title. We are waiting with baited breath here. If you do get fired, though, please stay off the sauce this time. I know you will retire from coaching. Maybe you could get a nice gig at ESPN.

Coast to coast #1, including many weeks as the unanimous #1 team. Very impressive. Sorry about the loss though.
If they fire you, they're crazy. Recruiting great players and fielding one of the best teams in the nation year after year should account for something. Where's the loyalty? |

Surely you must have checked to see if you are still working at SU. I can only assume the depression from the firing was too much.

That's what I am afraid of. Do you think he may have done himself in?
I am holding out hope that it is like a letter that you are afraid to open from the IRS, college acceptance board, or your boss. There may be something good in there, maybe bad. He has just been afraid to check his e-mail yet. |

Should be interesting. When your goal is the final four, the main way to really hurt yourself would be to completely miss the tourney. This season most likely wouldn't hurt your standing with the AD but you may have already been in the range where it is possible to be fired for missing the goal. It will probably hinge on the patience level of the AD.
I can't see a regular coach getting fired in this situation so I made a couple tweaks to the firing AI just to be sure. I think as a minimum you would be given another season to reach the goal, especially after being named conference coach of the year.

Off Season Procedures
Fired. I decide to take the head coaching job at North Carolina State and continue this dynasty. Their prestige level is at 76, not a huge drop from Syracuse. They play in the ACC still. I have to hire a whole new coaching staff, and here they are: Eli Charest is our recruiting coach, he is rated 70. Maynard Hinton is our scout and he is rated 73. Abraham Rivera is our assistant, and he is rated 70 on offense and 49 on defense. We are invited to the San Juan Classic as the #1 seed and accept the invitation. We have 10 other openings on our schedule, 7 of which can be home games. We schedule the following teams for this year: New Orleans Coastal Carolina Syracuse Hartford Colgate Florida Atlantic Albany Cornell Grambling Campbell Recruiting begins and we have 3 scholarships to offer. We get no early recruits. I cut 2 walks ons so I can offer two more scholarships this year.

2044-2045 North Carolina Roster
CENTERS 31 Frederick Cucknill C Sr 6' 9" 247 Barmouth, UK Fred will back up the Center and PF spots. His defense is really incredible, and his rebounding is about average. He does not have a lot of scoring punch though. 13 Kevin Searles C Jr 6' 8" 237 Lake View, SC Kevin gets the start at center and seems to be one of the better players on the team this year. He is a monsters on the boards and well over average on defense and offense. 43 Lionel Hespel C Fr 6'10" 212 Cap Cepet, France This true freshman will help out off the bench but will not see a ton of time this year. POWER FORWARDS 33 Kayetan Leicht PF Sr 6' 7" 207 Kassel, Germany Kayetan is a solid defender and a terrific rebounded. He does not bring much offense to the floor and will have to earn his time off the bench. 4 Joshua Bussey PF Jr 6'10" 216 Blair, NE Bussey gets the start af PF. He is a real scoring machine in the paint and should lead us in scoring in many games this year. His defense is also pretty decent. 35 Dimitri Macquet PF So 6' 9" 229 Lorient, France Dimitri will come of the bench and provide solid rebounding and defense. SMALL FORWARDS 22 Lucas Shivers SF So 6' 6" 202 Virginia Beach, VA Lucas is pretty average all around. He will see some time off the bench. 41 Sammy Mosier SF So 6' 9" 247 Cleveland, OH Sammy is a very similar player to Lucas but will get the start at SF for now. This is clearly our weakest position.. SHOOTING GUARDS 40 Terry Davis SG Sr 6' 3" 205 Laurel, MS Terry is a walk on who will not play. 11 Charles Trevino SG Jr 6' 3" 200 Clayton, NM Charles is another walkon who will not get much time, if any. 20 Robert Rhyne SG Jr 6' 4" 189 Las Cruces, NM Robert is a walk on with average skills across the board. POINT GUARDS 51 Scott Rice PG Jr 6' 1" 180 Grants Pass, OR Scott is a tremendous passing point guard and gets the start there. He also has a nice looking three point shot. 10 Derek Patterson PG So 6' 0" 173 Minerva, OH Derek is more of a PG, but gets the start at SG this year. I am note too sure what to expect out of this team. We have some nice players, but some big holes as well. We are ranked #14 in the preseason.

Campbell (0-0) at North Carolina (0-0) We trip and fall on our faces out of the starting gate with a 78-59 loss at home. SG Derek Patterson led us with 13 points today. SF Mossier and C Searles each added a dozen. We got nothing at all from the bench.
November 20, 2044 Grambling (1-1) at North Carolina (0-1) We get our act together for our second game and take it 88-46. PG Rice led the team in scoring with 25. SG Patterson added 19 points and PF Bussey had 14. SF Mosier chipped in with 11. Searles had 14 rebounds.
November 25, 2044 Cornell (2-2) at North Carolina (1-1) We pick up a 10 point win today at home, 74-64. All of our starters scored in double, figures led by Bussey with 20. Searles scored 10 along with grabbing 12 rebounds.
November 30, 2044 Albany (1-2) at North Carolina (2-1) Our defense makes this an easy win to close out November. The final score was 82-43. Rice led the scoring charge with 20 today. Searles scored 19 with 14 boards and Bussey had 18 with 10 boards.
November Recap PG William McAnally, from Bristol, TN, has committed to UNC. Will is a 4 star recruit and #13 overall. He has all the skills I look for in a PG, a good ball handler and passer, a nice shot to keep defenses honest and good defense.
SF David Morrell, from Charlotte, NC, has committed to UNC. David is a 5 star recruit and #6 overall. He has a great 3 point shot and a decent enough shot from the floor. He has no inside game at all. His rebounding, defense and ball handling skills all project ot be very good, making him a very versatile player.
After an ugly opening game, we seem to be playing pretty decent. Top 25

Yes, it does suck. I have not seen any job offers from any of the other schools I have ever coached so I wonder if I am locked out of ever returning.
I will turn my attention to the Tarheels (who I am pretty opinionless on in real life, probably even leaning towards not liking them) and see if I can surpass Syracuse and win a title down here in the south.

Florida Atlantic (1-2) at #15 North Carolina (3-1) We barely get by this week, but a win is a win. The final score was 61-58. Searles saved us with his 13 point, 20 rebound performance. Rice led us in scoring with 15.
December 10, 2044 #15 North Carolina (4-1) at Colgate (1-4) Colgate was riled up for an upset here against their old ball coach, but we scrape by and put an end to their party with a 85-83 victory. Bussey was the game’s leading scorer with 26 points today. Patterson added 16 and Cucknill had a dozen off the bench.
We move up to #9 in the poll.s I am not sure we are really that good though. December 15, 2044 Hartford (3-4) at #9 North Carolina (5-1) Hartford comes into the Dean Dome, and once again I beat up on my old friends. The final score was 90-76. Patterson was our leading scorer with 19 points. Rice had 19 and Mossier added 16. Searles had 14 boards for us today.
Mid Month Recap
Still no losses since opening day, but we have a huge, huge game coming up on Sunday. Top 25

UNC isn't a bad place to land. Looking back, you originally said NCSU, but that was probably just the despair talking. It is a shame, though, that you couldn't go back to Oklahoma with your top recruiting class finishing up (if they didn't leave early).

Not to threadjack, but since HR seems to be reading this thread.
I haven't bought the game yet (no time), but I'm wondering if you are going to implement some sort of middle setting for conference switching. It seems too weird to see Iowa in the ACC and other anamolies. Maybe something like having a few fixed conferences (Ivy, in particular) and limited movement otherwise. I love the idea of conference switching - I just don't know if I'd like it to happen so frequently.

#5 Syracuse (8-1) at #9 North Carolina. New Orangeman coach Scott Eicher leads all my recruits into my new arena today for a top 10 showdown. Scott has been an assistant coach for many year until recently taking over the Creighton and Boston University jobs. The game was very intense the whole way, and very close until just the final minute when they hit clutch free throws to put us away, 72-67. A tough loss to swallow, but we will put it behind us and move on. Bussey was our leading scorer with 16 and Searles had 10 points with 11 boards.
We are now ranked #11 in the nation. December 21, 2044 #11 North Carolina (6-2) at Coastal Carolina (9-2) I schedule in a local game here and we take it on the road, 89-74. We had 3 players score over 20 today, led by Rice with 25. Searles had 22 with 9 boards and Mosier had 20 points.
December 23, 2044 #11 North Carolina (7-2) vs. Hofstra (5-3) We head down south to the San Juan Holiday Classic. We are the 1 seed and Hofstra the 8. We advance to the second round with a narrow victory, 79-74. Bussey led us in scoring with 25, but Rice was just as valuable today, scoring 23. Searles continues to get the job down underneath with 13 points and 11 boards.
December 24, 2044 #11 North Carolina (8-2) vs. #2 Detroit (9-0) We draw a pretty tough 4 seed today, and get to test our mettle against our second top 5 team of the year. We come up just a bit short once again, 65-62 was the final, but we have been right in there in both of our big games this season. Rice led us with 22 points and Bussey added 14. Searles had 10 boards.
December 25, 2044 #11 North Carolina (8-3) vs. St. Joseph’s (6-3) St. Joe’s is the 3 seed and we play for 3rd place. We get a nice solid win today to go 2-1 in San Juan. The final was 87-65. Bussey led us to the win with 27 points. Rice, Mossier and Shivers off the bench all scored in double figures, while Searles had 11 boards along with 7 points.
We slip to #16 in the polls. December Recap
We have a very slow first half of January, then start getting into ACC play. Top 25

If I can add to John's point about conference switching.....
I really like the idea, even though the extent of it is not realistic at all. It does make for a fun fake basketball universe. I would like to see some code implemented that keeps teams 'somewhat' regional though, if possible. The frequency does not bother me too much, and really it is not a deal breaker for me since it is an option to turn on and off at the start of a career.

#16 North Carolina (9-3) at New Orleans (6-5) Our guys did a little too much partying down there, but had just enough left in the tank to come out of there with a 73-72 victory. Searles was our leading scorer with 16 today. Bussey was the POTG with 15 points and 13 boards. Patterson added 10 points and Rice had 9 with 8 assists.
We move up to #12 in the polls. After a week with no games we drop to #14. January 11, 2045 #16 Southwest Missouri State (11-2) at #14 North Carolina (10-3) SWMS is surprising everyone they play this year and have risen into the national spotlight. We would hate to be another sportscenter highlight. It is also our ACC opener. Our defense exposes their weaknesses and we roll to a 75-57 victory at home. Rice led us with 22 points today. Mosier, Bussey and Searles all scored in double figures, with Searles also grabbing 11 boards.
January 14, 2045 Duke (5-11) at #14 North Carolina (11-3) Throw the records out the window when these two teams rumble. Each team has had their share of bad luck over the past years lately, and our defense puts on quite a show, handing the Devils an embarrassing 59-38 defeat. That will quickly endear me to the Tarheel faithful! Rice led us in scoring with 16 points while Mosier had 11 and Patterson 10. Searles scored 9 along with 11 boards.
Mid Month Recap We move up to #9 in the polls.
Wake Forest is off to a fast start along with the #1 ranking. We play them next! Top 25

#1 Wake Forest (15-2) at #9 North Carolina (12-3) The Dean Dome is packed and is standing room only as we welcome the #1 team in the nation. The crowd, expecting to see a close one the whole was stunned…..we open an early lead and never look back as we humble them, 79-59! Bussey was our leading scorer with 19 points today. Rice had 18 with 8 assists and 9 boards. Searles scored 8 with 19 huge rebounds!
January 25, 2045 West Virginia (10-6) at #9 North Carolina (13-3) We remain undefeated in conference play, once again thanks to our defense. The final score was 74-54. Bussey led us with 23 points today. Patterson added 13. Rice had 9 points and 10 assists while Searles scored 9 with 12 boards.
Backup SF, Lucas Shivers was injured today. He ruptured his Achilles and will be on the shelf for 267 days. January 28, 2045 #9 North Carolina (14-3) at #1 Wake Forest (16-3) My kids are ready to go in this big game on the road. Wake is pumped up and looking for revenge. We shut them down at our place and they return the favor is a big way, handing us a 88-48 defeat. Bussey had 13 points and 11 boards. Mosier added 11 and Searles had 9 with 12 boards but that is about all we could muster up.
We slip to #10 in the polls. January Recap PG Scott Rice has been suspended for academic reasons for 1 month. That hurts, as we have very little depth in our guard positions. PG Kelvin Rosemond, from Schuylerville, NY, has committed to UNC. Kelvin is a 3 star recruit. He should turn out to be a pretty useful, backup PG for us.
I would love to take full credit for the fine season we are having, but I know I recruited none of these kids. I do think we have a pretty solid recruiting class coming together right now. Top 25

#10 North Carolina (14-4) at Duke (7-14) Duke is really struggling this season and we are more than happy to kick them when they are down. We win this one 71-69 at Cameron Indoor. Bussey carried us in the late stretches with 20 points and 18 rebounds, a spectacular performance. Rhyne, filling in for Rice (Patterson moved to the point) scored 15 and Patterson had 14.
February 4, 2045 Richmond (7-12) at #10 North Carolina (15-4) We pick up a very easy home win today, 86-64. Searles led us ini scoring today with 23 points. Bussey had 19 and Patterson scored 16.
We jump up to #7 in the polls. February 8, 2045 #7 North Carolina (16-4) at #19 Iowa (14-7) Our next two games are a home and home with Iowa. We could live with a split, but a win here means we could very well sweep. We could not get our game on track on the road today and drop this one, 84-69. Rhyne led the team with 24 points. Patterson had 13 assists and Bussey scored 16.
February 11, 2045 #19 Iowa (15-7) at #7 North Carolina (16-5) Iowa comes right back and hands it to us on our court for the season sweep. The final score was 76-60. Those two games hurt. Four of our starters scored in double figures led by Bussey with only 13. Searles scored 11 and had 12 boards.
We slip to #11 in the polls. February 13, 2045 #13 Maryland (16-8) at #11 North Carolina (16-6) This is a big game, we need a win over a ranked opponent. Our defense shows up and leads us to that win, 84-58. Our two big men were dominate today. Bussey scored 23 and had 15 boards while Searles scored 21 with 10 boards.
February 15, 2045 #11 North Carolina (17-6) at #13 Maryland (16-9) Maryland gets their revenge today, handing us a 104-75 loss. Bussey had another big game in the paint with 25 points and 13 boards. Rhyne chipped in with 13, but we struggled to score much more and our defense seemed lost.
Mind Month Recap
We had a rough stretch there, losing 3 of 4 to all ranked teams. Top 25

#11 North Carolina (17-7) at Richmond (7-16) We get a much needed road victory today, by the skin of our teeth, 75-72. Once again we have Bussey to thank for his 23 points. Rhyne added 12 points and this walk on is doing a great job while Rice is out on suspension. Searles added 10 points.
We drop one spot to #12 in the polls. February 22, 2045 #12 North Carolina (18-7) at West Virginia (14-10) A solid 10 point road win today, 77-67. Once again Bussey is playing big. He scored 26 and grabbed 17 boards. Searles added 10 as did Leicht and Davis off the bench.
February 25, 2045 #12 North Carolina (19-7) at #18 Southwest Missouri State (16-8) We get a road win against a top 25 conference opponent. The selection committee loves to see this and so do I. The final score was 76-68. Searles led us in scoring with 19 today. Bussey had 10 with 19 boards. Rhyne scored 15 and Patterson had 13.
We stay ranked #12 this week. February Recap Rice is back from suspension for the stretch run.
We have an outside chance at the top spot in the ACC. Our two remaining games are both against Virginia. Top 25

Virginia (9-16) at #12 North Carolina (20-7) We pick up the easy victory, 94-74 today. Bussey was the game’s leading scorer with 23 points. Patterson added 16, Rice 11 and Rhyne 12. Searles had 12 boards.
We slip to #13 in the polls. March 8, 2045 #13 North Carolina (21-7) at Virginia (10-17) We wrap up the regular season with a solid 83-69 road victory. Rice led the team with 19 points. Patterson added 17 and Searles, Mosier, and Cucknill all scored in double figures as well.
Final ACC Standings
12-4 is a great ACC record, and we earn the 3 seed in the tournament. March 10, 2045 (3) #13 North Carolina (22-7) vs. (6) West Virginia (16-12) I am not sure what the problem was here, maybe we were looking towards the NCAA’s, but we drop this one bad, 72-56. Bussey had 15 to lead us in scoring today.
Wake Forest beats Iowa for the ACC Title. Final Top 25

Post Season
We are awarded the 3 seed in the East Region of the NCAA Tournament! Of interest is Syracuse who earned the 2 seed….. March 17, 2045 (3) #11 North Carolina (22-8) vs. (14) Coppin State (22-9) Coppin State was game, but we just had too much depth and too much talent. We take the first round victory, 82-70. Searles and Bussey each scored 13 to lead us. Searles added11 boards.
March 19, 2045 (3) #11 North Carolina (23-8) vs. (11) Hawaii (20-14) Hawaii knocked off the 6 seed Mississippi State and is a very dangerous team who has won 20 on the year now. Our defense holds them to under 70 which should mean a win for us, and it does today. The final score was 82-67, and we are in the Sweet Sixteen! Bussey was our leading scorer with 20. Rice had 16 and Leicht had 10 off the bench, in just 8 minutes of playing time. Seareles grabbed 14 boards.
March 23, 2045 (3) #11 North Carolina (24-8) vs. (7) Alabama Syracuse choked against ‘Bama and we miss out on what would have been just an awesome game. We need to remain focused as it is obvious Bama can run with the best of them, Syracuse was a top 10 team. Our defense could not keep up with them today and they rolled up 89 points and beat us, 89-75. Searles did all he could, scoring 24 points today.

I agree that the moves should be more regional so that it looks good, but I would like it random, as I like seeing Iowa in the ACC from time to time.
Also, it would be nice if the movement happened every x years instead of set in stone at one year. That way, one bad season does not constitute a drop out of the conference. Also means an extra report to see who's the leading candidate to move up or down... I mentioned this to HR awhile back...wondered if this sounds like a good idea to anyone else. He was open to it, maybe at a later date. |

Syracuse can bite me! They will never make it to a Final Four again. It wll be known as the curse of Marmel!
I am glad that you decided to continue. You should have a great team back at North Carolina next season. How awesome is it that HeavyReign is reading this and tweaking the game based on some of what he reads. That is why I love text sims so much. The guys that make them love their product, listen to their fanbase, and are involved in the community. That is also why Front Office Footbal Central is so awesome to visit every day. |

Off Season
We get a very late recruit, which I cannot provide details for. PG James Brown, from Gladewater, TX, has committed to UNC. Our recruiting class was ranked #4 in the nation. Wisconsin had the #1 ranked class. Our team prestige is up to 80. The AD is satisfied with my performance. I decline both job offers that come my way. A couple of coaches left for head coaching positions, so we have to replace them. Our new scout is Jose Johnson. He is rated 72. Our new assistant is Bo Underwood. He is rated 65 on offense and 46 on defense. We are invited back to the San Juan classic, and accept. We will be the #2 seed. We have 10 games to schedule this season: Penn State Rhode Island Syracuse Cornell Southern St. Louis Indiana State Florida A&M Elon Campbell Recruiting begins and after we cut a couple walk ons, we have 4 scholarships to offer. We get a couple early recruits this season: PF Kevin Tomlin, from Jacksonville, FL, has committed to UNC. Kevin is a 4 star recruit and #33 overall. Rebounding and defense are his strengths.
SG Keith Shorter, from Newberry, SC, has committed to UNC. Keith is a 4 star recruit and #30 overall. He is a terrific shooter from 3 and from the floor. He has some passing skills too.

2045-2046 North Carolina Roster
CENTERS 13 Kevin Searles C Sr 6' 8" 239 Lake View, SC Kevin returns to start at Center for us this year. He is the complete package in the middle. A great scorer, defender and rebounded. I would not be surprised if he is an All-American at the end of the year. 43 Lionel Hespel C So 6'10" 222 Cap Cepet, France Lionel is pretty average and will be used strictly as a part time backup. POWER FORWARDS 4 Joshua Bussey PF Sr 6'10" 227 Blair, NE Bussey returns as our starting PF. The guy is a great scorer and defender. He is not as good on the boards and Serles should be, but will still consistently get 10 or more. 35 Dimitri Macquet PF Jr 6' 9" 230 Lorient, France Dimitri will be our primary backup for the C and PF position. He excels on the boards and at playing defense. SMALL FORWARDS 22 Lucas Shivers SF Jr 6' 6" 205 Virginia Beach, VA Lucas is not a bad backup at SF. He will be fully recovered from the torn Achilles in 2 weeks. He has not improved all that much since the injury though. 41 Sammy Mosier SF Jr 6' 9" 248 Cleveland, OH Sammy was our starter last year, but is relegated to the bench this season. He should see plenty of time though. 12 David Morrell SF Fr 6' 6" 222 Charlotte, NC David is a true freshman and gets the start at SF. He is an amazing scorer from the floor and deadly from 3 point range. His defense and rebounding will help out a lot as well. SHOOTING GUARDS 20 Robert Rhyne SG Sr 6' 4" 190 Las Cruces, NM Robert is our only walk on this year. He has a good shot and performed well when needed last year, but will not get any significant playing time unless we have more injury problems. POINT GUARDS 51 Scott Rice PG Sr 6' 2" 180 Grants Pass, OR Scott will move from the point to starting SG this year. It will be like having two point guards who can shoot the ball on the floor. A deadly lineup. 10 Derek Patterson PG Jr 6' 0" 175 Minerva, OH Derek gets the start at the point this season. He does everything very, very well, and will run our offense like a well oiled machine. 25 James Brown PG Fr 6' 1" 184 Gladewater, TX James should do a great job for us as a true freshman backing up the point and the SG spot. 14 William McAnally PG Fr 6' 3" 215 Bristol, TN Will gets a red shirt. 31 Kelvin Rosemond PG Fr 6' 3" 199 Schuylerville, NY Kelvin gets a red shirt. Note: Our 5 starters from last year are all back this season, although only 4 will be starting this year. Three of our starters are seniors, so this is the year to make a lot of noise. Pre Season, we are ranked #3 in the country! Top 25

Marmel,
What type of offense and defense are you playing and is it different then when you were at the smaller schools. Do you make changes game to game. todd

I always use a balanced offense, not favoring inside or outside. I run a lot of motion and shoot an above average number of 3 pointers. Depending on personal, I increase or decrease the pace.
I usually let the AI decide what kind of defense to run. This year we are running a matchup zone. Sometimes I will add man or 2-3 zone and have multiple base defenses. I trap and press very little, but do use it at times. I double team based on personal. Finally, I usually set this stuff at the beginning of the season and leave it for the while season, unless we are struggling or there are injuries.

#23 Duke (16-9) at #2 North Carolina (22-2) I might be 22-2, but just like that the crowd sours on me as we drop this one to Duke, at home, 95-92. The fans do not like losing to Duke. Bussey gave it his all, scoring 29 points. Searles had 17 and Rice and Morrell had 13 each.
February 21, 2046 West Virginia (7-17) at #2 North Carolina (22-3) We rebound with an easy win today, 86-63. Bussey continues to dominate, scoring 29 with 10 boards. Searles added 14 with 13 boards. Rice, Mosier and Brown all scored in double figures.
February 24, 2046 #2 North Carolina (23-3) at #17 Wake Forest (17-9) We suffer a loss on the road today, 85-76. Searles led the team with 18 points and 13 rebounds. Bussey had 14 points while Mosier, Rice and Brown all scored in double figures as well.
February Recap

#2 North Carolina (23-4) at #23 Duke (18-11) We avoid getting swept by Duke by beating them on their own court, 84-80. This was a great late season win. Brown came off the bench to lead us in scoring with 21 points. Morrell fell just 1 point short of having all 5 of our starters score in double figures.
March 7, 2046 Southwest Missouri State (18-9) at #2 North Carolina (24-4) We wrap up the regular season with a 80-73 victory over a very solid SWMS team. Bussey scored 28 to lead us today. Rice had 17, and Searles had 11 with 13 boards.
Final ACC Standings
We earn the #1 seed in the league tournament. March 9, 2046 (1) #2 North Carolina (25-4) vs. (9) Virginia (7-23) We don’t have much trouble in the opening round with a 98-70 victory. March 10, 2046 (1) #2 North Carolina (26-4) vs. (5) Iowa (16-14) We drop this game in the semi-finals, 71-66, shaking our confidence just a bit. Rice led us with 18 points, while Searles had 17 with 11 boards.

Post Season
Selection Sunday is a shocker. Despite being a top 5 team and #2 for most of the year, we are awarded a 4 seed in the NCAA Tournament. March 16, 2046 (4) #2 North Carolina (26-5) vs. (13) Siena (19-12) We have little problems with our opening round opponent, and cruise to a 96-67 victory. Rice moved over to the PG spot and put up 24 points to lead the team. Searles scored 17 and had 10 rebounds. Brown came off the bench with 16.
March 18, 2046 (4) #2 North Carolina (27-5) vs. (12) Oakland (24-8) This Oakland club beat the 5 seeded Southern Miss. Team. We have very little problems with them and this game went just like the first one. We won 97-61 and are headed to the Sweet Sixteen for the second straight year. Bussey led the way with 28 points. Searles had 20 points and 12 boards.
March 23, 2046 (4) #2 North Carolina (28-5) vs. (1) #17 Cincinnati (26-8) So we are a 4 seed, while the #17 team is a 1 seed. The selection committee did a pretty bad job this year. We opened up an early 10 point lead in this one, and led by 8 at the half. Cincinnati stormed back to get within two points late, but we hit some free throws and pulled the ‘upset’ leading us into the Elite 8! The final score was 77-73. Bussey was the POTG with 23 points and 15 rebounds. Rice added 20 points.
March 25, 2046 (4) #2 North Carolina (29-5) vs. (3) #14 Indiana (27-11) It all comes down to this. 40 something years of coaching college basketball and I am 1 win away from going to my first ever Final Four. I believe this is my best chance I have ever had to get there, and if we don’t do it today, the next year or two could be rebuilding years. We need to lay it all on the line tonight. We fall behind by just 6 points at the half. In the second half we had at least 5 chances to tie or take the lead, but we could never quite get over that hump and we lose a real heartbreaker, 76-73. The Final Four still eludes me.
Final Four #1 Oklahoma State #3 Boston College #3 Indiana #1 Southern California Indiana goes on to beat BC for the NCAA Title. Texas A&M wins the NIT Title. AWARDS David Morrell was named to the ACC Freshman Team. Scott Rice was named to the ACC First Team. Kevin Searles was named to the ACC Second Team. Josh Bussey was named to the ACC First Team. He was also named a Second Team All-American I was named ACC Coach of the Year! Season Stats

Ugh, I don't know if I can take anymoe of this. This is just too heartbreaking. Injuries to key players have just killed you at times. There is no way you lose with Patterson in the line-up. What a devastating front-line. Those are some big shoes to fill.

Yeah. I am going to look at adding a reduced version of this option. That actually seems to be one of the most requested things right now.
