Agreed...5-11 seasons and higher draft picks don't exactly guarantee you a super bowl ticket. More likely, if things go really well, you get to be a playoff team....So I never understood the sentiment to "blowup" a near-playoff team. Usually when teams blow-up, they spend years to get where they were pre-blow up.

Nothing wrong with drafting well and getting some youth in there though.

Fitting that a false start penalty for Carolina makes it a 42 yard FG instead.

Minnesota with a last second 50 yard field goal to beat the NY Giants 2nd teamers, 20-19.

Annnnnd, the only remaining original Panther saves the division for Carolina as John Kasay makes a 42 yard field goal. There is still 1 second left for a kickoff. 33-31 Carolina.

A botched squib kick gives New Orleans one play left from the 40 with 1 second left.

hahah, new orleans doesn't line up in time and gets a delay of game penalty so this final play is from the 35 instead.

And the Falcons just won, so if the Saints pull off a miracle, it's a wild card for Carolina.

Yup.
Chicago and Tampa Bay both needed to win (or at least tie) today to have a shot at a wild card. With both losing the Dallas-Philadelphia winner will get the last playoffs ticket in the NFC.

If Andrews can get his problems behind him, Curtis and crew can stay healthy, and they have a good draft, then the Eagles could be dangerous next year. Heck, they could surprise a team or two in the playoffs this year.

However, if they show up flat with everything that has happened to keep them alive, then I agree with you that some changes need to be made.

That's a lot of if's

Granted, as assembled, they are by no means a bad team, but probably no better than a 9-7, 10-6 team. I want them to get back in championship contender mode, and I don't see that happening with the current team.

I do agree that McNabb could have been a great QB (and still can be). He just needs the tools.

WOW! What a choke job by Tampa. Wow, it's rare to see Gruden outcoached, but he sure was today. Garcia is definately a piece of shit at this point in his career.

Shit, so what's left for scenarios

AFC:

-Ravens get wild card with win
-Dolphins win division with win
-If either lose, Pats take their place. If both lose, Pats and Jets take their places
-Chargers/Broncos winner wins division

NFC

-Cowboys/Eagles winner gets wild card - is that right?

So, Baltimore, Miami, Dallas and Philadelphia (and Denver and San Diego) all have faith in their own hands. New England doesn't, needing either Baltimore or Miami to lose (or tie). NY Jets need to win and need Baltimore to lose.

wow that was some wild finishes to the NFC South games there, almost looked like the football gods were making sure the Falcons won and the Panthers lose so the streak of last to first could continue.

And nice choke jobs Tampa and Chicago, was really pulling for Tampa cause I didn't want Dallas or Phlly in. Now I gotta root for Philly I guess.

Tampa Bay was well on their way to victory with the long run by Cadillac Williams but when he was on the ground screaming in pain as he re-ruptured his reconstructed knee, you kind of new the Bucs were finished...
(...and that should do it for Cadillac's short injury plagued career...)

Oh well, it was an interesting season so it wasn't a total loss, despite the mega-meltdown at the end.

Winner of Eagles/Cowboys is in (this one I know)

What a great day of football!!

Great throw from McNabb to DeSean Jackson on 3rd down to set up another TD. Eagles up 17-3 now.
