Jim forming a validation committee was funny as hell. And then Dwight petitioning to join it... ummm petition denied... Dammit!

I thought Jim's committee was hilerous. Also a great moment, which has been unmentioned, is when Ryan took all the excuses for not going to lunch and explained "I keep them on a PDA."

I think Pam getting along with Karen is somewhat of a ploy at this point. She mentioned that she didn't give her a chance, so now she's going to become her "buddy". I put the quotes there because she didn't explain her past relationship with Roy to Karen. Maybe she's trying to set Karen up with Roy.

I won't disagree. I think the far more interesting relationship at this point is between Jan and Michael. Clearly sometime before last season's finale she changed her mind about him. I say this on the presumption that she is the one who went with Michael to Sandals (all inclusive resort).

More like "All Inclusive" ***BROWS RAISING UP AND DOWN WHILE MICHAEL HAS ABSOLUTELY NO IDEA WHAT ALL INCLUSIVE MEANS*** roffled on that

The best part, by far, was Michael marking his "girlfriend" because he couldn't tell the Asian waitresses apart. "Waitresses... they all look alike" (while Roy and Kevin are cracking up).
Kevin weighing double fudge brownies and Angela was great as well.

I still laugh to myself at the exchange that went something along the lines of:
"Want to go to lunch?" "Where to?" "Japanese Hooters." [Benihana] Mainly b/c I know someone who I can totally picture saying this as well... And then later Michael's monologue about 'hos'.... Fantastic... |

I liked when Jim slammed on the brakes and Dwight hit his head against the front seat after he said sitting in the back was the safest seat in the car. Dwight leaving is probably just temporary, but I could see this episode leading to Andy's departure. As for Jim and Karen, who knows.

I thought this episode was very good at illustrating just how stupid/smart Michael Scott can be. He was stupid with the whole intro thing with the computer and "Hawkman" line, but he was very intelligent when it came down to the sales pitch. I like the two sides of him. |

Yeah, this is setting up for Andy and Karen's departure at year end (plus or minus a cliffhanger or two). Andy's departure of coure organized by Shroot's girlfriend. Too bad really, as I like both characters. Well, Andy mostly and Karen to look at. One sure sign they're both goners: Despite appearing all season, neither is listed as 'official cast' instead they both receive the dreaded 'guest star' credits. Then again, listening to Season 2's commentary on the finale (I believe), Melora Hardin makes the comment that when she appears on the opening credits, she finally made it to a regular. I believe she's appeared in every episode in the 3rd season in some form or another (either in person or on the phone). Also note that the Office credits in the beginning haven't changed since the first season. break break Watched it again tonight. I noticed that both times that Dwight has gotten in trouble with Michael it was Angela's fault. Angela pushed Dwight to jockey for Michael's job. Angela messed up and consequently Dwight bailed her out and still covered for her by quitting his job ("I always dreamed of dying in my chair. That dream is shattered."). What a bitch. |

Raiders GREAT observation on that.
What I enjoyed most was seeing Michael once again display his duality. I actually think he's an astute observer of people except for when it relates to him in anyway. Notice on the two sales calls we've seen him, his essential sales pitch is the same (Dunder Mifflin offers better customer service) but his approach was very different. It was loud and boisterous at Chilli's where as on Thursday it was a much more quiet and subdued approach. He knew how to read each customer and tailer his pitch appropriately. And he was even clearly clued into Andy's tactics, and in particular annoyed with him on how we was acting with the customer, until it threatened him. This was a great episode since main characters got to show themselves at their best. Whether it was Kevin dealing with Angela at the start in his own Kevin sorta way, Phyllis successfully using sex appeal (never thought I'd say that), or the way that Jim and Dwight are both good salespeople and know how to perfectly work as a team despite the mutual disdain. And then you had the hilarious bit with Kevin. This show is truly a special show. |

I think Andy hurt himself badly by "trying to wear them down" (as he also does with women, LOL). Michael seemed to just not be responding. Even before Andy totally messed up the sales call.
I also liked how Jim and Dwight worked well together as a team. I think, except for Andy, every one who seems like they'd be horrible in their jobs (and in other shows would be) actually turns out to be pretty competant. I like that they show that Michael and Dwight, while horrible in the office, as good at doing their jobs.

Best part of the episode for me, right there. When Dwight picked up the phone, I thought he was going crazy again, or calling Angela, or what not - but the scheme worked - perfectly. It also hints at a very interesting back-history between Jim and Dwight - even before the show started. |

Speaking of which, the best part of that scene was when Jim calls Dunder-Mifflin and Kelly picks up and starts blabbering on and continues to do so as Jim hangs up on her

Dwight had a big personality and I have a big personality. A lot of times when two people like that get together, it can be explosive.

"Hello Oscar, how was your gaycation? I thought of that like 2 seconds after you left." Kevin was hilarious in this episode.
"He's always in my bidness which is ebonics for being in my face and annoying the bejeezus out of me." The scenes with Michael and Andy were great too. |

I loved it when Dwight came back and saw the party and said "You did this for me?" when the big sign says "Welcome Back Oscar". And then Michael gave Dwight the broom for smacking the pinata, with Oscar waiting for it.

The best acting in last night's episode had to be the non-verbal interaction between Jim and Pam - the look on her face when they went to hide the phone, or when she was calling it for the first time. Jim's expressions explaining to Karen he still had feeling for Pam, or when he was watching Andy lose it.
They could do a show with no dialog whatsoever and it would be brilliant, since everyone is so good at what they do. |

"Addition by subtraction."
"What's that mean? It doesn't make any sense." "Mmmmm...yeah...you're right." In addition to the other stuff above (especially the expressions on people's faces), I liked it when Dwight was getting ready to hit the pinata and Kevin was going to blindfold him. "I don't need that." |

so, hopefully without making this a "spoiler"....one of the 2 "guest stars" of this season has just been made a permanent addition to the cast.

It was a funny episode, but there have been better; lots better.
Just goes to show that even in a down episode, it is still top notch. Last edited by mauchow : 02-01-2007 at 07:58 PM. |

"It's seperate but equal"
"Oh, that's what that means" LOL Good episode. I loved that they made the stripper take phones after Michael's blow up. "So you aren't going to break up with me?" "I was thinking I may fire you" "Thank you" Heheh

I like this show a lot, but I really hope all of those who are carrying on as if this is the *best show evar* have at least seen the original BBC version, which I think is geniunely the best comedy ever produced.

I didn't start watching this until this summer because of that very issue. While I think the BBC show was funnier in many ways, I think what this version has done is more impressive in that it has a much deeper story telling ability than did the original I feel. Heresy I know.

DOLA: I really liked how when Ben Franklin first comes into the Bridal Shower he almost perfectly replicates the way Andy talked when he first came into the Dunder Mifflin office.
