I bought a used copy of The Last of Us for PS3 last summer. Finally got around to starting it yesterday, and came across issues with loading and progressing the game.

I have the game updated. Some Googling revealed that there was a launch bug involving auto saving, but it was patched early on. I also read about some cut scene/audio issue that was resolved by setting your PS3's HD setting to "Full" mode instead of "Limited"...

After deleting the game data, changing this setting, and loading from the beginning of the last chapter I got to yesterday, I was able to continue for another hour or so. And now it's happening again. I read now that there were some faulty discs?

Does anyone know more about this, and am I screwed because I bought a used copy? I wanted to experience this game during my week off, so this is royally pissing me off. Do I go buy a brand new copy from an EB/Game Stop?

That's awesome, it's about time. I hope the NHL series gets womens teams (at least internationally) soon too.

I can't remember the last time that user hype about a game has done as much to bring it from not-on-my-radar-at-all to "okay, damn, I might have to consider this" as the response to Witcher 3 has done.

Depending on your card maker they might offer you a good upgrade deal. I forget which one, but one of them used to offer full purchase price if you would upgrade within 90 days.

I'm assuming you never played Witcher 2 then? One of the two best games I played that would run on last gen consoles(although I did play it on PC).

Nope, never touched it. For whatever reason (good/bad, right/wrong, whatever) it never really dented my consciousness enough to even be remotely tempting.

For this gen it's pretty much rave after rave after rave that I'm hearing/reading.

The one big negative -- the less-than-previewed graphics -- issue isn't an issue for me since the preview really made no impression on me. Harder to be disappointed if you had little to no expectations I guess.

Yeah, The Witcher 2 was amazing. Can't wait to get into the third installment, but I'm going to wait a bit because my gaming time is next to nil these days.

The Witcher books on which the games are based are well worth a read btw

I want to like Witcher 3 so bad, but I don't have a long enough attention span. I hammer X to skip through every dialog, which kind of defeats the point of an RPG, especially this brand. As such, by the time I'm five hours in I have no idea what's going on, and I get angry every time a cut-scene even starts (which is like every three minutes). Good times.

I have to agree on the dialog. I get it's a deep game but half the cutscenes could be cut down if they wanted to. Reminds me of how I would write essays in high school that needed to be a certain length. Way too much filler.

Never played 1 or 2 either, in fact never even thought of it, but like Jon said, the hype on Witcher 3 just wouldn't allow me to pass it up..

+1, this is already in my top 3 non-sports with Baldurs Gate II and the Fallout 3 and will probably end up being #1 when all said and done, just absolutely amazing game.

Part of what makes The Witcher into The Witcher is the focus on story. These games have ALL been dialog heavy. This game is probably the least dialog heavy of the bunch.

Yeah, I don't have any excuse. I made it half-way through the first one, and played a good 60-70 hours of Witcher 2, through to completion, so I knew exactly what I was in for....unfortunately my patience for the dialog/story/Yennefer has gotten worse, rather than better, with time and exposure.

Also of note: I'm playing with a video card that is just barely below minimum spec, which is entirely playable, but probably not helping.

It's more like Baseball Stars. I know there's several of us that have it on the PS4. It's a good sim that plays pretty quickly. No career play, but the season mode is fun and you cna play it with multiple players.

Some details on XCOM 2:

-Rather than the game starting on first contact you play resistance forces after aliens have taken over the planet.
-You have a mobile base called "The Avenger" that is a converted alien ship.
-It will have procedurally generated maps.
-The state of the world affects each combat mission's environment.
-There are now 5 classes.
-Melee weapons are an option.
-Mods will be supported.

Someone recommended an article to me a while ago for the 100 best free online games and I've been slowly checking them out. I really enjoyed No One Has to Die (it's a quick, 30-45 minute playthrough in its entirety) and I'm currently loving the 4x browser based Neptune's Pride 2 - it's an extremely simple tactical game that you only have to check in on once a day or so to give orders. It takes your ships about 8 hours to fly to the nearest star and the game's economy updates once a day, so you really don't need to babysit much.

I'm looking forward to getting more into the list, because the first two that I've tried have been great.
