MBBF's "best team in the Big XII" is losing at home 28-17 late in the 4th quarter to the fourth best team in the Big XII south.

I'm really impressed with Oklahoma State and Mizzou.
I usually rate the SEC well above the other conferences, but the Big 12 looks like it is clearly the best this season. |

If Chase was 2 inches taller...he might have not thrown that last pick.

Amazing that the Cowboys are coach by the "I'm a Man, I'm 40!" guy.

Forget the arguments about which conference is better, look at the Big XII South division right now. It's sick. When the polls come out tomorrow, there will be four teams from that division in the top 12. |

Well kind of saw this one coming with LSU- they were not playing great, and beat a sub-par auburn team. QB position is to weak to come from behind, and offense was vanilla... oh well, always next year.
Have to beat Bama next week though |

Yes Izulde, you saw correctly. I did order the PPV but had to record it and watch it after I got home from a fundraiser tonight. Just finished blasting through the recording and can safely say that game should've been nowhere near a 3 point game. Arkansas should've won by 30. I didn't see the stats at the end, but the total yards have to have been something like 500 to 150 or so. Only repeated silly mistakes and miracles by Auburn kept them in the game. Once we stop giving gifts like that we are going to be a good team. When we upgrade the talent significantly over the next few years, we will be very good. I'm extremely excited.
And Michael Smith is amazing. |

The Miners pulled off another win, 24-21 against Tulane, to get back to .500 after starting the season 0-3. The defense was horrible in the first half, but shut the Wave out in the second. QB Trevor Vittatoe was sharp, and RB Donald Buckram had his first career 100 yard game, all against statistically the league's best defense...

I have to agree. This year, the Big 12 is deep and the big powers of the SEC have some deficiencies. |

I'm still going through all the stages of grief from last night's game ... it took me until well after midnight before I could finally summon the motivation to drive back to KC.
It was disappointing to see Missouri make so many mistakes but we didn't beat ourselves -- OSU won the game, and they are a fine football team. I don't think last night was a fluke, and I believe they may well be on or near the tier with OU, Texas and MU. OSU won the line of scrimmage -- they ran well, stopped our run and pressured Chase while we didn't get sustained pressure on Robinson. However, it was a close game that hinged on any number of plays that could gone either direction and most of those plays went OSU's way. I would not have said MU was the best team in the Big 12 heading into last night -- in my book it's OU until somebody supplants them. If Texas beats us next weekend, I'll put Texas at the head of the Big 12. What perplexes me about MU is the pass defense. We lost one senior off the team that finished the season last year and I just don't think Terrell is the difference. No doubt William Moore is having a horrible season compared to last year, but so is the entire defensive backfield. I have no idea how both the corner and saftey both blew coverage on Davis' first TD catch. Maybe the pass defense was this bad last year but simply no one realized it and took the shots downfield. Ever since Illinois beat us with corner routes and fades in week one, everyone has been challenging us deep and hitting them. I'm still stuck on the fourth-and-goal inside the one on the first drive ... a year ago, Pinkle goes for that TD, and if we get it I think we win the game. But Pinkle is "too nice" -- he's worried about running up scores and I think he passed on the TD because he thought MU was going to put 52 on OSU. It was classic overconfidence. I hope he gets over it quickly. We'll see what happens in Austin. If we run the table, we can still get in the title picture with some help from the SEC and Big 10 and some dog knocking off USC again. |

Texas beat OU, so they're the best team in the Big XII right now. They deserve that respect, and they've earned it. It's not easy to attain the #1 ranking, and they are going to find out that staying ranked #1 is even tougher than getting there. |

I know how you feel kcchief.. I had friends over and they all started playing rock band after the game and I went to bed.
That first drive, I could not believe Pinkel doesn't go for the TD. We miss Pig Brown, no doubt about it. As much as I love Mizzou.. I don't think we'll go into Texas and beat a team that looks like they are playing like a #1. Who knows though.. |

There's no way that's the reason he didn't go for the TD.

SEC is definitely overrated again this year. Maybe they have a couple of top teams, but LSU was way overrated, and Florida moving up to 4th is a joke.

If a coach is worried about running up the score on their first drive, that is a sign that they took the preparation for the upcoming game way too lightly.

It's an accepted practice (from both sides of a blowout) that anything goes in the first half. There is simply no way that Pinkel is that stupid to allow for that much overconfidence. You can't build a program being worried about the other teams feelings on the first drive of the game.
It is far more likely that he tightened up because now he has something to lose. When Mizzou was trying to make a name for themselves, going for it in that situation is how you do it. When you've made a name for yourself, kicking it is how you keep it. |

I'm guessing you missed the fact that I already posted that I would be in Vegas all weekend. You'll accept my apology that I didn't geek out badly enough to track down a computer at the Venetian to satisfy your need for my post. Certainly, nothing I said was incorrect in the posts that I made. I stated that Mizzou's defense was not as bad as people made it out to be, especially the silly claims from Vegas Vic. I said that we should beat just about anyone if we held a team under 30 points. We held a very good team under 30 points on Saturday. Unfortunately, Chase just totally lost his head. That doesn't happen very often, yet it happened multiple times on Saturday. Take it for what it's worth. It sucks that if he would have just tossed any of those 3 interceptions out of bounds like he should have, we would have likely won. With that said, this season is setting up remarkably similar to last year IF Mizzou can beat Texas next week. We have a very easy schedule after this next game down the home stretch and have the B12 Championship in our backyard. Mizzou still has a very good chance at getting to the National Championship thanks to the strength of the Big 12 conference and the relative weakness of the North teams. |

So you went from Mizzou being better then OU and Texas to IF they can beat Texas?
