The Atlanta Thrashers have traded former top pick Patrik Stefan and Jaroslav Modry to Dallas for Niko Kapanen and a 7th round pick.

I agree. I don't really follow junior hockey that much so I don't know who's good and who's not, but I'd rather have a franchise forward than a franchise defensemen.

Stevens was rather one-dimensional. Johnson gets up and down the ice way better now than Stevens ever did.

Yeah, that was more my point. I'd take a two-dimensonal stud D-man first overall... but I wouldn't take Stevens first overall. But if what you're saying is true, then I understand the Blues picking him more now than I did.

Scott Stevens recorded over 45 pts 10 times in his career.

He was not one-dimensional at all.

Furthermore, he was one of the best leaders of the last 20 years.

If Johnson even APPROACHES Stevens in any way, he'll be hugely succesful.

He's in a group with DiPietro, Chris Phillips, and Alexandre Daigle in the past 20 years or so.

I was surprised that there has not been a true bust for a #1 overall in decades.

Yeah, once they all hit their stride it wouldn't make much sence to have one of them on the third line... I suspect he's the most likely canidate to move to the wing.

I can't see the Bruins passing up Kessel... they had their eye on Toews because they thought Kessel would be gone.

I don't like the Tanguay trade for the Avs. I just don't think Leopold is the guy. This could be like Derek Morris Redux for the Avs. Tanguay will look great playing with Iginla.

I too love that Ovechkin made the pick for Washington. He seems like a really good guy. It's great that he's so into the franchise and eager to be the face of the team. Well done.

I liked the interview with Alex & Swede. When Blondie was sounding really flustered and mumbling about maybe not being in the NHL next year, Ovechkin confidently stepped up and said "He's definitely good enough to play in the NHL next year and we will have a lot of fun playing together".
