Gonna be tough for Iceland playing a quarterfinal against the home team, but...I guess with this tournament anything is possible.

France heavy favourites now. Germany missing Hummels (suspension), Gomez and Khedira (injured). Likely also Schweinsteiger ...

Because of what, exactly ? I´d like to be optimistic, but don´t see how we win with a lineup full of question marks ... Heck, Müller is having the bad sort of our of body experience to add to our issues ... t

That result sucked. Hopefully Germany will crush them in the semis.

Add Müller playing shit and Kroos not that great, plus Boateng also potentially injured, no ?

yeah ... And all potential replacements being either totally out of form/shape (Schürrle and especially Götze, who has no business playing professional soccer much less this tournament right now) or having no experience with the NT (Weigl, Sane, to a lesser extent Can).

Not saying we will loose for sure, just that it won´t be pretty. I am pretty sure we will elicit some groans with the style of play among neutral fans this time

also, maybe the best video i have seen in recent times. All Italy penalties shown at once via overlay. Well, almost all at once

Yes, the issue isn't with the refs. The issue is that 2 yellows in 5 games resulting in a ban is too tough. The game is much less violent than it used to be, when the only guys picking up 2 yellows in 5 games were the real thugs.

Dunno, Wales is still fun.

Portugal doing nothing wrong, but i just hope they lose with their awful display of rationality above all else. Just so i can blame it all on their "small mentality" (Ronaldo on Iceland)

UEFA made Wales wear their away kit (as they should have done in at least one other game) and then decided that Portugals home kit was too close, so made them change as well. That's UEFA for you.

Disappointed but still very proud. Just a step too far without Ramsey, I feared it would look like the England game without his linkup play and that proved to be the case. Have to think Germany or France will roll the Portugese quite easily in the final.

Yeah, like I told someone at work, if you told me a month ago that Wales would be 0-0 at half vs Portugal in the semifinals I would have assumed half the teams got disqualified. Nothing to be disappointed in.

Are we sure that the guy walking around wearing that white #13 jersey, really is Thomas Müller? In nothing does he remind me of the penalty box killer he is or used to be.

And, even as someone rooting for Germany, that half was probably the best officiated half of the Euros. The ref has been outstanding - he's not going for any of the flops and the one penalty was pretty clear on the replay.

to be fair, there was a clear foul on Kroos that should have been a penalty. BUT: It seemed impossible to judge in real time, for sure looked like he hit the slider tackling player after the shot (only on the replay you saw he got hit from behind by Pogba during the shot).

Otherwise a fucking great performance by the german team, especially considering the lineup. Müller can´t buy a good touch, Schweinsteiger is basically only getting by on experience and smarts at this point, Kimmich/Can/Draxler/Hector are all really, really inexperienced. Höwedes the backup stepping up.

France did everything right if they win, if they don´t Dechamps will have to answer questions about basically playing chicken with the better team.

As for my Germans: Some days things just go wrong, today was one of those days.

The handball PK completely changed the match. The french relaxed and the crowd got back in.

Boateng injury finished it. After he went out, Germany was not so great. Germany had too many injured players from their regular starteers.

And that Griezman kid is really good.

Onto Portugal now.

Man that was a fun game to watch. I agree about the Boateng injury - as soon as he went out, the game shifted dramatically.

Ozil is quickly becoming one of my favorite players to watch. That dude is deadly.

No, Ronaldo! I can't believe I'm saying this, but I'm actually disappointed because it looks like he's hurting too much to continue playing.

This feels like a fitting end to this tournament. People have complained about the number of teams and the format but without some of the smaller nations and the shock wins, this would have been absolutely dire. The big nations just haven't delivered more often than not.

Not sure I've seen a ref book a white defender wearing a blue shirt for handball before, when in fact it was a black striker wearing a red shirt who handled it.

Easy mistake to make

Portugal has won 1 match after 90 minutes, won two after 120 minutes, one after penalty kicks and drew all three of their group stage matches. A tournament winner in style of the format and the current state of soccer.

To be fair, Portugal was involved in one of very few watchable matches. Portugal-Hungary was the most entertaining match for me.

And that game with 3 goals against made them change up their formation/system in subtle ways, get more cynical ("hey, why do we have to dictate play ?"). So in a way, Hungary is the real European Champion

Amazing goal by Eder, who changed the nature of the game after coming on. Keeping up the ball up front, forechecking and being a pain in the rearend for France.
