I saw the link. It was Obama politic stuff. No way he was the same as the moderate Republicans who voted for a top marginal rate of 28% and believed an adequate health care plan was a tax credit. And I bet if you asked him the same question today, when he's out of office, he'd agree. I mean people talk of Susan Collins as the last of them when they lament the old moderate Republicans.

I never realized how much of a liar he was. From 2014:
"The truth of the matter is, when you look at some of my policies, in a lot of ways Richard Nixon was more liberal than I was," Obama told Fox News's Bill O'Reilly. "Started the EPA, you know, started a whole lot of the regulatory state that has made our air and water clean." |

Look at your link again:
Quote:
So is he saying that mainstream policies are moderate Republican policies? Or is he talking to moderate Republican Cubans and trying to play politics. As for your second quote, do you think Obama actually though President Nixon was more liberal than Obama was? Do you think Obama felt like he wouldn't start the EPA or do air and water regulations (even though he try to do them a lot). Or do you think that was a political quote - to try to get some more Republican votes, such as Collins or Murkowski, for his policies?

Maybe he was dishonest on both instances and playing politics. If so, it's a good reminder on the effectiveness of bending the knee to the GOP.

The man got the ACA passed, which was a Herculean task (ask Bill Clinton).

Back to "moderate Republicans of the 1990s" for a second. Bill Clinton's 1993 Health Care Plan was a slightly less comprehensive than the ACA and was deep sixed not only by moderate Republicans, but even plenty of moderate Democrats (most famously Senator Daniel Patrick Moynihan). Of course, the attempt was a major reason they lost both houses of Congress.

Well this has been the most entertaining start to a Democratic debate.
Bloomberg needs to start making more of an impact.

The exchange part yes (though I'd argue that's not the core of the ACA), but Heritage wanted the states to run the exchanges. Heritage's plan, fwiw, wouldn't have ended pre-existing conditions nor expanded Medicare (which the SCOTUS struck down) or the public option (which couldn't get enough support) nor support for the poor to buy insurance, nor had the individual mandate. The Heritage Plan was just a Health Care exchange without additional needed regulation. Sent from my Pixel 4 XL using Tapatalk

Biden is sharp tonight as well. Maybe since every one is going after Bloomberg, he can relax a bit?

That Bloomberg answer on tax return transparency was painful to listen to.

This might be it for old Bloomberg. This is why you want him in the debate if you're the other candidates.

It's going to cost Bloomberg a LOT of money to recover from this.

Glad Warren spoke up for Klubuchar about the name thing. FFS she forgot a name, it happens. If anything Mayor Petes attack completely backfired and made her seem relateable. Who hasn't done that?

There's a lot of people that don't want Bloomerberg to win and think it was BS he got into this debate. This debate may end up killing any chance he had of winning and is the best thing to happen to Biden's campaign in a few weeks.
