Damn, very impressive bucket by MSU. Cannot believe the 85% FT shooters for NIU are missing so much.

Yeah - feel sorry for those kids. You know they're going to be pissed at themselves - shots they make all of the time. The one kid had missed 8 all YEAR prior to this game.

I have video, but it's irrelevant - game over for all intents and purposes now.

Pretty sure that's the case for me here, too. Only thing I'd be a little unsure about is if it was a game with ACC team (Maryland) vs a game with a Big East team (Georgetown) for the DC affiliate.

Yeah, in Atlanta SEC would trump any ACC team other than Georgia Tech IIRC. Thank god I moved back up here

Darn,

I'm an Izzo fan and picked Michigan St in this game..over Kansas of course, but Some of these late calls killed Northern Iowa.

The Michigan player completely displaces the defender..loses control of the ball on the way up, and all the announcers can do is talk about how well the crew handled it by allowing the out of position ref to make the call. Then a pretty blatant over the back freeing up the ball for the decisive offensive board and put back.

+3. Not the best recruiter obviously, but the best coach come tournament time, bar none. It's amazing how he gets the best out of his team in the tournament every single year.

Tonight Ohio State did to my bracket what Northern Iowa did last week to a lot of the others in my pool.

Without Ohio State...now who is going to knock Kay State out of the final?

Agree with him and also with coach K. Duke really has a decent chance (Kentucky or West Virginia will be the big test) to win the national title this year.

Yeah... looking at the way the bracket has shaken out, I'm having a tough time thinking that anyone else should be favored to make it to the title game from that side. I'd take "the field" (of 3) over Michigan State, but I like them, their coach, and their experience over the other teams.

Been saying that for a while myself. The man is truly a phenomenal coach and I am shocked that he hasn't been lured to one of the traditional powers. (UNC, Indiana, UCLA, etc)

I dunno -- Baylor had one of the best performances of the S16. They played Saint Mary's, but Saint Mary's easily beat two pretty good teams in this tournament. Plus, Baylor will be playing close to home.

I think Kentucky would smack Duke. WVU - Duke would be an ugly game and probably end up in the 50s.

To be fair, outside of UCLA, it's not like basketball powers read like a who's who of vacation spots: Kansas, North Carolina, Kentucky, Indiana, Duke (Durham, NC), Syracuse, etc.

It reads a lot more like a list of "places where you'd want to stay indoors and play/watch basketball"

Yeah, that early season ranking thing was silly. MSU was never one of the top 5 teams this season. Adding in the Lucas injury, I'm very happy with how it's gone this tourney.

I hate this to sound cocky, but I'm really happy it's Tennessee instead of OSU, because I really think another Final 4 is realistic.

Hey bro, someone's got to win it all. I'd say a title is realistic for any of the 8 teams left.

True however a lot of those places are near major cities if I remember correctly. Chapel Hill is beautiful and I would have loved nothing more then to have gone to Law School there.

They have a lot of beautiful women there as well.

I swear UNI fans outnumbered the rest of us combined. It wasn't that bad, but I'd say of the 26k+, that 10k were UNI. That crowd was crazy!

Felt so bad for them up 7 at the half (right?)...the UNI guys we friended
to our right were bouncing and just high off anticipation. I was really happy for them and the MSU rolled out that second half. Holy cow we couldn't believe it.

I was definitely happy for Schmidty, but sad for the large UNI crowd. That said, watching them play, I had a schmidty-ish feeling. I'm glad we're playing MSU and not UNI.

Regardless, wow what an experience that was. Singing Rocky Top with the band and the fans. Wow. I can die a happy man.

The OSU fan beside us made a few comments to us early in the game...he wasn't arrogant, just joking.

The first thing he said was, "is that (Rocky Top) all the band knows?". My brother responded, "Here's how I see it. 200 years ago some guy created bologna. Was it the best idea? Maybe not. Does everyone like it? No, but by God everyone knows what it is and has tried it.". Not too bad for an off the cuff reply.

Later, the guy told us, "you know, Ohio State is the largest university in the country. Over 50,000 students.". Again, my brother responds, "yeah, well, only 500 of em made it to St. Louis."

I was looking over Kentuckys schedule and they really have played an easy schedule for a BCS conference school. They have not beaten 1 team in Ken Pomeroys top 25 all season. They have 3 impressive wins all year(at Vandy, at Florida, and the neutral court game against Tennessee.)

On the other hand West Virginia has faced the 2nd toughest schedule in the nation. They have won 9 games in a row. They are 6-3 against Ken Pomeroys top 25.

Id expect a close low scoring battle with these two athletic aggressive defenses. I am taking West Virginia +4 points.

Having so many different styles to play against in the Big East has to help West Virginia in this game as well.

You have the bruisers-Pitt
The press-Louisville
The Zone-Syracuse
The slow paced effective offense-Georgetown
The teams that fly up and down the court-Seton Hall and Villanova
The scrappy team-Marquette

The only two really crazy thins in the bracket were Ohio and Northern Iowa. But those were pretty darn crazy things.
