Even if the intent is maximum revenue streams it seems counterintuitive to be putting a significant number of games on the NFL Network where they're paying themselves for the rights and have like three advertisers. Seems like spreading themselves out that much only guarantees that nobody will be able to watch all the games they want. Shrug.

This BUF LAC game actually turned out to be pretty good. Or close at least.

Wait, so I have to subscribe to Peacock if I want to watch the WC games? So Thursday night is on Prime, WC and other games on peacock, will I need a Youtube TV account to watch the other playoff games?

Misspoke. There is only one that is going to be Peacock exclusive. The early Saturday game will be on both NBC and Peacock. The late Saturday game is Peacock exclusive.

Jonathan Taylor's touchdown in the opening drive was the first rushing touchdown the Falcon's defense has given up to a running back all season. Week 16. The Falcon's defense has definitely not been the problem.

The f-ing Falcons are going to play the best ball of the season now that they really need is to lose out for a better draft pick and to get rid of Smith. We are doomed for mediocrity.

We were driving for the 4th quarter of the Det/Min game and had to listen to the Vikings radio crew. Jesus that was awful. I realize most of these people are expected to be homers, but they spent the entire quarter complaining about the refs and on the play where Kirby Joseph had a clear concussion while celebrating a hit that drew a penalty, they made fun of him, did the old DOWN GOES JOSEPH thing, and then excused it by saying he started it earlier in the game after an INT. I'm sorry, but your stupid asses aren't on the sideline so shut the fuck up and try to pretend to be professionals.

I still don't get why they benched Heineke after 2 games. I like that guy. He's not a franchise QB but he can be competent.

I think there was an injury. At least that was part of the excuse. Smith just loved Ridder and really wanted him to develop as the starter. I think if they had stuck with Taylor we would probably have already clenched the division. Just reason number 1001 Arthur Smith needs to go.

Nick Mullins plays quarterback the way I play Madden. 400 yards, four interceptions, and just constantly forcing the ball to your star wide receiver in no matter how covered he is.

This announcing tandem is awful.

In a 45 sec span I heard the Texans called "the Houstons" and Vance Joseph called Vance Johnson

Caleb Williams is re-tweeting people saying they want the Bears to keep Justin Fields and draft Marvin Harrison Jr. number one. I don't think he wants to be a Bear.

The Pats falling out of the top 3 picks is kind of a disaster, but at least they did it fucking up the Broncos' and Steelers' playoff chances, which is fun. Beating the Jets again would be a total waste. Somehow beating the Bills again would be worth it.

Also Zappe clearly outplaying Mac (with a worse team than Mac had earlier in the season) has shut up the Mac truthers.

I was disappointed in the announcing team for the Lions/Vikings game. Mispronouncing player names, getting some of the strategy wrong (he should have just knocked it down, not intercepted it), incorrectly saying that the Lions would get the second half kickoff, etc.

I get that it's a hard job. I have enough trouble carrying on a normal, not-on-TV conversation but that's also not my job. It is yours. Many of these guys that are former players that are used to weekly prep. You don't have the starters and prime backups names memorized for this week? I'm expecting you to have some serious familiarity with the players and their recent performance. When you say that Aiden Hutchinson "isn't known for his spin move" when that's just about all he does is pretty bad, Vilma.

How'd you like to be the Panthers and have given up the #1 pick when you might have just wasted last year's #1 pick?

I wonder what the Pats will do at QB going forward if they're outside the top 2 guys. Jayden Daniels seems to be rising. Or maybe Zappe mania will run wild for a bit and they replace him with a veteran free agent star in a year or two.

Rookie QBs seem like such a craphoot. Especially when thrown into a bad situation. Seems like there's merit to idea of building around that spot and then bringing in a Cousins type. When your top drafted QB tanks it sets you back years.

My KC under wins total bet hit today

Mahomes has had a good first half of his career as any QB ever.

His receiver corps is awful. His line isn't bad, but his receivers struggle to get open as much as Bears receivers.

The Mahomes stat mentioned during the game today is one of the most impressive I've heard. Mahomes has a winning record in games in which his team has trailed by double digits.

He made what looked like some headscratchingly bad throws today - bouncing balls, just off. But quite often, you see him throwing to an open space when a receiver stops, or throwing to a spot and the receiver just keeps going. It's some combination of receivers who can't catch, don't know how to run routes, or just don't understand the offense or what Mahomes is trying to do.

Mahomes will be fine. He hasn't ever had to deal with this level of ongoing frustration or this many receivers who make the wrong decisions. He did play kinda poorly in some SB games before.

It does take some situational luck to win that consistently. As long as Andy stays in charge, they will thrive, but maybe not win SBs - who knows?

Plus Kelce might be too old. For the NFL, but maybe can become a roadie.

Broncos would have to make the following moves to simply cut Wilson

-Trade/Cut Garrett Boles -16m
Cut Tim Patrick(not sure if legal if he’s hurt) 9.5m
Cut/trade Justin Simmons -14.5
Trade Jerry Jeudy 12.9
Few other minor moves.

Then they’re still 15m over the cap or so and need to replace 5 players and still need to get under to sign draft picks.

They just need to talk to the Saints who are always massively over the cap but somehow signs high priced free agents every year.

The poorly-sourced word is that Wilson is interested in a contract adjustment to give Denver more flexibility to improve the team.

The Athletic says they're going to cut him before next season

Aside from the contract, the Broncos traded two 1sts, two 2nds, a 5th, and three players for him.

And the neat thing - that huge contract hasn't even started yet. He's still on his Seahawks contract.

And that's probably still not as bad as the Watson trade.

I think one of those firsts ended up being Witherspoon who is an absolute stud corner.

It will be interesting to see what Wilson does. He can sign somewhere like Pitts or Atlanta or Minnesota for the minimum and play for a new deal in 2025. Or he could even just stay in shape and wait for an injury. He’s getting 37 million regardless so there’s a wide variety of paths he can choose.

The two first-round picks ended up being OT Charles Cross and CB Devon Witherspoon, with the second-rounder being OLB Boye Mafe - all three should be starters for the Seahawks going forward.

It's almost worse to think about what Denver could have done with those picks if they hadn't made the trade - while QB wasn't really an option (Pickett in 2022, Levis in 2023), Cross or another OT (Darnell Wright?) would have removed the need to sign Mike McGlinchey to a big contract, Witherspoon playing on the other side from Surtain would be a seriously good CB pairing, and some of the other options were interesting (Jalen Carter in 2023, or one of the WRs that went 10/11/12 in 2022 - Wilson, Olave, Williams...) Sign a veteran stopgap at QB (Brissett or Mayfield?), draft a developmental guy later on, and that's a very different Broncos team over the last couple of years.
