Bucc -- you mean you never thought you'd see thirty again after all these years, right?

Maybe they can cue the guy who wrote Bill Pullman's "Independence Day" presidential speech to give Tremblay something to say before he sends his team back out there.

Obviously the team was not as pleased as expected by this news.

BALTIMORE -- Dave Trembley will return next season as manager of the Baltimore Orioles after leading the team to a winning record over the last two months.

Trembley replaced Sam Perlozzo on June 18, then was given the job through the rest of the season on July 31. The Orioles announced Wednesday that his contract has been extended through the 2008 season, with a club option for 2009.

"I'm extraordinarily confident that Dave is a good fit for this city, this franchise and these baseball fans," Orioles president of baseball operations Andy MacPhail said.

Nice way to celebrate Tremblay's contract extension!

Impressive eh? I gotta believe the game was safe at 21-3 going into the 9th, but with the Rangers bullpen....

More impressive - Bal only used 4 pitchers. That's gotta be great for the ERA's.

Orioles manager to his pitching staff, "Ok, who wants to pitch"?

O's pitchers all run and hide.

I'm impressed by Tremblay. Even in a DH, it takes a lot of discipline to only use 4 pitchers when your guys are getting tattooed like that.

What was to over/under on the Tex and O's game?

Was Ryan Leaf pitching?

Was Brian Bosworth playing any defense?

Also impressive in that it all happened in 4 innings.

Also, anyone want to predict the score in game 2? I'm going to guess 5-2

The second game needs to get canceled, seriously. If game two starts to be a blowout, you're going to see dudes start getting drilled, especially after, yeah, 16 runs in the last two innings.

Is that proper? I won't get into that. Athlete codes of honor are weird things.

But I seriously think there are going to be some hitters eating dirt and some catchers getting drilled by baserunners if the score is remotely that bad in the second game.

I'm sure trying to steal a base would be frowned upon, but it's an game based on individual performance, guys aren't going to strike out on purpose to make the other team feel better.

I feel like it almost gets to a point where you can no longer be embarrassed by a complete beatdown like that.

Al least try and go the other way with 2 strikes.

There must be something about the Rangers and O's. I was at a game back in '97, where the Rangers beat them 26-7, scoring 16 runs in the bottom of the 8th. It got so bad, they brought in Ripken's backup to pitch.

Guess I was a bit off on guessing the score of game 2. Was a high scoring affair, too.

For all of our struggles, the 2007 has brought a lot of nice new players into fruition for the old Redlegs this year and I look forward to a full season with these guys next season:

RP Bill Bray, 24
RP Jard Burton, 27 (30 IP, 2.73 era)
SP Bobby Livingston

IF Jorge Cantu, 25 - great acquistion here, win-win
IF Jeff Keppinger, 27 - .381 in 118 ABs, OPS over 1.000, leads MLB in batting in August
OF Norris Hopper, 28, - .319, 2nd to Keppinger in MLB batting average for August
and of course,
OF Josh Hamilton, 26 - .283 16 hr 1/2 season

Basically the idea of our infield in 2008 looking like Kep, Cantu, Encarnacion, and Phillips is great: they are all young and talented. Phillips or Kep at SS? Does Phillips stay at 2B?

Then if we get rid of Dunn we've got Hamilton/Hopper/Griff, with Freel backing up the OF-INF. Also Votto and Bruce will probably see time next year. I'm very excited for 8 months from now.

Let's Make A Deal: Take your pick
Door number 1:
Josh Hamilton, Brandon Phillips, Jeff Keppinger, Bobby Livingston
Jared Burton
Door number 2:
Jeff Stevens, Russ Haltiwanger
$150,000

****
Wayne Krivsky traded Stevens for Phillips, Haltiwanger for Keppinger, claimed Livington off waivers, claimed Burton in Rule 5 ($50,000), and got Hamilton in the Rule 5 claim/Trade ($100,00)
