That OSU zone was way to spread out at the beginning of the game...they're going to have to pack it in or abandon it altogether.

The rims in Houston seem very tight. Not many soft bounces coming off of missed shots.

UT & tOSU may not be a Heavyweight fight, but it's a pretty good middleweight bout so far.

I've been a big supporter of what Stephen Pearl gives UT when he's on the floor this year but he's gotta come outta there tonight, he's not doing anything good at all.

Who had that major?

Sounds a lot like one of those "sports player majors". If more than 1/4 of the basketball and football teams have it, then it's basically the university-sanctioned-looking-the-other-way-athletes-watch-tv-for-college-credit major.

Hey, I was right:
Ohio State football and majors | Cleveland Sports Archive Site - cleveland.com

Quote:
There are 59 players who get their own page in the OSU media guide. Of those players, 21 are listed as undecided, with seven of them entering their junior academic years and 14 of them entering their sophomore academic years.
That leaves 38 with declared majors. Here's that breakdown:

7 Family Resource Management
7 Communications
5 Business Administration
4 Business
3 Sport and Leisure Studies
3 Consumer Affairs
2 Finance
2 Human Development and Family Science
1 each African-American Studies; Social and Behavorial Sciences; History; Political Science; Health Science

Yup - definitely CAA refs.

Some pretty bad officiating (against both teams) in the last few minutes.

Off topic from tonight, but I was talking to my friend in North Carolina and we were discussing whether or not UNC would hang a banner for winning the NIT (if they do). I thought they would, but he said it would be embarassing for them.

This is why Sasha Kaun was one of my favorites at KU: " He graduated with a degree in computer science and was selected to the Academic All Big 12 Basketball Team three times, in 2006, 2007, and 2008."

I think they'd hang it for a win.

They won't hang one, like W&M will, for making the NIT.

I can't speak to the pre-med, which I'm sure is a tough program but I have that Comp Sci degree and I don't see any of those teachers going light on him for being an athlete. A lot of my teachers, as most at KU, like the basketball team but a lot of them are hardasses, too.

Vols have got to play under control on defense, they're killing themselves by getting lured into gambling.

Surprised both coaches were letting them play there. A lot of timeouts to burn on both sides.

That initially looked like a foul on the desperation 3 but on the replay it looks like a good call.

Yeah I was very surprised OSU didn't take a timeout. Pretty poor play by Matta made even worse when you consider they didn't get a good shot. I don't understand why you don't set your offense up right there.

I actually think UNI is more dangerous than Michigan State.

Congrats on the win. Usually root Big 10 but have a hatred toward Ohio State. They have the douchiest alumni in the city.

For the same reason Michigan State received kudos for not taking one last weekend. Matta did not want to give the Vols a chance to set their D up. This time it did not work.

Will "The Miracle In Missouri" be a step toward even bigger things? ... first time in school history that UT has broken through the 16 ceiling. How much more can this team get done?

Local CBS is showing the Northern Iowa/Michigan State game with no ties whatsoever to either school (St. Louis has some big ten ties but Purdue would nulify that one) just because it is being played in St. Louis. Luckily I have the tv package and can watch the other game. I know there are a lot of fans of Cinderella's that will somehow be more interested in Northern Iowa but here are two teams that were ranked #3 and #5 just two weeks ago. Unbeleievable that the rest of my area doesn't get to see this game. There have to be more true basketball fans than feel good story followers.

Both Duke and Purdue have NBA talent. No question all four teams play well. Why wouldn't I want to see the game between the two teams with the most talented players? It's no matter to me because I can watch both but during no other time in the year would somebody want to watch a top 20 team play against a mid-major when two top 10 teams are playing. It's because of the tournament that the game is interesting. So I say fine but I would be more entertained by the quality of the two top 10 team game and that doesn't make me sanctimonious at all. (Just like almost everyone would be if this were the choice in February)
