Turco turns down 3 years 12 mil from the Stars,And they STILL havent signed a 37 year old center yet

Larionov on a Devs uni...won't that look odd?

I only managed one game last year, and that was the unfortunate streaker one against Boston. Hopefully I'll be able to catch a few more this year. I don't mind the blase fans, they're better than the drunk idiots screaming in your ear the entire game, which is why I stopped going to CFL games. I even caught myself cheering for the Flames a couple of times that game, against my moral upbringing

Of course, if I want to catch any playoffs games in person I'm going to have to make a trip up north

Sidney Crosby is amazing people already in the Q...

In his first regular season game, his team (Rimouski) was down 3-0 going into the third, but Crosby had three goals in the 3rd (including the game winner) to give Rimouski a 4-3 win.

Ovechkin or Crosby?

I wonder which team will "deliberately" tank to get the rights to these two.

Although, the draft rules might change after the lockout...

Nope. Supposed to snow again tomorrow. Knowing Calgary and the chinooks, it will probably be +30 by Halloween.

I read this interesting article on the CBA for anyone that didn't catch it on ESPN.

So long as they play in Finland, I agree, here comes the Cup!! Is there a cup in Finnish hockey? If so, the Leafs will certainly win it. Go lads!

When and where are we having this offline draft? My vote would be for an online draft. I would also like to see some points for shorthanded goals, or points at the least.

There is no times left for an online draft..... unless we can come up with something better, we might need to do an auto-pick draft..... (or maybe we'll get lucky and a spot will open up with a decent time, I'll run over there and check now)

Damn, I'm a little late.

Does Yahoo have a place just for fantasy sports? (asking before checking myself)

Why couldn't a semi-live draft be done through a thread here? It might take a little longer but it's probably better than auto-pick (just my opinion).

dola....

how about this?

Start draft on Monday. Everybody submits a list picks (For example: If you draft 4th, you'd list 4 players) and then we just run it like a pre-ranked draft. If we do one round a day, we will finish one day before the start of the regular season. Doing it this way, we'll have a little more say than a Yahoo pre-ranked draft. Does this make any sense at all? Is there too much work involved?

Initial draft is a bit over-rated, but it's key. Allows you to build the foundation and sculp the nature of your team. I'd hate to wake-up and find I drafted a bunch talented yankers.

Is there an option for a 24 hour on-line draft? Where each person gets 24 hours for a pick? It takes a few weeks b/c inevitably someone will be slow at some point, but works pretty well and doesn't force a bunch of us to be on-line at any one time. That could be tricky for, say, folks in Alberta and folks in Brussels.

Hell, I decided to join up. As for the first point, I wouldn't want to wake up with a bunch of Red Wings on my team

I was in a baseball league where we did an slow live draft essentially (which is what you are looking at). You set it for "offline draft" and then we just conducted the draft via the message board with one person keeping track of the picks on a spreadsheet (I have a sheet that can be easily modified for whoever wants to keep track). Essentially, you post who your picks are on the message board (or email) and when the entire draft is done, the commish enters the picks into the league. Lastly, if someone doesn't pick in their allotted 24 hours, you should have a list that the pick is automatically chosen off of (i.e. the original yahoo list, for instance) so the draft doesn't get stalled.

SI, that's a really good idea. The yahoo list would work well as a master list.

24 hours is more than enough time to select. I'm sure most of us log in here at least once a day.

Ok, bbor is a Leaf fan. I changed my mind and defer to HB and SI.

FYI, this is what the spreadsheet looks like.

If we decide to do this: I will say that I don't have any time at all to maintain it, however. I should be able to find a little time to redo it for hockey after Thursday this week but someone else will have to enter the picks, make sure the 24 hour limit is observed, and do the autopicks for people who don't pick in time.
