Honestly, Bran's storyline is one of the most interesting, to me. Bran/Summer is easily my favorite character in the books so far.
Oh, and that vid was very awesome. |

Bran, in my opinion, suffers from the same problem as Dany's storyline - that of the 'jesus, enough fucking traveling, get on with it already!' genre.

No. I think the incestious queen is a super hot older woman. (Unless she is younger than I think and then my opinion changes to just hot) The lady who gave birth to the devil thing is pretty hot also. |

I'd contest that the hottest queen is the one in Slaver's Bay at the moment.
You know... Queen of the Andals and the Rhoynar and the First Men, Lord of the Seven Kingdoms Khaleesi of the Great Grass Sea Breaker of Shackles/Chains

"would be hot" seems to implies someone is watching... (you know, as opposed to "would be awesome" ).

I started watching about 3 weeks ago or so and am now caught up. I guess I'm of the same mindset as you guys. The Bran storyline is just so slow developing that I don't care.
The stuff with Danaerys is much less annoying to me because despite all the travelling, at least stuff is happening there. Last edited by General Mike : 04-16-2014 at 05:44 PM. |

the tv shows made the Danaerys story line much more appealing than in the books. At times in the books it seriously felt like Danaerys had 500+ pages where absolutely nothing would happen thaT mattered. In fact I think that is one of the places the tv show has done the best is making that story line actually enjoyable.

I fear for what she has coming up though. It's been good, but you're right. Her chapters just went painfully slow.

Well yes... but that's more coming up isn't it? Daenerys was a fantastic read in Storm of Swords (arguably the best storyline of the lot).

I think I would disagree. For me Daenerys' and Bran's storylines throughout the entire books are very dull and drawn out. Each of them could have been made far shorter and more to the point. It also did not help either of them that were virtually the only two main story lines that had no interaction with any of the others at some point. My argument is as the books continue, Daenerys' story line does not get any better, we just end up with even more of these isolated story lines that do not seem to tie together very well. |

They really changed Tommen's character from what I remember.
I always thought of him as a naive child who stamped everything his mother put in front of him. In the show he's much more thoughtful and wants to be a wise king.

I don't understand why they had to make Tommen older. In the books he is nine when he becomes king. In the series he had to be 12 or 13. There's a big difference between a fourth grader and a middle schooler.

Slow, but I thought there were some nice moments. The Sansa-escape bit was nice, and I thought the Pod/Tyrion bit was nice, as of course was Arya/Hound. And I liked Dany's speech to the slaves of Mereen. |

Yeah, most of the scenes worked. I found it strange they spent not 1, but 2 scenes with Sam/whatsherface. I woulda been perfectly happy with that being cut entirely. |

Tywin taking control, Cersei losing everything. Just further cementing that theme. In the books, Tommen was definitely more of a simpleton, but I think that scene was more to illustrate that even his siblings didn't care for Joffrey much. Pretty sure in the books he and Myrcella weren't big fans of his. |

My problem with Tommen is that at his current age the marriage to Margarey is very different. At nine it was believable that Tommen was more interested in childlike things, but at twelve or thirteen and mature it will be hard to believe that Tommen isn't interested in a sexual relationship and that Margarey ends up controlling him.

I think they have shown how manipulative Margarey can be with Joffery... so I can see her controlling Tommen a bit as well.

Everything with Tywin was great. His scene with Tommen in front of Cersei and dead Joffery and his scene with Oberyn.
I found the Sam/Gilly stuff to be a bit too long and unnecessary. I was very... unsure of the Jamie/Cersei scene, though I vaguely recall a similar scene in the books. The Dany stuff was great, though I had to shed a little tear for Strong Belwas. That was his time to shine in the books (though I am pretty sure that whole battle versus the champion took place at Yunkai and not Mereen). I totally understand why he's not in the show and why the changed the location of the fight, but still, I missed the big man.

I have never read the books but I have seen some other places on the internet that are a little confused on this. According to some people it was consensual in the books and while i have no source other than random fans on the internet the director said that even in the tv show it was supposedly consensual.. but that didn't look like it was.. My thought is are we to assume it was consensual moving forward in their relationship dynamic or that it was forced or will it not have any effect on anything just another sex scene. |

There's a trope in TV and especially film where the man pushes things forward (so to speak) on an unwilling woman and she ends up liking it despite herself. I think that's a terrible trope, tbh.
In the books Martin (who is normally somewhat of a teenager when it comes to sex scenes) treated this very well. As I recall, Cersei (in the books) wanted to be as turned on by Jaime as she used to be, but she just couldn't make it happen. So she started with shock, then tried to find pleasure, and then turned to a quiet disgust. |
