All I say is, what a great game. Two great, exciting teams.

I'm pulling for Kansas (not a fan or anything), but I like how they play and I like Self.

This game is over unless Kansas blows it. Memphis blew it.

I guess you really do need FT's to win. Before the UCLA game, the Memphis players said that they've never lost because of a missed FT.

If Memphis can't pull it out, Cal is going to get it from the Press

well the couple of turnovers (epsecially the one that led to a 3 and the beginning of the run) didnt exactly help...

they never lost because of a missed FT because they were always up by 20. Much harder to do with preassure.

Now you can just see them unraveling

This has to be a great season for the Jayhawk fans. Their football team was great and now they should be on their way to a national title in basketball.

What an odd sequence, great pass by Dozier, missed three, Rush blows a layup but recovers ... and then Memphis hits a three.

The university should see a real spike in donations and admission applications this year and into next year.

I never understood this personally. Do regular student factor in a school's winning percentage when applying?

All I can say is that my two favorite college basketball teams are Memphis and Illinois. It sucks to be a fan of the two winningest basketball teams in a single season and neither won the championship.

Not everybody who goes to college is looking at how strong their academic curriculum is. Some are looking at extracurriculars.

It's a marketing and branding strategy on part of the school. It's part the overall package that a school has to offer.

Calipari's post game news conference has the potential to be fun.

Great Job Kansas. They actually had an offense and a coherent game plan to maximize their chances to win. The were built to win this whole thing and served noticed when they blew UNC out the water.

I am still very proud of my team. It is heartbreaking. It really, really is. I can't even begin to understand the pressure to step up and hit a free throw in that situation. It was amazing watching this team play basketball this year. There will not be another Tiger team or another Derrick Rose for a long time.

#2 in the country, but #1 in my heart. Always.

320 out of 320 was for picking all four winners in the elite 8. I just checked the ESPN site and even though my Kansas over Memphis final had me finishing in the top "100.0%", it was only good for 1,309th place out of 3,179,044.

Sad loss for Memphis--unfortunate to lose that way.

Congrats to Kansas, though. Great defensive performances against a pair of amazing offensive teams in these past two games.

Congrats to the Jayhawks. My wife went there, so she got a championship that she barely cares about. Meanwhile, I have yet to get one in college football or b-ball.

Probably because it was about 36k in half of a dome. I really hope they ditch the whole 'raised floor = full dome' plan.

Yowzers. That game was a lot of things, but boring wasn't one of them IMO. I could have cared less about the energy in the arena, though I agree that bigger does not equal better with regards to basketball crowds.

I just got back from Massachusettes Street in Lawrence, which is the main street down our downtown area. It was just a giant sprawling 6-block mass of humanity. This was just something fun and amazing to go visit

GE- Memphis played an amazing game and ran into as much bad luck as anything down the stretch. We had two threes that we had no business hitting to get back into the game and it just seemed like we were destined to lose but didn't. I just don't delight in "vanquished foes" like a lot of fans because I've been on that side so many times.

Everyone should be allowed one big championship for their biggest team in their life. No Yankees winning 4 in a row when there are die hard Pirates fans out there. But I know it's just not like that.

We were dead in the water and somehow we magically pulled it off. I just can't get over it. We had a huge desperation "yes" when Sherron hit that three to make it a 4 point game. And then when Mario hit his shot- I think the entire city just exploded. I know where I was at was and there were only a few of us there.

As an aside, I love my Canon S3 IS. Considering how little light, how hard it was to get non shaky crowd pictures- quite a few of these turned out great (next post)
