The good news is I've already locked up first place in my office pool, regardless of who wins, so I can collect the money on Monday morning.

As an aside, Beasley was much better versus us than Hansbrough. Certainly different circumstances, tho. Then again, it's pretty clear that he got player of the year because he was on Carolina and Beasley was on K-State. The stats were clearly in Beasley's favor.

You can't really compare Hansbrough to Beasley in this game. UNC was down early so they had to go outside more than they probably wanted to. Hansbrough scored 17 points off of 13 shots. Not a bad night for Hansbrough considering they were down by 20 at the half.

It sucks when you look at it from the "we're here to do something" perspective, but taking the long view, it's hard to get upset when you realize your team has been to three straight Final Fours.

Still, this game illustrates something I brought up earlier in this thread: Ben Howland, for all as great as he is at many other things, just cannot coach an offense. I mean, the guy just flat can't do it. He has his little concept of how to run things and he calls all the plays. And he doesn't make any changes to it. And things like Luc Richard taking awful shot after awful shot from outside and Kevin Love being ignored underneath continue to happen. Not to mention my other favorite Howland offensive play (I have brought it up before--the 34 second dribble trip/pass around followed by desperation three to beat the shot clock).

Get a legit offense in there, and maybe, just maybe, you'll win a national title, Coach.

I'm with st. cronin, this has been the most boring tourney in years. Last night was strange, hopefully we get a decent final cause last night sucked.

A few good points. I was just commenting on that fact that 3 trips to the final four (an accomplishment considering how difficult the tournament is) and to not winning has to sting not only for the fans but for the players who are seniors.

I am assuming Love, Westbrooke, and Collison are gone next season. Hopefully Jrue Holiday is an impact player.

I hope Westbrook comes back and he's the most likely to come back right now and the only senior is Mata. I would assume Jrue Holiday is as good as advertised though

Vegas VIc, how did you get 320 out of 320 in Elite 8 when you missed two of the teams? By the way, very nice job. Did most people did good on their brackets?

My bracket was fairly decent considering some of the upheaval caused by a few teams, and I called all 4 final teams, but I had UCLA facing UNC in the Final and I imagine that will cost me my office pool which I had a decent shot winning going into this weekend.

Without having a horse in either race, I really liked both of yesterday's games. Loved watching CDR/Rose/Dorsey in the first game, and Kansas played some amazing basketball for the first 10 mins of their game vs UNC. Then UNC very nearly came back, which added a bit more excitement to what would otherwise have been a very drab second half blowout.

The Elite Eight was, by and large, a bit of a bore, but throughout the rest of the tourney there have been more than enough good games to keep me happy. All of Davidson's games in particular have been fun.

I have watched probably 70% of all games (and 100% outside of the first 2 rounds) in their entirety though, which is no doubt very different from most folks.

Well, in the Sports Gamer Blog bracket tourney, I'm currently 4th picking Kansas vs Memphis. If Memphis wins, I finish 2nd and get CH 2k8 which I just bought . It does feel good to know I might win something though!

If Kansas wins, I get nothing... although I'll congratulate SI.

Can anyone give me some currentish odds on the game tomorrow? Can't check here at work, but I might put a little cash down on Memphis this afternoon.

Memphis seems to be around a 1.5 to 2 point favorite at most places

Really? That surprises me.

I'm still torn on who I think is going to win, not to mention who I WANT to win.

Granted I didn't watch every game, but not one game that I have watched has been close. The NC-Kansas game was probably the most exciting one I watched.

Good game so far. CDR is a heck of a player, even if he does dribble it around a little too long.

What's the over/under on the odds of the "two heavyweights feeling each other out" cliche at the half?

Memphis just killed the gimmick defense, first time they have looked comfortable in consecutive half-court possessions since early half.

Kansas is cold right now - they are going to need to get something outside of six feet if they want to win this game. UCLA showed that D alone isn't a formula to win a title against a multi-faceted team like Memphis.

Rose is an amazing player and reminds me of Wade so much except he doesn't quite have that killer instinct.

If Dozier, Anderson, Dorsey - basically anyone besides Rose + CDR - are on the line then this one is still competitive.

Just caught another break with no technical called there.

Right, wrong, whatever, I've seen the man with the whistle make that call at least a couple of times this season.

No way Collins should have drove 1-2 there - dude just puts his head down and tries to be the hero way, way too often. I would have hoped 7 TOs last game might have tempered this a little bit, but nope.

Memphis is trying to give this away, but I don't think Rose will let that happen with these two shots.

hahahahahahhaa god Memphis just.... I'm speechless. Horrible one on one basketball when you have a chance to put away the game(did you see the kickout Rose had for an open 3 when he decided driving into 3 players was smart?) and lack of fundamentals at the free throw line. i don't really have a rooting interest in kansas but I love seeing this.
