Now that McBride tackle was from behind, but they called the advantage.

I refer back to my original post on this game: the ref is shite. Not biased, just shite. Blatant foul by McBride not called there tackle from behind

SI

If you made that an all-star game or 1992 Dream Team Olympic squad, I'd agree with you. This is the *highest* level of soccer in the world. People are going to wonder if this level is full of this sort of garbage, how bad must the lower levels be?

That's why we don't have Johnson in. A cross in front of goal and he gets it on goal.

A 22 year old adds nothing right now, not even if he's the fastest guy in the world.

Glad to see two US guys get knocked down at the same time.

If sure if they went down without contact they would have gotten a call.

Do you see how tired the Italians are? (and McBride for that matter)

Consider this a football equivalent of an NFL play-off game, and everyone knows the officials were perfect in this year's playoffs, right

The ref's having a mare. It happens, and it sucks when it works against you, but it happens in all sports

The US are getting stuck in and the ref is calling nothing. It's like he's afraid to book another US player in case he accidentally books one who's already on a yellow.

Italy could have had a penalty there - shirt pulling. The ref desperately doesn't want any more controversy.

Dude, they've played the 2nd half two men down. They're entitled to be a little winded I think

Do you have any idea how much they run in a game like this? With two men sent off you have to cover a lot of extra ground.

It's always hard to root for them, they're always boring, they always have talent, and they never go for the kill.

And then when they lose they whine about FIFA hating them and the referees being out to stop them win.

So we need an Italy win and a win over Ghana.

Or a Czech win and we absolutely destroy Ghana.

Second half thoughts

Ref did a complete 180 and was the definition of inconsistent.
Donovan played well
Arena, no sub up front? Eddie Johnson? HELLO!
Bocanegra and Cherundolo were really solid today
