I'm not sure why there is a need for the slaves to die. Talgian wants them dead, hoops keeps saying some (but not all) of the slaves are infected. What am I missing?

Does anyone think it would be beneficial for me to kill one of the slaves that went on a mission the first day, or should I hold and guard tonight?

If we are killing all the slaves today, I guess neither of my options would matter.

I'm not sure either. If the slaves are safely locked up in the pen, I don't see what they can do, other than infect other slaves--which shouldn't matter a whole lot at this point, unless they have some powers or abilities that I am not aware of.

That's the thing, we don't completely know. We don't know what happens when the slaves riot. The game says they are bred to be strong and angry, so that sounds like to me they cause damage to persons and/or rooms. Plus, we don't know what happens if an infected slave riots. I like to play things safe, and they are patently unsafe to keep around right now. We have 5 possible guards, all of whom are wounded, exhausted, or even both. We have no phasers. We need to minimize what has to be kept safe.

Am I missing something? From what I can tell, they can only riot if their pen is in a state of disrepair.

In addition to losing their services, we render a pefectly conditioned location useless (which will give the spawns one less thing to destroy, since we will have pretty well ruined its function ourselves), and it takes away my ability to perform a night action and perhaps gather some information.

Killing them off pre-emptively makes no sense to me, so please explain.

My train of thought is that the spawn may attack the pens tonight. An attack on the pens tonight means rioting slaves tomorrow. We don't know how much that could hurt us, but we're so close to leaving, it seems foolish to leave open any avenues of harm.

honestly I think the slaves are of no use to us anymore too.

we need 3 chrys. for liftoff...if we can't get that in a group of 3 of us tomorrow we're in bigger trouble.

well whomever is in charge or can kill the slaves can kill them. i understand the risks of keeping them alive, but i just hate to loose a potential asset when we might need them. we dont know what might happen tonight and we might need to do more than just get a few crystalthingies tomorow

Why? Like the first officer, one could even say mission planner, said, if we can't get 3 more crystal, we're in worse shape than we thought. No need to make that even worse with living, troublesome slaves.

That is my thinking, as well. The captain can kill the slaves at any point, as far as I can tell. But tomorrow, we could need them if we are running low on water or don't get all the crystilium we need.

To me, the thing to measure is that how probably is an attack against the slave pen, while it is being guarded, versus their other options. I like having the benefits the slaves bring us + giving the spawn an extra location to have to worry about over the risk of the captain having to potentially use his AP points to kill them, should the pen get damaged.

That is my last set of thoughts on the subject. I guess I am glad that I don't have to make the choice.

well the day cycle is almost up and Kwhit still has all his AP (if I'm correct in my caculations, which I've been wrong before)

water isn't a worry yet...I believe the rules say 2 days without water if we need

I say we mine tomorrow and try to lift off if we can't I guess we go back to the Wig and then get the F off this place and fast.

I think the slaves might be needed for mining. If we send one scientist to the Wig, and one scientist to research the spawn corpses here, we could need some muscle to grab more crystilium.

Unlike some, I don't feel very confident that the game ends once we get 60+ crystalium.

In my mind, we are most likely going to get hit in the engines at some point in the very near future and are likely going to have to deal with the overlord, via the side quest of finding and investigating the Wig. If our ship gets damaged, our water supply is going to come into play.

I guess it depends on whether you seem them as a potential asset or a potential risk. I look around and see we need 3 crystal. We can get that ourselves, easy. We don't need the slaves for it. So, they have no real way of being an asset, and are therefore nothing but a potential risk. Even more so since their negative effects are so ambigious.

here's another thought for killing the slaves today...Swaggs could then be promoted to Warden tomorrow by the 2nd officer since we in all likely hood will be offing Chubby

I don't think anyone believes the game ends at 60 crystal, or even at lift off. But being off planet is surely safer than being on, no? Also, if the slaves are dead, it's one less place that needs repair if the engines or water plant are hit, not to mention one less place to guard.

Not a bad thought on using personnel, but it would take an extra day to go into effect since the promotion doesn't become valid until the following day cycle.

Maybe I have misinterpreted "Lift Off," but from reading it, I take it as meaning that we have what we came from and we are taking the hell off and the game is over.

Looking at it again, does it mean that are just put in a suspended state until we weed out the spawn?

correct...we lift off, but still have to eliminate the spawn and keep them from adding new members too!!!

The only problem I have with all of this is the machinations of everyone. We seem to have a plan, but it's public. It also seems as if certain individuals are pushing us to do certain things. When it looks as if we have things well in hand, that's when I'm most worried. This seems too easy. My spider sense is going off.

I asked about something like this earlier today but no one really responded. I think the second officer needs an AP to do this though, which I dont think he has today

Last game we left the planet and we had to keep water from people because we were running out. Not looking forward to that again. I think it is a moot point though. This game has more to do with planetside things, like the Overlord and The Wig.

This whole "lift off" concept adds an entirely different dynamic to the game.

Is it fair to say that we can no longer mine once we have lifted off? If that is the case, our water will be in short supply in a hurry if we don't lynch a spawn nearly every time. Not much room to breathe.
