It's only been one game. If they still only "look normal" after Week 4, we can start diagnosing the reasons.

As a Rams fan since 1968 I love the "new" helmets. I found myself watching entire preseason games just because those helmets looked so awesome It's about time they got rid of the gold. When something looks bad on HD tv you know it sucks

I didn't know much about McVay until I watched Amazon's program that followed the Rams through the 2016 season. The last episode was about McVay and where the Rams were headed post-Fischer. That one hour program got me pumped up about "our" new HC. I think you are right, we got a good one.

As a Rams fan I am cautiously optimistic about this year and do think he will end up being a good one. For now it will take more than a game against the Colts to be convincing, but.... They finally have receivers for the first time in what? 10 years?

Last year put 8 guys in the box and then look for a bubble screen to Austin and you had them covered. With McVay and the added receivers they are at least showing a willingness to try to get the ball downfield and challenge the defense.

I think this year's Colts team looks so bad that it seems dangerous to do any kind of projecting based around them.

Yup - take one of the three weakest rosters top to bottom in the league, take away their best player on each side of the ball and you get a predictable train wreck

I think you can be encouraged with the start from Goff but McVay also did an incredible job of putting him in situations where he was likely to be successful. I still don't see that line holding up against a real NFL team. Gurley still only averaged 2 YPC

Weak roughing the passer call kept the drive alive. Vikings/Saints are fortunate to have the clueless crew work their game this week.

Agreed, but my favorite stat of the game is that 6 receivers had a long reception of over 20 yards. Compare that to last year's staff where defenses would stack 8 in the box, and they would try bubble screens or 5 yard outs.

As I suspected. Adrian Peterson is not a good fit for the Saints. Peterson must not have actually asked the coaching staff how much he would actually be getting the ball in his role.

Ingram is just a younger better back at this point and is losing carries because of it.

Cut his ass & move on.

Having now seen what transpired (thanks social media, I wasn't really looking), I'm not sure how you don't. Of the three backs that got carries, AP is the least promising and least notable of the bunch at this point.

Just a really weird decision all around. Ingram finally looking like a feature back and Kamara with a ton of potential. On a team that has had the worst defense in the league and said they are going to address it every year for the last ten years or so.

So Facebook is streaming some college games this season, they don't do commercials, so most of the breaks were spent with a sideline reporter who, bless his heart, didn't have the greatest grasp of English. I thought it was odd that they would give the job, that necessitated him speaking for probably close to an hour, to a guy who wasn't so great at English. Then came Sergio Dipp.

I'm foreseeing a near future where are all games have a 3 man booth, 2 sideline reporters, a review analyst, a kicking analyst, and a Spanish reporter. Eventually the talking heads will outnumber the actual players on the field.

One thing that annoyed be during the week.

Do we really need to use a player injury to make an advertising pitch? I think it was during the Cleveland game and the sideline announcer said something like, "...and now the injured player will be taken to this makeshift blue tent, where he will be examined by a doctor using a Surface Pro©...

Let's party like it's 1996!

Exactly. I'm still baffled why they make it so fucking complicated. Reviews should go look this. Ref pulls out phone or walkie. "Hey, was that a fumble.....no...cool." It shouldn't take more than 1 minute to settle this shit.

I was having this same discussion about Marvin Lewis with some friends yesterday, and was surprised to find out that before last year the Bengals had 5 seasons in a row with 9+ wins.

Ken Zampese has neutered Dalton's ability to make adjustments at the line and its killing the offense IMO. That and a healthy Tyler Eifert has 5 targets in 2 games. That is a mind numbing stat to me. Then there is the HOF WR that isn't getting thrown at much either. Oh, and lets not forget the clear top RB on the team that might be leading the team in carries but isn't getting nearly the number of touches he should.

I blame the OC most, the front office second most for letting the offensive line go to complete shit and doing nothing at all about it, and then Marvin. I don't blame the players. The defense is playing really well, the offense is being coached into complete awfulness and the staff is entirely to blame for that IMO.

Either they need an OC who will call some ballsy plays, or they need to give Andy the keys and let him run shit instead of whatever the hell is happening. There is no excuse for a team with that kind of talent to have 9 points in 2 games. I refuse to believe Dalton has become Matt Schaub.

I dunno. You obviously follow the team and have a much better handle on what is going on than I do, but week 1 Dalton had a historically bad game (worst 5 all-time IIRC) and then this week, he just made an awful throw on an open receiver or made a terrible decision to hold the ball and get sacked or have to scramble and throw it away on every single third down or big play situation.

It's definitely possible that poor play calling is part of the equation but I just don't believe the coaches are telling him to overthrow a guy who would walk into the end zone by 20 yards on a key third down play. His most effective play last night was basically a heave into double coverage that probably should have been picked off other than the fact that AJ Green is an absolute god. There's obviously a lot of blame to go around but Dalton has been absolutely putrid, and I don't see how calling audibles at the line is going to change the fact that through two weeks he's been more likely to throw the ball at the other team or at a 10 yard spot of turf than he is his own receivers.
