Rippy was a UCLA guy at one time, but the staff basically stopped recruiting him. The same thing with Colorado and they were desperate for bodies

As for Shell, UCLA probably doesnt lose much if he doesnt pan out so it's a nice gamble. We don't need a RB as badly this year, but the following year, so he will have a year to get things straightened out or he's gone. Mora hasn't had much problem booting kids out for not towing the line.

ASU fans are convinced that Pitt steered him to UCLA so he would face ASU every year.

Interesting how both schools new to the SEC are already doing stadium renovations.

Never thought about it this way, but looking at the stats in the top 50 QB's Denard Robinson had 1,268 more passing yards than Tom Brady, threw for 18 more TD's and on the ground had 39 more rushing TD's. Thirty-nine.

Also had 20 more INTs, which probably was more of his downfall than his actual inability to throw although it went hand in hand. His utter and complete inability to throw the long ball was mind numbingly bad.

Didn't Brady also split time as the starter with Drew Henson?

It's been in the works for awhile, I remember reading about it for the first time 3 years or so ago.

Kind of weird to see how much they've changed the hill at Memorial Field. GA seats are going to be a lot closer to the action now. Going to love sitting there with my kids.

Rutgers' first B1G game is hosting Penn State, and then in October we start a four game stretch hosting Michigan, at Ohio State, at Nebraska, and home for Wisconsin. Going to be brutal but can't wait.

Rees feels like he's been there forever so I think for next year they will be OK. If Kelly can work on his next guy next year there could be little transition time, but Golson just screwed himself so hard by doing whatever he did. Whatever prevents ND from going undefeated again and certainly beating Michigan I am all for.

Somewhat ironically, the Joan Cronan mentioned prominently in the volleyball controversy is the same woman who is now working out her own severance after the position of women's AD was eliminated at UT. A $1.29 million dollar severance package with a number of perks will send her into retirement after a stint as "adviser to the University President".

Gunner Keil has to be kicking himself.

They should be ok with Tommy Rees for this year. No one thought they would duplicate last year anyway.

If that's true, good to see the school holding high standards. When I turned in a D3 athlete for copying an entire paper the AD and coach came to my chair's office and tried to get her to pressure me to drop it. When she wouldn't, they got the president involved, and while he still failed my class, he didn't see any punishment as far as his team.

Malik Zaire was an early enrollee, so he will be in the mix as well. He probably has as much or more upside than Golson anyway. Just no depth after those two and after this season they will only have two schollie players at the position.

Yeah, he is the other senior. Can't see him getting the job, I think it is either Rees and hope he can be consistent, or start building for the future now with Zaire, or a combination with Rees starting early and Zaire getting reps in here and there.

It was a waste since the search committee didn't use any of the names put forth by the firm.

Hermann was added by co-chair of the RU search committee.

It's now staring to look like the Star Ledger basically took one side of the story and failed to investigate the allegations further. Many many people have come out in defense of Hermann, including a former assistant coach.

Then again, how much credibility does a woman who claims to have forgotten that she attended a wedding where she caught the bouquet possibly have left?

I might buy the forgetting a wedding absent that but under those circumstances, srsly, how many women have you met in your entire life who would forget that detail?

A woman drunk enough to forget that detail would almost certainly have been unconscious already & couldn't have caught it in the first place.

I'm really unimpressed with Rees and Hendrix, so I hope it's Zaire who impresses and wins the starting job, but Rees as a fallback isn't the worst option. Golson can also come back after a year/semester off (Gary Gray and someone else did a couple years back), and rumor has us in on Wes Lunt from Oklahoma State as a transfer. Kelly certainly does like rotating through his quarterbacks, in season and out!

Lest my reasoning for not believing the current (and future former?) Rutgers AD appear sexist, consider this from ESPN's Dana O'Neil "Trust me, no woman forgets being a bridesmaid, especially in the 1980s and '90s. Taffeta memories have the shelf life of a cockroach."

I think Rees gets dumped on due to his sophomore season. The Irish aren't in the title game last season without him, and I thought he was their better QB for a decent chunk of the season.

I really think Kelly's offense needs a QB with the threat of mobility to work properly - Rees is not that. (Hendrix is the opposite in that he can run, but can't/never throws.) Having a QB with 18 career starts and a couple big 4th quarter drives step in as a caretaker is a pretty good fallback scenario, and based off the rumors of Golson's practice style I'm not sure he had as much upside as it appeared, but I think this greatly lowers our offensive upside. Strength of the team will again be a dominant front 7 on D, so I think we'll be right there vs. any non-Alabama team we play, but it's unlikely we'll win every tight game again. Hopefully the DaVaris Daniels rumor was just that - having a couple legit big-play threats will take the pressure off whichever QB plays.

I thought Vanderdoes was supposed to release a statement today?

No, it wasn't funny it was just ignorant unless you think insulting a religion is funny.

The sooner that president goes away the better, he is an embarrassment to OSU, the big ten, and college in general.

It depends on what context I suppose. I wisecrack things about my Catholic brother-in-law. We wisecrack about having to give out brown bags at the winery so the Baptists don't see your booze. People don't spend enough time laughing at themselves IMO.

Should he have said it given his position? Probably not. Is it to the level that you sugguest? Absolutely not.
