Day 24: 7/2/2010
Wii Fit Weigh-In: 185.9 lbs. Found an app today called "LoseIt" which tracks food/calories and exercise/activity throughout the day and compares it to a budget you create based on your stated weight loss goals. I should have more detailed daily info from here out based on this app. My stated goals allowed me a 1,644 calorie budget per day. The graphic above shows all of the food I ate today and all of the exercising I've done. The snack/lunch/dinner pie chart is useless because I did it wrong and didn't bother to fix it, but oh well. Also, the calorie count is the only thing mega-useful because a lot of foods don't have the extra nutritional information in the database to make things like the fat grams or sodium tally anything remotely close to accurate. That is net calories, right? (i.e. calories consumed minus additional calories burned via exercise)

Updated post #101 with some info from Loseit.com. This is all updated from the app, but the website gives lots of info like this.
I came in 776 calories under budget, which is huge. If I came out at exactly 0, I would lose 2 lbs. per week. Anything over that is gravy. I want a lot of gravy. I also want to be significantly under budget just to account for the fact that this isn't an exact science. 8 miles on the treadmill today, btw. Last edited by MJ4H : 07-02-2010 at 11:39 PM. |

Day 25: 7/3/2010
Wii Fit Weigh-In: 185.2 lbs. Workout: BL Upper Body, BL Lower Body (approx 200 calories) - for some reason my exercise data hasn't been updated on the website yet, so it is missing from above. I am over 1,000 calories under budget today. I'm a little hungry, but not too bad. I might have a small bowl of cereal before bed. Not sure yet. I am crushing this. I have loseit on my iphone, but it's more of a "what am I putting in my belly" tracker than anything.

I was going to suggest this earlier, but you might want to consider trying to keep that caloric take up near what loseit suggests. Your body is likely going into starvation mode and doesn't want to give up anything.
Try eating smaller portions and more often. I'm trying to eat smarter and snack smarter in the process.

It's a good suggestion, and one I have been going around and around with. I really don't feel like I'm starving myself, though. I feel like I'm just being smart about what I eat. I am going to toy with this a little, for sure. It's not something I haven't thought about. |

Just saying...give your body some fruit or protein bar inbetween the meals. To be 700 calories under a plan that's for 2 pounds of loss...that's quite a bit. My eyebrows literally raised when I saw that number.

I hear you. I will make it all up in one meal at some point this week, I can almost assure you.
BTW I had a bowl of cereal before bed last night, so that graphic for yesterday is a couple of hundred off. What I will probably do is narrow that gap by a hundred or so each day until it is a more reasonable number. I'm going to shoot for a 200 calorie gap or so. I want a good margin of error because of all the rounding and uncertainty in the numbers being used in the first place. Last edited by MJ4H : 07-04-2010 at 11:07 AM. |

Loseit.com is slow to update stuff so I'll just generalize it here and post the graphs and stuff tomorrow.
Today I had a Lean Cuisine a little before noon. My plan was to eat a larger number of calories today and wind up closer to my budget number. I had a high calorie later lunch: 2 BBQ sliders from Applebee's. 340 calories each plus I split a piece of fat free cheese between the 2. We went geocaching this evening and I got roped into eating out. We wound up at, of all places, Applebees. They have a few low calorie options so I chose from that selection. I wound up with Garlic Herb Chicken, which comes with some herb potatoes and broccoli, all for 370 calories. Nice. I wound up with about 1400 calories on the day and worked off around 300 of them with the Biggest Loser Cardio Max level 1 workout. Today I came in about 450 under budget. Better, plus, hopefully I got the metabolism going a bit more from eating a bigger number and geocaching actively today. |

171 today. Surprisingly watched what I ate yesterday. Chest, back, and abs before church and all the fun yesterday and I was wore out!
Plyometrics today. Yippee. Gonna be worn out...just in time for two games of softball tonight.

You'll have to confirm. Just finished plyo and sweated my butt off. The house is 80 degrees...dang AC can't keep up in the heat...pretty surprising to be honest. Before the workout I was 171 on an accurate scale. Afterward I had lost a pound! A freaking pound!
Couple hours till softball, might get some chicken and a nap before that.

Got back from softball and the house was 89. 89!? The unit said it was trying to cool to 75, so I had a problem. Turns out our drain pan was clogged...which led to the cooling water to have no where to go...so the coils froze...and froze...and froze. There was a good sheet of ice over everything. I finally got it all taken care of near midnight, but I didn't eat my flipping dinner in the process.
On the positive side, I'm at 169.

I'm about 200 calories under after eating my heart out today. I was starving! I'll be 175 tomorrow.
Workout wore me out as well. Might do some walking here in a bit to try and create some space.

Thanks!
Todays meals:
For a total of 1,214 leaving me 428 for dinner. And then my workout will take away from that. I'd like to do Last Chance tonight, but I have a feeling my wife won't want to. edit: I had a Grilled Chicken Sandwich with a slice of Cheese from Sonic for dinner and did the Power Sculpt workout again. I finished 198 calories under budget (+480 and -250 for my dinner and workout respectively). Last edited by MJ4H : 07-08-2010 at 10:33 AM. |

Day 30: 7/8/2010
Wii Fit Weigh-In: 184.5 lbs. Notes: whew. I am glad to have fnally pushed through my floor weight. I am back into "Normal" range on Wii Fit (instead of "Overweight range). My BMI is currently 24.99 according to that. 25 is the line. Last time I peeked into Normal range I promptly celebrated by stopping my working out and eating like a king (and gaining 8 lbs.) Not happening this time. Last edited by MJ4H : 07-08-2010 at 10:31 AM. |

That's fantastic. My BMI is slightly higher than yours, but I rarely pay attention to that number. What I'm enjoying is seeing that body fat percentage drop.

I still have like 1200 calories to work with today so I am going to have a big Long John Silvers meal and then work out. I think the big meal will still be under 1000 calories, then a 250 calorie workout will give me quite a sizable defecit for today.
Eating smart and then spending a lot of time on the treadmill (oh yeah, I did 90 minutes at 3.5 mph) makes this pretty easy. |

I'm crazily gaining my weight back, but my body fat keeps creeping down. I'll take it. I'm not trying to be as aggressive on the calories as you are. I'm trying to be close to 2000. I look to that as my goal. I want to get to that amount...not that's my limit.
I'm trying to not hit that big dinner, either. I can't remember the last soda I had...and I remember all too well the last order of fries I had...it's been two weeks. I'm a lot more conscious of the food I'm taking in. If I get fast food, it's just to pick up a side salad...and I left Arby's the other day when I didn't find one. Shoot, I start groaning these days if anything suggests it's going to be 600-700 calories as a portion. I believe I'll be tempted Saturday at the zoo and then afterward at my girlfriend's birthday dinner. I'm certain I won't avoid the cake...which is a shame because I don't really even like cake. At least I'll get a ton of walking in during the day...maybe that'll cover it.

I somehow gained two flipping pounds. NOT HAPPY. Body fat still the same percentage...so I won't whine too much.
No workout today, P90x has me off or stretching today. I'm not taking an hour to stretch when it doesn't do much for me exercise wise.
